i’m 21, and i grew up without seeing much black-girl representation, so i thought that something was wrong with how i looked. aisha/layla was one of the first dark skinned girl with curly hair i saw, and she was beautiful, fierce, and had a plot that i related to. i also feel like i have stella’s personality, and the wallpaper on my laptop is a gif of their enchantix transformation and have winx club wallpapers on my phone. my favorite version is the 4kids dub because i like the soundtrack and how the voice actors were funny and more expressive when depicting the characters’ personalities

Even though my personality is more like Stella I still love the variety in the girls and how we can relate to more than one of them based on not just physical appearance but also traits. THAT is how you write diversity.

Everyone gives the 4kids dub hell but it is the best one imo. It’s the only dub where the characters actually have personality/emotion and each voice is recognisably different. Also Lisa Ortiz as icy is unbeatable and that alone makes 4 kids the best.
I also love how Lisa just brought that hip edge to Musa’s voice and image especially in season 1 episode 9 when she was being chased by the witches of Cloud Tower and when she ran into Riven begging him to help her and he said that he’s with Darcy now she ran off saying “You’re a two-face playa!”
i’ve never watched the 4 kids dub but the characters definitely have distinct voices and personalities in the cinellume (no clue how to spell it) dub too. also i hear it’s much more faithful to the original story

I’ve actually been watching Winx for the first time and I’m watching the 4Kids version. Honestly it sounds a lot like you described except Domino is called Sparks. Also when you asked why Riven liked Darcy in the first place, at least the way I watched it, Darcy placed a love spell on him.

Also, i want to talk that, in Brazil, Winx is very popular, with it even being considered as a "Sigma thing". Its dubbing here was less complex than the English version, with the cartoon having just one version, with the voice actresses only changing in the later seasons. Taking off this, can you recap W. I. T. C. H.?
I love how when the parents say that they want to come with Bloom to the magic world, Stella just plays along and lets them pack all of their things and prepare for the journey just for them to walk three steps in the magic world and be immediately blocked by a magic barrier. Like Stella knew they would not be able to come with and still let them go through all of the logistics just to prove a point, that was unintentionally hilarious Also the animation is so wonky, I do not know a lot about this kind of stuff, but it legit looks like they got the keyframes and the inbetweens mixed up or something. You can kinda tell that they really tried, and I think other visual aspects of the show are pretty cool, like the character designs of the main girls are super good in my opinion, they are very distinct and recognizable. The art style is super weird though, the eyes just constantly cling to the very edge of the face and their faced overall look so goofy. Also they make so many perspective errors especially in background characters, I remember there was one battle scene towards the end of season 1 and there were a bunch of dudes duking it out against some monsters in the distance, and because they couldn't be bothered to figure out how to draw a dude from a top down perspective they literally just rotated one of them ninety degrees, it was ingenious I only got into the show again because one of my friends got forced by one of her uni friends to watch some episodes and then we continued watching, we laughed our butts off at so many unintentionally funny moments, it was great. We dunked on it a lot, but I think if I had seen more of it as a little girl, I would have beek hooked. The idea is really cool and the characters are pretty memorable in my opinion, and as far as I know the animation gets a lot more consistent in the later seasons. And I'm pretty sure kid me would have developed a crush on Timmy, he is best boy.

I love this video 😭💗 As a uni student on break I decided to rewatch Winx because of this video and it has brought me so much comfort and peace. 💕💕 Personally I prefer the 4Kids version because the voice actors for the characters are so much more compatible with the characters and express way more emotion. Also the dialogue is much more better? I don’t know how to explain it. However, the theme and ending songs for the RAI versions are way better than the 4Kids version !!! Winx is just great overall and I agree with you 100% that you vividly notice the differences between the dubbing versions completely, especially with the dialogue.

My main problem with Winx Club: Bloom and Sky relationships in later season. Bloom sometimes is a Mary sue. They kill off Nabu. Musa and River relationship
Don't forget: Daphne's weird Sirenix story, Flora's little sister can't decide which age she is, Encantix isn't the final transformation, Flora and Tecna basically don't exist later on, the villains get cringe. That are my pet peeves with the story

I was all over winx club as a kid. Only two season were on Netflix, so that’s all I knew and thought existed until stumbling back onto the show a few months ago. I was thriving for this show and most of all, loved Riven and Musa! The slight enemies to lovers, I’m a sucker for it! The fact that season two ended off on a good note, I was happy for how I thought it ended. But then! I come to find out there’s six more seasons, each one fucking up Rivusa more than the last, and the artwork getting more outrageously insane to where Riven looks like a strong lesbian women😀 I was mortified when watching the new seasons. I won’t lie, season three and four, were hella good. My only tick was the unnecessary drama between a couple that had so much potential. It sucked how wasted it became after season four. Out of all the specialists, Riven was definitely the most fascinating out of all of them, and that’s why I would’ve loved it the show had explored them more. But they didn’t and instead added pointless drama🫠
Oh, I know ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING about the show. lol I grew up with the 4kids TV version and for a US audience, they had the best dialogue. However, the Rai version was dubbed pretty much word for word from the Italian version. Also, Rai didn't cut out or switch around scenes. Then Nickelodeon redubbed seasons 3 & 4, but after the 4th season the show began to go downhill. Now, it's getting another reboot. We'll see how this goes with "season 9."

One of my favourite shows when I was little. I usually watch it in Spanish because I was born in Spain. When I moved to the UK, I switched between Spanish, English and Italian since Spanish wasn't always available. I don't like what Netflix did with the story. It doesn´t feel like Winx club as it was missing the magical scenery aspect and also the Y2K fashion. The Winx fairies were super fashionable.

this was my entire childhood, i swear so much of my personality revolved around winx club. seasons 1-5 were peak, i rewatch seasons 3-4 at least once a year for the nostalgia, even though I'm well-past the target demographic lol
cannot even explain how obssessed my sister and I were with this show it was actually a problem.

Personally I prefer the 4Kids version because the voice actors for the characters are so much more compatible with the characters and express way more emotion. Also the dialogue is much more better? I don’t know how to explain it. However, the theme and ending songs for the RAI versions are way better than the 4Kids version !!! Winx is just great overall and I agree with you 100% that you vividly notice the differences between the dubbing versions completely, especially with the dialogue.
My younger cousin (we both males) used to watch winx club when no one was around. I started watching passively and got interested also had fun time bonding over common interests

Bloom and Sky relationships in later season.
Bloom sometimes is a Mary sue.
They kill off Nabu.
Musa and River relationship
Don't forget: Daphne's weird Sirenix story, Flora's little sister can't decide which age she is, Encantix isn't the final transformation, Flora and Tecna basically don't exist later on, the villains get cringe. That are my pet peeves with the story

I remember watching the show on Netflix when I was little and I got thoroughly confused when Brandon and Sky were swapped, like I was 6 and had to rewatch multiple episodes to make sure I wasn't going insane 💀anyways Flora, the Trix and Musa (and her nemesis too ohhh my goddddd) solos they were so cool

i remember waking up during summer when i was like 7-8 and at 10:30 every weekday on Nickelodeon, i would watch Winx Club and listen to the S4 song. that song made my day and it still does. i seriously wish Roxy was in more then just that one season
Roxy will always be my favorite Winx member. It's a shame she got demoted from a main character to a side character.

I was all over winx club as a kid. Only two season were on Netflix, so that’s all I knew and thought existed until stumbling back onto the show a few months ago. I was thriving for this show and most of all, loved Riven and Musa! The slight enemies to lovers, I’m a sucker for it! The fact that season two ended off on a good note, I was happy for how I thought it ended. But then! I come to find out there’s six more seasons, each one fucking up Rivusa more than the last, and the artwork getting more outrageously insane to where Riven looks like a strong lesbian women😀
I was mortified when watching the new seasons. I won’t lie, season three and four, were hella good. My only tick was the unnecessary drama between a couple that had so much potential. It sucked how wasted it became after season four. Out of all the specialists, Riven was definitely the most fascinating out of all of them, and that’s why I would’ve loved it the show had explored them more. But they didn’t and instead added pointless drama🫠

Oh, I know ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING about the show. lol I grew up with the 4kids TV version and for a US audience, they had the best dialogue. However, the Rai version was dubbed pretty much word for word from the Italian version. Also, Rai didn't cut out or switch around scenes. Then Nickelodeon redubbed seasons 3 & 4, but after the 4th season the show began to go downhill. Now, it's getting another reboot. We'll see how this goes with "season 9."

Hoping you end up doing the rest of the show, it's my favorite cartoon tied with Miraculous. For me personally, Bloom is my favorite from the series, always has been and always will be. I just think a bunch of people hate on her because of that "hate the main character" trend. Idk, Bloom hatred just always felt so forced to me and I genuinely don't understand how you could hate her or any of the Winx for that matter. Sure she makes mistakes, but literally so does everyone else on that show.

I was one of the guys who watched the Winx Club back in the day. My little sister and I remember enjoying that show when we caught it on the Saturday morning cartoons. Good times. . .
One of my favourite shows when I was little. I usually watch it in Spanish because I was born in Spain. When I moved to the UK, I switched between Spanish, English and Italian since Spanish wasn't always available. I don't like what Netflix did with the story. It doesn´t feel like Winx club as it was missing the magical scenery aspect and also the Y2K fashion. The Winx fairies were super fashionable.

I watched the 4kidz version, which called blooms home planet sparks instead of domino so I was so confused when you said her home planet was domino.
