In the same sense that one's adoptive parents are your parents, someone you never grew up with or knew as your sibling isn't your sibling. You never had that relationship with them. It's not weird IMO. It'd be like dating someone then your Dad and her Mum meet through you, and end up getting married while you're still dating. Congrats, you're dating your sister. Sure, there's a blood relation in their case, but as Foreman said, it's extremely extremely unlikely to have a greater chance than normal to have negative consequences. You don’t just fall out of love or erase memories and undo life plans instantly. Not to mention being lied to about it their whole lives.
Love is quite a messy. If we are talking about raising a child, adoption or genetically distinct artificial insemination would be an option. But I think the social taboo is more of a problem. Okay, hot take here, but I don't have any moral problem with the two of them being together, especially given these circumstances. Incest is in and of itself not morally bad, since it doesn't intrinsically cause any harm. It's not immoral, we just tend to find the idea icky. But if, say, a pair of half-siblings are genuinely in love with each other, and especially if they are of similar age, I just can't see any justification in morally condemning them being together. Is it a good idea? Probably not, but it's not immoral.
@@fanghur There's definitely nothing wrong about it if you take them having a child together out of the equation. There is literally no-one being hurt in that scenario.

My dad was one of the few honest ones who shared that knowledge with his kids, and it spared me from making the same mistakes. I recognized that I had addictive tendencies. This actually happened about a decade ago. Twins in the UK were given up for adoption and raised by different parents who lived across the country from each other. Met randomly. They decided to hire a private investigator to find each other’s real parents. It was meant to be a gift for their wedding anniversary. They found out they were twins a year after they got married.

I love how House was gradually getting annoyed with Foreman about wanting to hide the truth from them. "Good plan. Just gotta keep them away from doctors, the internet, and anyone who's not a complete moron. Tell them." They will find out eventually. No point in hiding it and them finding out later. "He might be a little vexed you kept letting him hump his sister in the mean time. Tell. Them." This could turn into a lawsuit for withholding important medical information, and foreman and the hospital could be sued for it. "Noble of you to take that risk. Tell them, or I will." Foreman is actively putting emotions over their health. It is not the time to put feelings over their lives. He can either try to lessen the blow, or have House tell them with little tact and have them feel even worse. (Not to say House wouldn't have been a bit soft about it. He's a jerk, but not a monster).
There’s nothing wrong with it, just as long as they get sterilized so that they can’t have children. Weird as hell though. But if it ain’t hurting anyone
Tbf this is only one episode. Game of Thrones was much more unapologetic about it. Not only that, they built their entire main storyline in the show out of it.
Real Case: about 20 years ago. Two people who were married needed blood work done. Results came back that they was, in fact, full brother & sister. They both had been adopted at birth to different famalies, grew up, met, fell in love & married. End results was the government forced them to get sterilized in order to remain man & wife.
Wait, so they weren't forced to separate? Shoot, someone should have told this couple that. I'd give up biological children if meant keeping my husband.
government CAN NOT force anybody to get sterilized. siblings and cousins marry all the time. Daughters/fathers make kids. I'm not saying it's ok, but it was real popular in Roman times and still happens today.

Heck yes incest is evil in the eyes of the Lord
@@James_follows_Christ You do realize that literally all of humanity is incestuous to some degree, and that according to a literal reading of scriptures literally the whole of humanity is descended from Adam and eve’s children. Meaning all of humanity is descended from incestuous couples.
If incest is evil in the eyes of the lord, maybe he should’ve created more than two original humans ? (Also, why the heck would incest even be wrong in the eyes of god ? In our eyes it’s wrong because a high degree of incest leads to higher risks of hereditary diseases being passed on and active, which probably lead to both biological anti-incest tendencies and social taboos against incest, or at the very least the latter, but if incest was completely consequence free, then incest between siblings cousins wouldn’t have any reason to be wrong)

MadOrse agreed. Like I said, I'd definitely find it weird. But who am I to judge?
@@fanghur Morality is a social construct adopted by a society and the people in it to act as guidelines for the benefit of the whole society. Incest is definitely immoral and not just "icky" based on the scientific evidence of having offsprings from an incestuous relationship would prove an evolutionary liability. In other words, bad genes are pooled and their effects amplified/compounded. To allow such an idea as "Noone's getting hurt so let them love each other" to propagate within incestuous relationships is particularly dangerous as they could accidentally bear children. Unplanned pregnancies. Contraception failures. Irresponsible individuals who just don't care. Your line of thinking is dangerous, unscientific and ignorant to its implications. Because where does it stop?
How about a 40 yr-old father and an 18 yr old daughter? Is it icky or immoral?
If a whole society believes the way you do, everybody could be having incestuous relationships. And that my friend is very dangerous. This is why it's immoral. This is why it's not allowed. This is why there are laws against incest. This is why it's not just "icky".

Google “genetic sexual attraction,” it’s a known phenomenon and it’s way more common than anyone realizes. It typically happens when 2 family members meet for the first time as adults, and were not raised together.
UA-camName I'm saying it's horrifying because of the taboo surrounding it. I know it's very common. The thought of meeting my father that hasn't been in my life, as an adult and experiencing a sexual attraction to him sounds awful. It just sounds weird to me. And I know many reunited parents and children have gotten together because of that fact and that is just very off putting to me.

Knowledge of your genetics is more important than sparing feelings. My dad was a big believer in science over keeping family secrets. My grandfather was an alcoholic, but that wasn't every spoken about among my extended family. My dad was one of the few honest ones who shared that knowledge with his kids, and it spared me from making the same mistakes. I recognized that I had addictive tendencies. Knowing that there was a genetic predisposition made me avoid going down the same path. If you know something about what your offspring may carry, let them know. Heart disease, cancer, early-onset Alzheimer's, etc. Many preventable diseases have a genetic component, but without knowledge of what you're carrying, you won't be on guard with early screenings or proactive with treatments or lifestyle changes that mitigate their impact.

And before you mention the need for reproduction I have you covered; semen injections. I would make a quip about your moral obligation to avoid sex but it's pretty clear you weren't having that issue before this revelation.
“Yesterday he was willing to die to save her” isn’t just something you do for people you’re in love with. I would be willing to die if that saved my brother’s life
House: Tell them or I will
Me: Please don't tell them, Foreman. I wanna see House do this.
I just imagine him busting into the room playing sweet home alabama
One of the biggest twists in the series
Yes, for me the best was season finale at season 5, the hallucination sex
Idk, what about the girl that was actually a guy that had an immunity to testosterone and grew up as a girl. Even tricked the dad to have sex with him to get stuff. Wincest, father and son bonding time.
omega5040 Which episode was that?
rezbarbie24 skin deep, season 2 episode 13
Vito Mcsween
I think the serial killer was.
This episode should be called "Targaryens "
Lannisters
Greywind92 nope, definitely Targaryens. They had way more incest happening
targannisters
This was like years before GOT
Inb4 WOOOSH REDDIT MOMENT YOU DIDN'T GET THE JOKE
They had green eyes....so the Lannisters
This actually happened about a decade ago. Twins in the UK were given up for adoption and raised by different parents who lived across the country from each other. Met randomly. They decided to hire a private investigator to find each other’s real parents. It was meant to be a gift for their wedding anniversary. They found out they were twins a year after they got married.
Mate, that happens all the time. Of course much more often the scenario of the episode: Some halfsiblings based on some affair.
Foreman...what's going on, did you fall in love with an accidental cousin or something?
That’s the title of a spoof soap opera.
Anthony Clay it sounds more like the name of an anime
Or a Jerry Springer episode.
Sergio Sarmiento more like a kdrama
Anthony Clay 😂
Kristina Frangulyan nope
I'm always so astounded (in a good way) with the acting the non-main characters bring to the show. The second she started talking about their eyes being the same, I genuinely felt bad for these two.
I love how House was gradually getting annoyed with Foreman about wanting to hide the truth from them.
"Good plan. Just gotta keep them away from doctors, the internet, and anyone who's not a complete moron. Tell them."
They will find out eventually. No point in hiding it and them finding out later.
"He might be a little vexed you kept letting him hump his sister in the mean time. Tell. Them."
This could turn into a lawsuit for withholding important medical information, and foreman and the hospital could be sued for it.
"Noble of you to take that risk. Tell them, or I will."
Foreman is actively putting emotions over their health. It is not the time to put feelings over their lives. He can either try to lessen the blow, or have House tell them with little tact and have them feel even worse. (Not to say House wouldn't have been a bit soft about it. He's a jerk, but not a monster).
This is why I refuse to date a Puerto Rican. My great grandfather was a philanderer. I'm probably related to half the island. LOOOL.
Lmao
I'm Haitian same problem small part of an island everyone related. People found out they were related as teenagers at my church.
honestly if you're any more distant than being 3rd cousins, the shared genes are negligible.

HOW WOULD THAT EVEN BE BETTER?? MY GOD I CHOKED

There’s nothing wrong with it, just as long as they get sterilized so that they can’t have children. Weird as hell though. But if it ain’t hurting anyone

House MD, creating dramatic incestuous relationship before Game of Thrones took it mainstream.
Tbf this is only one episode. Game of Thrones was much more unapologetic about it. Not only that, they built their entire main storyline in the show out of it.
When it comes to your wife
*YOU ARE THE BROTHER*
Real Case: about 20 years ago.
Two people who were married needed blood work done.
Results came back that they was, in fact, full brother & sister.
They both had been adopted at birth to different famalies, grew up, met, fell in love & married.
End results was the government forced them to get sterilized in order to remain man & wife.
I feel kinda bad for them getting sterilized but I also know that was the right thing to do, I hate it when the right thing feels really fucked up.
@@tinytt854 I also call bullshit on the sterilization part.
@@tinytt854 yeap totally fake news, the gov will recommend to not have children's and explain why. They can't force you to be sterilise
Spoiler Alert: She left him 😢
Im adopted and i wouldnt even want to date anyone from my non-biological family nor my biological family. Family is off limits period.
Yeah, Foremen crossed the line there.
Me neither, but considering how all the females ended up looking, I doubt that I could ever get drunk enough to even **think** about it...
@@jakeblanton6853 PAUSE
@@jakeblanton6853 oof. That’s not something you say out loud
that's Foreman's point; the incest taboo is a social taboo; our disgust only applies to people we see as family. the famous Freud snafu is because he didn't grow up with his mom. he had a nanny.

Love the acting of Foreman here. Fantastic stuff.
Foreman sounds like a GoT fan. "Your only half brother and sister so its ok, your not really related, you fell in love." Just like Jamie and Cercie, or better yet Jon Snow and Danny. Guess Foreman is pro targaryen.
Jamie and Cersei are twins. They’re definitely related
