      And a special hug for his dog Charlie. I loved that the dog was mentioned in the death announcement. It shows you the special people that Phil and Marlo are. Respecting Love wherever it came from.

    He was a part of my life growing up watching him on daytime TV when I had no school during the summer, & on school days when I was sick. Thank you, Phil, for being a pioneer of daytime TV talk. #RIPPhilDonahue🎤📺😢

      Same here. In the early 80s when I was a teenager, my Mom and I went to a taping of his show in Chicago. We were in studio audience. I was young when he was on and did watch his shows when I had opportunity (summers, sick from school) but my mother watched him daily.

    I grew up wayching him. Hecwas & is one of the greatest interviewers/talk show hosts to exist. Although he got down to the informative nitty-gritty of subject matters, he kept it clean every time. Anyone at any age could watch his show & by the end of it, well informed.
    Im so glad he & Marlo found love & happiness in each other. Shes a beautiful lady & hes a handsome man.

    Such a great loss to humankind. Phil Donahue had such incredible integrity, intelligence and superb compassion. He and Marlo were the greatest couple ever! My heartfelt condolences to his beautiful wife, children, family and friends and all that loved him.

    I grew up watching him as a kid. Anytime I was home sick from school or whenever the weather was extreme, I’d watch the daytime talk shows. Phil was my favorite of them all. The man is a legend and will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends. 😔💐

    He was such a transformational man and his show was life and culture changing. I worked my studies around watching it in the pre streaming/recording days in college! RIP good sir. You are the original and you changed many of our lives, opened up our hearts and minds. 🙏🏼💔🙏🏼

    RIP to a true legend. Mr. Donahue greatly impacted my life via a show (circa 1989) wherein he addressed the book "The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Washing" and the topic of OCD, which I had been dealing with for years since childhood, but had never seen discussed by anyone else. Thanks to Phil raising the profile of OCD issues I was able to finally get help and live a better life.

    I truly liked the king of daytime talk, Mr. Donahue, he was seemingly a kind, just sweet spirited gent. I watched his talk show as teenager, I had a lot of respect for the morals, principals, his sense of decency Mr. Donahue exceplified in interviews. Goodnight Mr. Donahue, sleep well!!!!!!

    I watched Phil's show from almost the beginning. He went where no talk show host had gone before - the man is an ICON. Everyone leaves this Earth at some point. It is our accomplishments that make us eternal.

    I grew up in Chicago back in the early 1970’s watching the “Donahue” show. And I was always proud when Phil Donahue recorded his show in Chicago. And then he moved on to New York. I loved his show. I watched it every day it was on. My condolences to Marlo Thomas and the family.     RIP, Mr. Phil Donahue. THANK YOU!!, for your GREAT show. I watched The Phil Donahue Show from childhood into adulthood. From time to time, I still watch clips on UA-cam. In my opinion, he was the BEST talk show host. PERIOD!! My deepest condolences to his wife, Ms. Marlo Thomas, his children, and to the rest of his family.
    I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MAN.

    My late father was a Phil, too. I remember me and my father, on his days home from work, watching and enjoying Donahue.
    My, how quickly 50 years have gone by!

    I remember Phil growing up and my Mom always watching. I also watched Marlo in her TV shows as well as her Father, Danny. The saddest thing about the passing of people you grew up with is that you're not very far away. Rest in Peace Phil and mt feltheart condolencces go to Marla and the rest of the family.

    Over 6000 shows. Quite an accomplishment. Phil Donahue paved the way for Oprah Winfrey, Jenny Jones, Geraldo
    Rivera, Sally-Jesse-Raphael and others. I watched Phil Donahue and recorded many of his shows on my VHS recorder
    in the early years. Phil Donahue would be a great interviewer today of the political policies, of Biden, Harris, Walz and
    Trump. Phil Donahue will be missed. I pray for Phil Donahue and his surviving wife, Marlo Thomas.
