@@hinnax.5489 it’s like how any other instagrammer contours. The Asian way of contour is to shade the whole side of the jaw. The American way to contour is you do underneath the cheek bones, concealer under and the contour. Darken along the edges of the jaw. Then a highlight on cheek bones to make it pop. I find it’s important to put concealer under the cheekbone contour because it makes it pop out. Sorry if any of this is confusing. (In the following order; Highlight cheeks, contour the hollow underneath the cheekbones, concealer below that, then a line contour on the edge of the jaw.) I think we all how unrealistic beauty standards because the very few very attractive people are everywhere on social media, films, media in general etc. Add in the photoshop, and it makes people feel shitty about their average looks. It also gives, especially women, unrealistically high standards when it comes to a potential partner.
I lost 30 pounds and now I noticed that I developed a slight hollow to my cheeks kind of like Gabrielle Union. I think I'll probably continue to have a more defined cheekbone as I lose more weight. It's interesting watching this video because all of the things he mentioned proved to be evident in my face. I have very high and wide cheekbones. @@sscssc908 I don't know. It really depends on your facial stucture. But given that thinner people are seen as more attractive, if you lose weight, you'll probaly look more attractive.

What matters more is shape, definition or overall prominence of the cheekbones rather than where they sit. How/where soft tissue rests also matters (e.g. bella hadid before and after PS). Cheekbone prominence right under the eye is a masculine feature (hence why most examples here are males), just like a really square or prominent jaw or chin. There was only one woman in this series who I felt truly had that look and the remainder of her bone structure was also fairly masculine, though beautiful indeed. Also wouldn't describe N. Oliveira's cheekbones as low set by any means. I looked at more of her photos and they actually quite high and bordering on masculine.

I have high fairly prominent cheekbones. Definitely got that from my momma. My one insecurity is having such a tiny nose. I like the tip of it but there's barely any nose bridge at all which makes finding glasses that fit a lot of fun. So in the end my midface is a weird mix of strong cheekbones but weak nose/profile. the 3/4 angle is definitely my friend. LOL
I think prominent cheekbones and high cheekbones go hand and hand, correct me if I'm wrong. 08:14 is how my cheekbones actually look, line and all high and wide, especially working out give it more density. Some women can't help but look at my face because of my cheekbones.
@@tracksidecameraman9055 i think high refers to vertically how it aligns on your face (aka closer your eyes or closer to the nose) and prominence refers to how far it sticks out and extends the width of your face. But that's awesome... rock those high cheekbones of yours!
@@arocks1234567 thank you! it definitely took a long time through some awkward teenage years with coke bottle glasses to learn to appreciate what I have
@@sakaue You can't say that in general. There are certain attributes that men and women need to get a model look. Studies show that in men it's the eyes and in women it's the nose that's more important. So depending on you have to see what glasses do for you. Mine makes my nose smaller and generally my midface more compact due to the position I wear it. The frame cuts my eye shape so well, since they have the same curve as my natural eyes, that my half hooded almond eyes look much more 3:1 ratio than without glasses. As a negative factor, it should be noted that my cheekbones don't look that prominent. You really have to look at what suits you and then estimate how much it benefits you.
@@sakaue depends entirely on the style of glasses, which I am acutely aware of because normal glasses make my nose look bigger and I have to get glasses with a different inside curve towards the nose to make my nose look more normal. Different types of glasses styles flatter different kinds of faces. Few people look good with those stereotype aviator glasses for instance, they make most but not all people look uglier because their face doesn't have the proportions and angles to pull those shapes off well.
Does anyone else just feel sick watching these? I find it fascinating but it just makes me sad. Like, I get it. I don't have a perfect face never did, never will. And even if I did it wouldn't cure my other host of things I need to fix about myself. When you really break it down, there's no real way to change the hand you were dealt. Sure we can all do hours of working out, expensive makeup, hair extensions, waxing, tweezing, tannint, and then trying to become less awkward/more social but then you have to put that all ontop of all the other real stuff you have to do. It never really ends and the bar keeps moving farther and farther away, not to mention the older you get the altogether harder it all becomes. I'm genuinely curious what everyone else thinks about all this? At what point do we give up?
That's the thing, your mindset on beauty is the key thing while watching these videos. I like understanding how humans work and how attractiveness varies region to region or feature to feature. You can even learn from it and take it as a task to self-improvement to look better. The one thing I keep in mind is everything in moderation... don't become too obsessed and binge-watch these videos but it doesn't hurt to learn. Beauty is a science. :P
You need to stop watching these. The perspective you're looking through is one of self hate. You are looking to criticize yourself because you'll never reach "perfection", but there's a reason very few people look like models. If everybody looked like that, they wouldn't be models, because they wouldn't be unique anymore. You do not need to look like a model to gain love from other people or have a happy life. You also don't need it to have approval for yourself, but that is a choice you can choose to make or not make. Is the love you show yourself conditioned on how you look? Do you want it to be? Or is watching these videos and having these standards self abuse? Would you treat a child like that, getting upset with them for not fitting beauty standards? Why do you have less compassion for yourself as opposed to others? You will never live a happy life if you are always criticizing yourself. Even models have some of the lowest self esteem on the planet from being exposed to the beauty industry, despite being the ones setting the "standard". You can choose to live a life full of constant self hate, but no matter how much you "improve" or change, there will always be more, because you look at yourself as something that needs to be fixed, so you will continue to have that perspective. You don't need to be fixed, you need to be loved. And you need to realize that other people's approval doesn't mean shit. "You could be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and someone is still going to hate peaches". But your own approval is the difference between health + happiness and misery + poverty consciousness relative to life. Think of yourself like a child. What would a child need to feel loved? Do that for yourself. Treat yourself with kindness. There are no standards you need to live by, except the ones you set (and perhaps legal ones), and you can choose to release them. What do you really want? To fit a standard, or to be loved regardless of that standard? Also, you will grow old and die anyway. Youth isn't forever unless you die young. Do you want to spend your life worrying about how you look? Is that how you want to spend your life? Or do you want to find people to connect with, a place to call home, inner peace? What does a child need? You are no different. You deserve that kindness and support, and you deserve it from yourself. (You deserve it from others to, but I think you are more unkind to yourself then others are towards you.)
@Bekas I understand that perspective, but looking at her profile picture, she doesn't fall out of the ordinary, and she looks kinda pretty to me, so I do not think she would have that kind of trouble. I understand what you mean though, but even in that case, if you were being discriminated against, surgery would likely be the only thing to help. Even then, watching these kinds of videos isn't going to do you any good anyway, so it's still not super helpful to be watching them (unless you're sending them to your doctor or something). You're right in that there is a difference between hating how you look vs other people treating you poorly because of it. My original comment wasn't aimed towards that crowd. If that's you, then a decision would have to be made whether or not to change, and if it would genuinely make your life easier to look differently. For some people it definitely does make life easier, but I also feel like a lot of people think they look worse then they really do simply because of things like social media/filters/advertisements. It would really depend on the person. Also, some people take it too far, and you can definitely tell they've had a lot done. It's like makeup, where you can use it to enhance what's already there and look more like yourself, or you can use it to try to cover up everything in an effort to fit the "ideal" and you kinda lose any humanness left (you've seen the people with lots of botox or fillers or obvious nose jobs or chin jobs, or even like how everyone looks the same in Korea after surgeries, or how it's trendy to look like a Kardashian). But there's a difference between that and something considered "corrective", so it really depends. Unless you are so far out there that people are discriminating, I feel like people need to be very careful with anything permanent, especially because trends change all the time.
Not sure that's the point of his videos. He's breaking down the actual physical reasons why different cultures accept different beauty standards. Don't think we are supposed to compare and pick on ourselves after watching these videos lol 😊

@@QOVESStudio In the video regarding the jawline it says that the length of the ramus determines the face shape from long and oval to short and square. So my understanding is that if a long ramus is a masculine trait then the shorter facial height also should be.
@@michal5179 By natural design, men have longer ramus = a longer face than women. HOWEVER, the angle of the ramus also contributes to the length. The hollow cheek look is common amongst drug addicts, and regardless of the face type I think it can be easily achieved once body fat levels are low enough.
Muscular people have larger face and chin muscles, that makes cheekbones less prominent.
@@rightlibertarian8355 Depends on bodyfat levels. If you have a six pack, your face will reflect that too and look chiseled. Don't believe me? Google is ur friend.
@MrFangaz you’re lucky I’m here , personal trainer and dietician here. If you’re currently on the skinnier side , I recommend a diet filled with clean proteins and carbs , salmon , chicken , beef , eggs , rice , potatoes , is you’re best friend make sure you’re sleeping and recovering well and eating in a caloric surplus . And running will not burn muscle , you need cardio rather cutting or bulking , just don’t over do it , if you’re cutting just go on a deficit and I recommend mewing for the jawline part.
I came across this looking for how to stop hollow cheeks. I got a top denture a couple of weeks ago and my face has caved in. So many videos for men to hollow cheeks and women to prevent and fix hollow cheeks. There’s actually a video, how to hollow cheeks to get girls. I associate hollow cheeks with crack, tooth loss or eating disorders. I don’t find it appealing but apparently some people do.
@MrFangaz im 16 and im skinny but my face has a lot of fat, is that normal? should i start working out? ive started mewing very recently but im wondering if its just my age is why my face is chubby. (im skinny)
Surprised you didn’t put filling Murphy in the video, his cheekbone structure is beautiful
I have high cheekbones but not that much protrusion so I look much flatter. I find laterally wide cheeks very beautiful.
My face it's pretty much oval and taught. What could improve a lot on my side and frontal view it's actually a more accurate angle for my jawline. I've made an exam and the doctors said my jawline growth didn't mach my age (too small)👀 I look younger because of that 🤔 it might actually be an option for health reasons in the future
I think we all how unrealistic beauty standards because the very few very attractive people are everywhere on social media, films, media in general etc. Add in the photoshop, and it makes people feel shitty about their average looks. It also gives, especially women, unrealistically high standards when it comes to a potential partner.
I think i'm gonna zoom in everything.
I'm gonna pretend I didn't read that
Photoshop. Carefully posed angles with perfect lighting. Loads of makeup. No one looks like that.
This is really difficult to read
Face is our brand. I think people with sharp shapes like cheekbones, jaws are easy to remember, because of character.
They are also more photogenic. Pretty much the reason people with softer facial features almost always look better irl than pics.
I never thought I'd be the type to have hallow cheeks since I have such a chubby, round baby face.
my question is if I lose a significant amount of weight will my face will be asthetically good
@@sscssc908 I don't know. It really depends on your facial stucture. But given that thinner people are seen as more attractive, if you lose weight, you'll probaly look more attractive.
You go! Slayer! I'm in the same boat. I still have doubts but I also have theories. Life is great when you're attractive
I have high cheekbones and i kinda used to hate it. Since i have deep set eyes and slim face, i would often look 'half dead' whenever i had little to no sleep. And i never wear highlighter either cause I'd probably look like ghost bride.
LMAO i feel bad for you but the way you wrote it xD
Same 😂
Sameee
Same here, especially the deepset eyes. You can't follow current makeup trends.
Mew they say - tongue hard pressing against palate, forcing it up, pushes cheek bones out.
*Or some do a more manual approach- use their thumbs aka 'Thumb Pulling.'*
And eat hard foods, like vegetables
When i discovered mewing i became even more obsessed with cheekbones ,everytime i see someone and get attracted to themi find myself analysing their face and every single time they be having dem strong face structure bones
😂 just like me but i hate my cheekbones i think soft features are so pretty
@@angelina-pw2ff soft features are pretty cute sharp features are attractive and people will always have different preferences so just love yours anyway
just like the guy? in ur pfp, he has an amazing bone structure
@@ldive it's bill Skarasgård and i love him so much. it makes sense ig lol
So why am I attracted to a guy with chubby cheeks.
Some women can't help but look at my face because of my cheekbones.
you have a beautiful face!
@@tracksidecameraman9055 i think high refers to vertically how it aligns on your face (aka closer your eyes or closer to the nose) and prominence refers to how far it sticks out and extends the width of your face. But that's awesome... rock those high cheekbones of yours!
@@arocks1234567 thank you! it definitely took a long time through some awkward teenage years with coke bottle glasses to learn to appreciate what I have
@@suhseal Yeah, I get your point, definitely agree.
Can you please do a video on how glasses affect your face?
There might be more to say, but in a recent video they mentioned that glasses make your nose look larger.
@@sakaue yeah
You generally look worse with glasses
@@sakaue depends entirely on the style of glasses, which I am acutely aware of because normal glasses make my nose look bigger and I have to get glasses with a different inside curve towards the nose to make my nose look more normal. Different types of glasses styles flatter different kinds of faces. Few people look good with those stereotype aviator glasses for instance, they make most but not all people look uglier because their face doesn't have the proportions and angles to pull those shapes off well.
Thick eyebrows and a thick neck add so much to attractions.
It’s nice having that sharp jawline I’m not gunna lie
PLS PLS PLS BRING YOUR “AM I ATTRACTIVE” VIDEO BACK EVEN IF ITS FOR A LITTLE BIT ,PLS PLS PLS.
You know you can just idk stop watching
People talking about how lower body fat percentage makes cheekbones visible should know that many leaner people have less prominent cheekbones, due to bigger muscles, the muscles of the chin and face grow too.
For example: rugby players.

So are men supposed to have both a tall face and a short midface? In your earlier videos, you suggested that short and square faces are ideal for men and are masculinizing but here you say that men have taller faces.
Men by default have taller faces than women, short and square faces are still the ideal but very few men have that, hence the 'ideal.'
Say a person's face grows downward, where the ramus angle is like 160 degrees or something ridiculous, then his face would be longer compare to if his ramus angle was 90 degrees (completely square off).
So, the most masculine looking face is likely one with long, thick ramus, with the ramus angle at 90 degrees or very close to that.
