  • In this video I show you how I make a beautiful veneered box. The veneers used are figured black Limba on the inside, Curly Etimoe for the outside and Laurel Burl veneer for the top and bottom. The finish used for both inside and outside is a 1.5 pound cut of a dewaxed shellac. Hinges are 95 degree side rail hinges (Model SR-638) by Brusso hardware.

    Thank you for producing this tutorial. I've been making furniture for 30+ years, but have not done veneering yet. Watching you go through these steps, along with your website article, has been very helpful! Nice work by the way!

    Very nice. Love the box. Etimoe is one of my favorite veneers. Doesn't get the attention it deserves.

    Just found your site. What incredibly beautiful work with no distracting music or narration. Wonderful. Learned a lot as I'm wanting to specialize in gun cases. (And my fave dog was a hound from Paris, KY)

    I was wondering where you'd gone! Welcome back. That is a stunning box! I have some curly Etimoe and didn't know what is was until now, thanks! Also I didn't know that Klingspor made paper for Festool sanders so thanks for that too!

    Hey folks, I've been away for a while but I think that will change this year. I hope to release a video once a month and take advantage of shorts to keep you at least updated between videos. If you don't already, follow me on Instagram instagram.com/simplecove because I post over there quite often as well. Thanks for watching the video and I hope you enjoyed it!

    It was soooo great to see a new SimpleCove video! But when did you start doing AMSR style videos (no sound). Please don't do that! Or, if you must, then maybe upload one version like that and one with a voiceover track. Leave this sort of thing to the genre of restoration videos (I wish they'd stop it, too!). I want to know WHY you do what you do. Pictures alone can't do that.
    That out of the way, thanks for taking the time to put this together for us. We missed you.

    • @Simplecove

      Videos take a long time to make and adding narration to it adds quite a bit of time to the already 10 plus hours it takes to make the video. I didn't do it for a certain style so if i do add narration in the future I won't be uploading two types of videos. I'm sure i will bring narration back in future videos but i'm starting out slow.

    Awesome box. How long does the veneer have to stay in the bag?

    • @Simplecove
      @Simplecove  2 роки тому +1

      About an hour with this glue. Then I let it sit for a few hours outside of the bag to continue to dry.

  • @artfahie9532

    I miss the narration…. But always worth watching.

    • @Simplecove
      @Simplecove  2 роки тому

      I will probably bring the narration back eventually. It's just a lot of extra work but i'm sure it will be back.
