    Hi Robin. A nice way to spend a night in stormy conditions (better than a tent 😅) . The morning hike looked nice also, especially with the sounds and smells of the sea. Breakfast and coffee always taste nicer in those conditions. All the best 👍

      Indeed they do. On this night a solid structure was certainly the order of the day. Still I think I’m going to have to get myself a little tent to hike up the hills and see what I’m missing some day.

    Looked and sounded like a great little adventure Robin! You’ll be kept entertained and satisfied by West Cork alone for the rest of your life with so many wonderful spots to park up and observe 😎 Like you said - a great pastime to have found and so easily fit in with other things of life. That morning solitude on first light really is a heavenly experience - and like you, I’m so glad I found it!! An inspiring watch again 😊

      Thank you Miriam. Hanging around the harbours of the world is not generally as fine an experience as our tiny little hidden piers and harbours out west.
      Due to a bit of a family emergency since this camp I have lost count of how many of these camps I have done since, 5 or 6 anyway, it’s just so easy and so convenient, never been stuck for a pretty place to stop, once you’re out west far enough the world is yours at this time of year. Time to think. Tailgate breakfast and coffee bodes well for the day ahead.
      Thank you as always for your support. I hope you are doing well.

    "it's not how far you look, it's how closely you look" - what a line! Couldn't agree more! Superb storytelling! Thanks again :D

      I always appreciate the opinion of someone who does this himself in particular, so thank you Sir. The summer awaits us 🙌 happy trails, looking forward to seeing where the Hilux gets to next.

      @@VISTATREKKER Well, I'm only new to this whole storytelling/video-editing stuff, so I actually try to learn something from your videos! 😃 Can not WAIT for summer!
      Aha! Working on a video as we speak!

      @@arborigenie I look forward to it. UA-cam learning as a ‘content creator’ is very much a two way street. That’s why I’m so hooked I think.

      @@VISTATREKKER for me it started just to show my family and friends what we get up to when we're on a trip and somehow people started to engage and leave comments (which I wasn't expecting at all) that's just one of the reasons I would like to continue :) but I really like the creativity behind the videos! there's so much work going into it, makes me appreciate other peoples videos more :)

      I find it makes the trip last a little longer. It gets re lived and reconsidered in the editing process.

    As the American singer, songwriter, and musician Roger Miller once said “Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet." 🌪🌪🌪🌪 I think I can guess where you sit? :-) !! Experiencing rain while camping can be either a moment of connection with nature, to be felt and enjoyed, or merely an inconvenience - Storm Gerrit was just the Cherry on the top!
    Such a shame we have so few “rights to roam” - Wales & England being much the same as Ireland - and therefore experiences like this are enjoyed by I suspect a diminishing few. That said - the Disco IS the perfect car for just such an adventure, and you showcase it well! 😀
    Another excellent video! Thank you for punctuating an otherwise dull day spinning the hamster wheel.

      I’m going to have to listen to some Roger Miller if all his lyrics are as good as that. Says it exactly.
      Thank you for your comment and support. I think in Wales you have the green lane network. I wish we had even that here, although I have found that the more I poke around the more appears.
      One day I’ll go further afield on these trips I suppose, maybe when the kids are either old enough to go or too old to bother😅 I’m back on the hamster wheel myself today, but this whole video habit sure does make the adventures trickle out of their original more limited timeline. Even reading this comment does that.

    Robin, You have the perfect voice for this work, great narration ! another great video. I love those Timelapses in between . I should try that also in the future !!! Ireland I beautiful ! my very first flight in my life was to Shannon - Ireland , I will never forget this vacation !

    • @VISTATREKKER
      @VISTATREKKER  10 місяців тому +1

      Really appreciate your support on the narration Willem. That voice over is the one place where I personally am effectively on the stage rather than the scenery, so your thoughts on this are valuable to me.
      The GoPro is a wonderful machine for Timelapses once you can figure out a waterproof battery power supply that will last the night. They can be such a treat when the stars and moon are out. If a picture paints a thousand words these paint the whole book.

    Finally I've been able to watch one of your videos and know exactly where you were because I parked and walked to those caves last week! We got back from our campervan trip to the southwest over the weekend. I have to say we experienced our share of stormy weather whilst we were there. Storm Jocelyn cancelled our original ferry into Dublin, created a rollercoaster out of the next one and made her presence felt for the rest of the week. As your videos show, it is a stunning area no matter the weather. In fact I think if the seas were calm and not splitting themselves open on the shore it would have lost some of it's charm. We found the number of possible camp spots to be almost too much! the highlight was watching the partial solar eclipse peak through clouds whilst exposed to the elements at Kilcathrine Point. So windy was it there that I almost set up the vehicle jack under the leeward side thinking it might reduce the rocking motion. The magnetism of my bed prevented me from putting that plan into action! When I've been in my Disco or on the rooftent I've often thought about using the IID tool to deflate all the airbags so it sits on the bump stops. This would give a fairly solid and motion free night in any storm (less the compression of the tyre sidewalls). I'm not sure if I want my bags deflated for that long though - on that note I saw two lonesome Disco's fully deflated in Golden near Tipperary, poor things. Keep it up, Matt.

    • @VISTATREKKER
      @VISTATREKKER  9 місяців тому

      Hey Matt, wow you got some trip out of it. An eclipse even. I’m envious of that. I totally agree regarding the storms. Ireland was formed by storms not calm seas.
      The number of camp options in a van or car camping is really great once you get out to the coast and far from the city.
      Love this update you’ve posted. Motivation is not hard to find in that description of a winter trip.

      Hey Ally great to hear, right back at you, your channel looks great, a load of your stuff is going on my watch later list. Storm Babat is going to be first up. I think you may be the hard core wild camper I refer to in the video who might think car camping is tame, but it sure was easy 🙌

      Much appreciated , I don't berate anyone for their methods of camping , I like the challenge of roughing it ,wether that be in a tent or in a cave in my sleeping bag . I love the way you narrate your video 👍🏕
