You’re the first person to actually give a genuine analysis of the show regardless of your feelings toward it, much love and I’m definitely peeping the rest of your vids
Great analysis! A fun observation for a filmophile: The opening shot pays homage to the opening scene of Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange! Which further makes it a nice foreshadow to the revelation of Jocelyn's character. The closeup of the manipulator/evil protagonist (Jocelyn/Alex), zooming out to a bunch of "mannequins", real or fake. The synth music is similar, and even the 4 faces on the painting behind Jocelyn could be the 4 droogies in ACO.
Excellent analysis!! I think possibly she brought out Tedros as a "fuck you" to her team. From the beginning she was fed up with her team and trying to go against them. It's possible she really DOES love Tedros as well -- maybe because he's manipulative like she is and she likes that similarity?? Or just likes that she can control him? But anyway, the scene with the team talking about the article and being stoked Tedros is out of the picture, leaving them seemingly back in control of Jocelyn, then the reveal of Tedros on stage and their shocked reactions... it shows how Jocelyn doesn't let ANYONE think they're in control of her.
You've brought up a lot of great points I missed when I watched it. If the show wasn't so reliant on sex scenes it would have been much better received.
Just wrapped up a rerun of the show; I think the prior production drama marred the show itself and gave it bad reception but the show is splendid and unique. Otherwise the Weeknd carried his lyrical theme (sex&dominance) on to the show and I wasn't surprised there....
Would you mind doing a part 2 of how you view the series on hindsight? Like a retrospective style commentary reflecting any changed options or ones that were strengthened by finding more arguments to support your analysis here? I come back to this video regularly cause I enjoy your thought process❤

I never thought about the show like that this is kinda eye opening
Great analysis!

🤯I didn't even think that the 4 faces on the painting could represent the droogies. Thanks for that connection!

Jocelyn choosing Tedros makes perfect sense. It's a callback to famous singers choosing bad boys who have nothing to offer them.

lol Sam Levinson loves adding stuff just for shock value
I’m one of the ppl who had no interest in watching the show at all but I enjoyed your analysis.
You are underestimating the power and control of owning a person. Diddy and Cassie are examples of what this film tried to show

The flashback ep was removed so we’ll never see the whole thing a complete disappointment
This show looks like a clearance rack version of Empire. The Weeknd should stick to music.
