This video is a year old at this point but I just wanna share that my 3D animation teacher was one of the 3 animators in New Vegas and apparently too this day the Obsidian office is still littered with bottle caps which makes me super happy
As soon as you walk into the lobby they have a huge tub of bottlecaps from that one fan who sent them in for a copy of New Vegas. They pay a lot of respect to their history and its cool to see it throughout the studio.
I've played Dust twice and never realized there was a story behind the dusk walkers; I honestly just thought, 'oh well, more meat for the meatgrinder.' Also, after searching for the courier for hours and never finding him, learning that he was in Lake Mead, now Canyon Mead, is mind-boggling. Also, if the courier and Ulysses fought, it implies that the nuclear bomb had to go somewhere. Where did the courier send the nuke in the dust verse? I knew there was a story behind Dust, but I had no idea how much there was.
According to Dust's mod author, The Courier at the very least nuked the long 15 in his attempt to further cripple the NCR's ability to stay in the region. It's not explicitly said whether he also nukes the Legion at Dry Wells, but between you and me, it wouldn't surprise me if he went full scorched earth on everyone
@@DevixianTheOriginal Depends on how you see it. Everything he did was nothing compared to what the NCR did after. If you ignore the megalomaniac aspect, you can argue the courier did everything to guarantee the Mojave settlements wouldn't be forced to be annexed to by a flawed and expansionist NCR. Everyone of us, mostly, consider the ending where the Courier convince Graham to fight back the vest one, and from their perspective there was no reason to forgive the man that hurt so much the new Cananites after you erradicated half his army, just to send a message. The dead money ending is not worst necessary, he could have helped the companions and after everything Elijah could have escaped and killed Christine. Bombarding the NCR supply routes makes a lot more sense for the long-term independency, he's inly mistake was to let Oliver alive, who take over NCR government and seek revenge.
I feel bad about the Dust walkers, but I can't help but feel they brough it on themselves. There is a pretty divide (ha) between 'doing nothing' and 'killing everyone who comes from the tunnel'. If there had been a big barricade with some guys on top of it who tried to talk or even a note scrawled on the wall telling people they will shoot outsiders on sight then it wouldn't have happened and even if they didn't want to do either of those, hey could've blasted the tunnel shut and be done with it, they have enough pre-war explosives after all.
Yeah it really annoys me how the mod portrays the dust walkers as some kind of unintended consequence like its profound. Just because one raider band walked through doesnt mean the next ones will be evil as well, we all know the sorrows and dead horses werent exactly looking for a fight and then the mod tries to make you feel bad when they shoot you in the face and attack you with deathclaws. Not to mention the marked men should be smart enough to not fall for the superstition but whatever whatever
@@darklight6921 explosive weapons, armor piercing rounds, anti material rifles, etc etc probably the same ways the NCR beat the Brotherhood back at Helios One.
@@jadedteevee a better question is how the hell did the ncr have the ability to pull a full invasion of Vegas after 1) the long 15 got nuked 2) being pushed out of Vegas The Mojave was like the ncr's Vietnam a brutal drawn out taxing campaign for little to no reward. Combine that with the economic troubles there implied to have in game back home and I can't figure out how they would have managed it and presumably they also had to fight what was left of the courier's coalition it's my one main sticking point with the story
While watching this seeing the machinimas I thought verbatim “damn imagine if the storyteller survived and started keeping logs with a slight tinge of insanity” then the reveal at the end was just chefs kiss
I thought it was more akin to a cult beginning to grow round the storyteller mainly cause he published his works as a series of holotapes and I wouldn't be surprised if there were books and firsthand accounts of him and many people 10 to 20 years after IN the dust universe his accounts and observations being practically the only thing left
Primm Slimm is truly a beacon of civilization, so glad you mentioned this. Also just an amazing video. You have such a great way of explaining your points mixed with great editing that made me laugh when it was funny or made me listen up when it got serious. Clips of songs between segments were essential . This is my ideal kind of video essay. Keep it up!
Now, I know you said it ain't technically a mod or nothin' But is there any chance you'd distribute it anywhere? Or at the very least kinds point people in the right direction of how to do it themselves if distributing caretakers stuff isn't feasible?
Pro-tip to those wanting to play Dust for the first time: The Elite Riot Gear found on the courier *does* break pretty easily. But, even while it’s broken, it still has a DT of 12, which for dust is pretty damn good. So broken Elite Riot Gear is basically somewhat heavy, unbreakable, pretty good armor that you can’t take off. It also looks fucking incredible.
As someone who has played DUST of a total of 7 times it is truly one of my favorite mods. It's even more of a challenge if you install most of the popular companion mods for FNV and try to keep every companion alive to make it to one of the endings.
I've actually used the CCC mod that lets me recruit anybody, recruited anyone who wasn't hostile, and brought them back to base with me. I then build up a team that's 100% mortal, and then try to escape keeping as many people alive as I can. No save-scumming, no foul-ups. Youd be surprised how great it gets when you dont just have to worry about your own life.
Just hearing that this mod follows through with the nasty fart fog from the Sierra Madre and the creepy tunnelers from The Divide makes me love it already. I loved that they made the Mojave feel so doomed with looming threats like those
The Mario metaphor was actually incredibly apt lmao. Every time I play Dust, I feel like I have to curl up in the Tops in vanilla NV listening to the ambient music play as my 9 companions chill out afterwards because a part of me feels legitimately hurt that the world of New Vegas could be broken to such a degree. It almost makes me feel thankful that New Vegas is able to be what it is as a title in my mind that I can feel terrible about the horrors of Dust in contrast. It also impacts the choices I make in New Vegas (Killing Elijah in Dead Money, doing everything I can do strengthen New Vegas and the grassroots institutions of the Mojave, installing the Romance Ulysses mod, etc) because a part of my mind is sorta scarred with a fear of having a Dust scenario happen after the events of Hoover Dam, even though I fully am aware that Dust is just fiction. It's nice seeing a long-form video essay on it!
Thank you! It was actually one of the first things I had written for the video back in like July lmao, but I'm glad to see that it actually was effective and wasn't just an excuse to get my friend to make "mario gets stabbed" artwork
100% agree. After learning about where the story goes, I've been obsessively watching the new series looking for differences in my playthrough of the base game that would make Dust "non-canon" to my particular New Vegas story. "Oh, thank god, the Courier of Dust bombs both the Legion and the Long 15 in the Dust timeline, and I only bombed the Legion. So now I'm safe from Dust ever happening in mine.... Right?" I totally know Dust is non-canon, but it's frighteningly LOGICAL in terms of the way it handles the story. Sure, maybe the NCR feels a little cruel in my opinion, and I can't believe Rose of Sharon Cassidy would die so easily, but overall the scariest part of Dust is how easily it slots into New Vegas-there's practically no suspension of disbelief required.
@@stonewoodstudios Yeah, it goes to show how a jackass Courier 6 could ruin things for the Mojave if they aren't careful. It reinforces, personally, the need to play the game nicely, and also how many choices you have in NV
all of Dust can be described as: Remember that one NCR ranger set from Honest Hearts with "Forgive me mama" written on its helmet? Yeah wouldnt it be cool if we made a whole game based on it?
I feel like the dust divide does a better job than the divide proper with the "reckless/thoughtless exploration brings destruction". Like Ulysses monologs on it, and you have to detonate more and more nukes to pass through, but your enemies just feel like goons instead of like a real people just trying to get by
I would love to play dust but honestly getting it to install is a total pain in the butt, it'd be rad to see a mod collection on nexus just packing what you used, also I found your stuff fairly recently but I dig the style and the way you handled the story-telling bit was what really sold me
@@0verWay its not really you, just install with vortex. Annoying part is just downloading like the 10 other mods you will probably need to enhance the experience which just takes some extra time. They could be complaining about all the patches to make it work with other mods. In my experience its best to just start at 0 with these type of things.
Best way Ive found to play Dust (or Frost for Fallout 4) is to install the mod on a freshly installed game. That always seems to clear the palate of most things that would cause problems. From there, its installing the script extender along with a dozen or so mods that help stabilize things (along with a few quality of life mods for personal preference) and off you go. I did this a week ago when I decided to play Dust again and Ive only had the game crash once in the 15 or so hours Ive played. I also like animation mods that help make the Mojave feel more alive; like mods that make the grass and bushes move with the wind. Those all seem to be very lightweight and dont cause problems with Dust.
You should try out Fo4 Frost it's kinda like Dust and might have been inspired by it. I'd love to see your opinions on it It takes place about 5 years after the bombs fell. The Vaults are still shut and the world is still in nuclear winter. Frost has it's own story which you uncover from notes and visual storytelling and do actually progress a story, once you discover it. It'd be right up your alley
That entire part of the dustwalkers is kinda brought down by the fact that it's completely optional. If you had to go into the divide to get to heaven's staircase it would be more impactful.
@@jadedteeveeExcept you don't really have a choice to kill everyone. They shoot first. You could walk in there with no weapons, armour, anything and still get shot first. It's self defense.
Dust, Frost, and Obscurum, I really appreciate the way they approach gameplay and storytelling, letting the player decide how they want to approach any situation, with all quiet contemplative moments sprinkled inbetween.
The universe has a strange way of speaking to me. For the last few weeks I've been playing DUST, reading notes and have always thought of a Shoddycast like lore series for DUST, only to find out that you're doing it. I cant wait to see it when it comes out, love your content bro!
Posing, writing out messages, and building shrines with corpses/items is something most players have probably done once in a playthrough of New Vegas. God knows how many Freeside dumpsters i’ve filled with the corpses of muggers or how many Legion troops I’ve made do immature “yoga”. It’s really interesting to recontextualize that and paint it as the grizzly and visceral act it actually is. Cool to imagine just how much thought was put into something so seemingly small. Excellent worldbuilding on the dev’s part.
Just now finding your channel, seeing what your other videos are, it's always nice finding a channel relatively early into creating content and getting to watch as they discover their niche and what works for them. I have a feeling a lot of growth will come from this video, and I hope that your channel continues in this sort of direction, it's a really nice one!
I could see the series being really good, with limited voice over, and a generally dreary atmosphere. Call it something like “Tales of Dust” or “The Land of Dust” and it would attract a lot of people who don’t want to go through the hassle of modding Dust into their game.
The thing about dust is you could consider it canon as all the events that happen in dust were destined and expected to happen after the events of new vegas and you'll learn this through Ulysses and Elijah. Both tell you how the radioactive fog of the Sierra Madre will spread out eventually into the mojave, and how the tunnelers will leave the divide and also go to the Mojave, how the ghost people will wander farther and farther, the plague caused by the fog, Those two events alone are the main reasons for why the mojave turned into a hellhole
But some events are the results of the specific decisions made by the Courier (most of them are pretty bad decisions), like the Courier becoming an enemy of the NCR or Joshua's tribals becoming wamongering assholes
@@youarealwayscorrect Well lets assume the NCR ending is canon, and the NCR would very much like to control every move this powerhouse of a person does, but the courier doesnt want to comply therefore the NCR tries to get rid of them and paint them as the new bad guy, and thats thats pretty plausible. However Joshuas tribals is a harder one to try and reason here because if everything the courier did in zion is canon such as reading Randal Clarkes computers, he would've tried to stop the the tribals from fighting amongst themselves because well I highly doubt it canon the courier is more genocidal then the enclave, so your second assumption is true
Super solid deep dive into Dust, my dude! I've been wanting someone to do something like this ever since I sat down and played this beast of a mod mid last year. Very well crafted and put together, you've earned my sub. Definitely looking forward to the follow-up videos.
I know you're a real one for including that little shoddycast shout out. I'm very much looking forward to the new lore videos you will make and thank you for making quality content. I will desperately shill your channel to my friends. Great vid!!
DUST gives an experience I've only experienced ever twice before, and both of those other experiences provide an alternate aspect on the gloom and dread provided by DUST. First being DarkEnd, for skyrim. A questless quest-mod that honestly, if you liked DUST, you should check out. Relatively short and sweet with a nonlinear story and OUTSTANDING atmosphere. Would HIGHLY recommend it! Second being Relics of Hyrule for skyrim. A mod that I think ABSOLUTELY Needs more coverage by ANYONE with a platform to get it out there and let more people know about it. It's a LONG, VERY deep story that I absolutely ADORE. And think more people should play. I recommend you check it out, 100%. If you thought DUST was a masterpiece, Relics of Hyrule is a WORLD WONDER. Great vid, man. Absolutely loved it. Keep up the great work
The analogy about mario getting stabbed and only realizing what that means when you see the blood is exactly the feeling I got when watching Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. When he gets cut and you see the blood and his fur raise.
Dust is one of those mods I thought I'd never get far in, but something about it kept me reeled in. I just had to find more notes, see what happened to this place, find this one dead dude, it was grueling at times but addicting. I still remember shuffling and sneaking my way around as Old Dusty, the oldest man in Fallout Dust barring ghouls, trying my best to repair the plane at Jean Sky Diving to leave. Had to spend the first few fights letting tunnelers wipe people out while I hid and snuck what scraps away I could... there really isn't another mod like it out there, so even if the challenge of it seems like a lot, anyone who's a fan of the series should give it a try, it really is something to behold.
SO happy that Dust has been getting so much recognition lately, its probably my favorite Fallout Mod of all time. Bethesda should really be taking notes!
I do appreciate the effort and details put into this mod but i feel it just shits on New Vegas' whole core message, "Old World Blues", leave the past behind and rebuild civilization. DUST basically does what people critized FO3 for doing.
Ah, my personal favourite mod. The Ultimate ENCLAVE experience, where, with a little bit tweaking and other mods, you can inburg in journey to purify the entire Mojave Wasteland as member of the Enclave Kill-Team.
The fact that an enclave simp is here supporting a video made by a dude who openly supports LGBT people is...interesting. I don't think you actually know who SpacemanScott is. In the first minute of this video he literally calls himself a "recovering heterosexual" He also says, "ladies, gentlemen, and those outside the binary", meaning that he supports non-binary people. I really think you're in the wrong place, Mr anti-lgbt enclave simp. In the DESCRIPTION of this very video he says "Trans Rights are Human Rights"
You were smile while you were saying "you better fookin watch it" (wording slightly changed so i wont get obliterated by yt) and that made me subscribe thats the vibe i like
legit dont remember how i came across your stuff but i cant remember the last time i saw a single video by someone and was like "OH SHIT THEY DID ANOTHER ONE" when I see a new one dropped. keep up the great work!
no dialogue is the best feature of Dust: Imagine walking the wasteland underneath a blood red sky bundled under 3 layers of armor and cloth to hold back radiation poisoning while boiling in 98 degree heat, for many weeks you are in the Mojave without speaking or hearing a word to or from anyone other than an occasional merchant, canonically I like to think the Survivor doesn't say a word for their entire time traveling in the Mojave.
I’ll be honest, my only experience with DUST has been Mike and Zach’s playthrough of it, which didn’t exactly paint it in the best of light, but after watching this video, every neuron in my body is itching to play this mod, and I haven’t even finished one playthrough of Fallout New Vegas
Just a tip. Mod New Vegas' gameplay to be in line with dust, finish a regular playthrough and then switch to dust. The world feels so much more interesting to walk through with the context of the main game and the whiplash of the difficulty won't catch you too off guard
I appreciate that intro. New Vegas is definitely in my top 3. Hearing your genuine testimony has motivated me to get Dust. I haven’t played New Vegas since way back so it should be both nostalgic and new.
I escaped in dust. My god what a shitshow it was. Got to camp Maccaran and took the vertibirt, which i thought was the ending. It wasn't. Took me to the fucking Serria Madre... somehow even more fucked up than your last visit. Truly shat my pants as i run through thick red clouds worst than before with endless spawning ghost people. Oh and i had used all my supplies just getting to the vertibird and its parts, so i had only the random shit that was in the serria madre. Somehow i made it out of that hellscape but man was it dreadful to realize where i was after thinking i had truly escaped.
Fallout New Vegas is a game that I'm well aware that I should play, yet have never really felt the desire to do so. Despite that, this video is making me consider playing a mod for this game that I've never actually sat down and played longer than an hour. I mean, I probably still won't play it because I've already got so much other stuff in my backlog and I'm certain I'll need to have a playthrough or two of vanilla FNV under my belt beforehand, but this video has enough passion behind it to make me consider it. Good stuff, Scotty boy 👍
No joke, the Digital Nightmare music mod gave me flashbacks to Spec Ops: The Line. Gentlemen, welcome to the Mojave desert, and just remember... You brought this on yourself.
Thanks to you, I've decided to learn how to mod games. Also purchase New Vegas Ultimate Edition but that kinda is expected. Your story telling ability ontop of the already excellent environmental one being laid out with voices from my boy Gianni was superb. I'm a huge horror head and a lover of fallout so an alternate reality 20 years from now where my pacifistic mailman did not come out the same after being shot twice and it destroying the wasteland is a fascinating idea. I look forward to playing your mod pack you made which I'm painstakingly downloading, and hearing the stories you have found and will share.
Idk if it's a glitch but when I went to good springs, although stating lore wise that it's abandoned and only has 1 insane resident left and the rest are just rabid dogs. But when I showed up, the entire town was alive and well outside and opened fire.
Will definitely be checking this mod out, and I really can't applaud you enough for putting across the feeling of knowing what the Mojave and it's surrounding areas would look like after a 20 year period of true hell, and a true hell that relates to all of the heinous outcomes that intentional or not were the outcomes of our doing a metaphorical 20 years prior. This may be a rudementary comparison of that feeling, but with October passing us by I've recently gone through the Dead Space series, and although the events in question are wholly different from each other in scenario etc, Isaac's visible dread and reluctance to revisit the Ishimura in the second entry is one instance I can draw connections to. Although in Dust, we're constantly learning about the things we once knew morphing into these apocalyptic horrors, we know what happened within the Ishimura and how it had affected Isaac, and you can even hear it in his voice, and for all the things he endured there he wants to get the hell out ASAP. But just the feeling of walking through these clean room styled hallways which just a few mere years prior were rusted, blood stained and entirely hostile, its a truly disturbing feeling. Also, the stache is baller man.
So this video has persuaded me to play Dust, however, I plan on playing through New Vegas and all the DLC baseline first just to refresh myself for what's to come. This video is super well done and I will be using the mods you have here for it as well. Also take my subscription, video essay content man.
I appreciated all the hard work of the previous Markiplier video you did, but I hadn’t subscribed because I didn’t know if it would be a one-off. Seeing this, a comprehensive glance into a mod I also enjoy for a game I love, has sold me on your content. Seeing the incoming DUST content just affirmed I’d made a good choice. Awesome work, the platform is better for having you, and I’ll be sure to watch your content in the future.
I just want to say I really love your voice and this video was extremely pleasant to watch. Your voice reminds me of postal dude. Its such a great radio voice you totally get my sub and I can not wait for more of your dust lore content!
One of my longtime friends got me to play dust without much context. Seeing the redness in the sky and realizing it was the cloud was gut wrenching and horrifying. Thanks for making this video.
I just happened to click on this video, and when I heard your voice and name and noticed something felt familiar. Your the sound designer on Less is Morgue, I love your work!
I don’t know if you intend on trying other overhaul type mods for Fallout but FROST, the Fallout 4 equivalent of DUST, is also great. It does suffer in the same ways Fallout 4 does, mostly due to the game itself rather than the mod, but is def worth a try if you want to see more. Another one that has a bit more of a semi-humorous take but still just as grueling and difficult is Obscurum. The author does seem to be somewhat apologetic some for some of the “dark humor” but the gameplay is so good regardless; it too also has a mode equivalent for Fallout 4 (and 3 apparently), although it’s still in development. Also happy to see that you followed up your prior video with this one, a one-two punch of great video essay type videos, especially this one being for my absolute favorite game and mod for that game too. Super excited to see what you put out next. P.S. screw you to UA-cam’s algorithm for never showing me this video when it originally came out.
It's actually confirmed this was a yes man playthrough, almost none of the house requirements haven't been met, boomer quest not complete, Gomorrah was still corrupt as fuck and the brotherhood wasn't wiped out. the courier over all didn't really complete that many quests, my personal head Canon is that he was a sadistic Speedrunner who's beat the game so many times they don't care about it
Not going to lie that skeleton segment caught me off guard: it even had me smiling with the bone pun. Skeleton aside, I think the main problem that most people who didn't like dust had was because it represented something that's literally seen in the Sierra Madre DLC: to let go of the past or in this case the games hype itself. I played through New Vegas and it's DLCs and enjoyed it since I was into Fallout from the first game and second games as a kid and while people say New Vegas had it's development robbed people tend to forget about the fact that it even happened with the first and second fallout titles due to how many ideas the developers had which they had to cut. Fallout DUST is like an old childhood town that's falling apart: sure you had some good memories but the more you try to bring back that nostalgia in rebuilding the town, it'll get worse and worse until it comes to a point where it destroys you completely when you had the chance of moving on and accepting that it's a part of life. Tl:DR just read, it's not that hard.
This mod is in dire need of some sort of remake. It's been created back when modding was still pretty much in it's infancy and because of it it's filled with bugs and questionable gameplay choices.
Idk I’m not a fan of the whole “These guys attack you on sight and you can’t stop them, Only to learn that they were defending themselves” trope. Like it’s so fake deep. Woow, Maybe i’m the bad guy? So groundbreaking.
I'm getting strong Last of Us 2 vibes from this... Plus, in this case, why didn't those guys just collapse the tunnel, at least at the entrance? They have enough explosives to pull it off, I'm sure of it.
If you will humor me a moment... I refused Fallout when I was introduced to it. I wasnt a gamer when 3 and new vegas were released, not like others were and I didnt care about ghouls or tunnel snakes. Until I found Shoddycast. I watched their videos and experienced the Fallout series in a beautifully different way. When I first booted up Fallout 3 I was greeted by a world I had passing familiarity with. I saw people I had heard of and took part in events that that were left beautifully vague in the shoddycast videos. I can't put into words just what that experience was like but it felt like home. If you will excuse the cheesey statements but there was something special about fallout because of that way I was introduced to it. If you fill those shoes, you will have me here. Eager to see where this goes. Good luck and I am very glad I clicked on this video.
I was only going to watch 10 minutes of this and watch a movie instead, ended up watching the entire thing. Great editing and commentary, those gameplay mods make the video mesmerizing
Super amazing video man! I was wondering if you had a full copy of your mod list anywhere for peeps like me to borrow? I've seen loads of videos that talk about Dust on a very surface level but yours was so in depth and was enough to make me actually decide to give the mod a real shot.
For anyone interested, you can do a dust playthrough whilst using certain quest mods One I like doing is For The Enclave, and it feels kinda thematic to eventually have several friendly enclave bases to resupply and find shelter in eventually
Me halfway through the video: FUCK. what I wouldn’t give to see 300 more episodes of this. Me at the end of the video: oh my god, I didn’t have to give anything!
Dust is one of my absolute favourite Fallout New Vegas mods, I have a dedicated Nexus setup just to play it and it is one of the most intense gaming experiences of my life! It always keeps me interested in just progressing a little further or trying to go a different route and see more lore I may have missed on each subsequent playthrough

@@DevixianTheOriginal He also seemed to have destroyed the Secuirtron army and made Hoover Dam unusable
If the dust courier is following an independent bad karma run then he/she most definitely did a little bit of trolling on everyone.
@@SpacemanScott where is it written?
Do you know why just confirm the nuking of long 15 and not dry wells?
When I finished DUST, my character was still sane.
...I'm not sure I can say the same for myself.
The same brain cell, you and i.
Exactly what I was thinking as I was watching the video
Yeah it really annoys me how the mod portrays the dust walkers as some kind of unintended consequence like its profound. Just because one raider band walked through doesnt mean the next ones will be evil as well, we all know the sorrows and dead horses werent exactly looking for a fight and then the mod tries to make you feel bad when they shoot you in the face and attack you with deathclaws. Not to mention the marked men should be smart enough to not fall for the superstition but whatever whatever
Just one of those things that for the sake of it happening it had to happen.
But their tunnelers...they tunnel. Unlike EA.... it's in the name!!
Dust made me take on the mindset of "If I keep throwing myself at this situation over and over again, maybe chaos theory will stop being a thing!"

Combine that with the economic troubles there implied to have in game back home and I can't figure out how they would have managed it and presumably they also had to fight what was left of the courier's coalition it's my one main sticking point with the story

I loved that they made the Mojave feel so doomed with looming threats like those
It truly is the worst timeline ending for New Vegas, an unending nightmare of death and desolation - and fun!
Oh wow, now I’ll start calling that fog the fart fog, thanks for this gem.

Right?"
I totally know Dust is non-canon, but it's frighteningly LOGICAL in terms of the way it handles the story.

I would love to play dust but honestly getting it to install is a total pain in the butt, it'd be rad to see a mod collection on nexus just packing what you used, also I found your stuff fairly recently but I dig the style and the way you handled the story-telling bit was what really sold me
Why is it hard to install? I'm new to modding and I hate mods that need like 50 extra steps to work....
I'd love to see your opinions on it
It takes place about 5 years after the bombs fell. The Vaults are still shut and the world is still in nuclear winter. Frost has it's own story which you uncover from notes and visual storytelling and do actually progress a story, once you discover it. It'd be right up your alley

Thank you! Super excited to share what me and the others have been cooking up
Posing, writing out messages, and building shrines with corpses/items is something most players have probably done once in a playthrough of New Vegas.
0:11 Idk if anyone else noticed it, but the drawing of the ncr ranger in the beginning has 6 fingers on one hand
Makes you wonder if the obsidian devs at the time set themselves up for this sort of story.

The story of the Dust Walkers gives me the same vibes as when Deckard retires Pris near the end of Blade Runner

Thanks to you, I've decided to learn how to mod games. Also purchase New Vegas Ultimate Edition but that kinda is expected. Your story telling ability ontop of the already excellent environmental one being laid out with voices from my boy Gianni was superb.
Bethesda be like "Fallout DUST is great and is the canon ending to FNV" haha
Not really. DUST was already based on the lore in New Vegas' DLC's.

Man, I LOVE that analogy of an old childhood town falling apart. Kinda makes me wish I thought of that instead of Mario getting stabbed...

"Lost in the Desert" by Johnny Cash will forever be linked in my brain to DUST.
Killer video.
For sure! I'm putting together a full google doc with link to all the mods I used rn - keep an eye out on my community tab for the link
For anyone interested, you can do a dust playthrough whilst using certain quest mods
One I like doing is For The Enclave, and it feels kinda thematic to eventually have several friendly enclave bases to resupply and find shelter in eventually
