I have been collecting potion bottles and creating potion art for 20 years. I have over 1000 bottles. I coat my cheap corks on the inward side with Flex Seal (liquid rubber) before sealing the bottle. It helps fill in irregularities in the cork surface. I could use wine bottle quality corks, but they are too expensive to bother with, and the sizes of my bottles are not all the same as wine bottles. Carving cork is time-consuming and messy. (I have more money invested in corks than I do in thrift and craft store bottles.) Straight-neck bottles seal better for liquids. Bottles with an inside lip, (like vases,) are nearly impossible to fully seal, so I use them for dry ingredients, herbs, and powders. I don't use rubber corks because I'm going for the ancient-looking pre-technology wizard vibe.
Really I have some bottles that are worth quite a bit of money. I have this really genie bottle shape that I need to sell and I have other ones that are supposedly worth a lot, but I’d be willing to part with time traveler 1111

You inspired me to start doing potions myself even though I never did anything that has to do with crafting or DIY before. Finally! I've been wanting to decorate my shelves with mini potion bottles for so long, but every recipe is different and none of them explained why they made their choices different. I feel more comfortable using my limited resources now that I know what is actually going on. Tysm
imagine a website where you could choose the type of bottle, liquid, swirl or not, color, label, seal etc all that in a graphic animation like a video game where its us, little apprentice making the potion in a apothecary laboratory. and at the end when you have completed the potion you can buy it and its ship to you in a cool cardboard package printed with theme for the product (like a old crate or something like that). It requires probably a lot of work and developing the thing would cost a lot but i'm sure the idea could make a lot of money.
I haven't been through comments yet, but I'd like to share a tip I use. When changing colors in your glue gun, you can use up that waste glue by making seals. Just put a daub of glue on a silicone mat or parchment paper and immediately press with a metal seal. Let it cool enough to touch and pop it off. Now you have a faux seal that can be painted and glued on ribbon or paper with a tiny touch of hot glue later. No wasted glue! I also collect my glue scraps and waste drops to remelt later for sculpting with a junk mini iron used only for that purpose.
Also, do you have labels available for sake as stickers rather than downloads? Lots of folks don't have printers or (like myself) are lazy. I'd love to support a fellow artist and be able to throw more paying customers your way!
I found a random DIY potion bottle at a Goodwill one day. I decided to buy it because it was so beautiful. It’s a mana potion that is clear at first with blue mica powder. I love the iridescent look as well when I mix it. It also has a beautiful silvery wax seal on top. It inspired me to make my own potions. I’m happy to have come across your channel, detailing how to make them. I really appreciate it!

Hmm. Perhaps phoenix blood? It could be an ingredient in a healing draught. Have you ever tried making bottle harnesses? I made one for my phoenix ash bottle so I could wear it on the belt of my earth mage costume. I essentially made a cage from strips of black leather, leaving one end long so I could loop it back on itself to make the belt loop.

What an incredible video with wonderful tips. Everything included you need if you never made one before but would love too. Really wanna try it now myself 💚
From several places, I get them from craft stores like Michael’s and Hobby lobby, places like target, I use recycled bottles from vinegar and oils or liquor you name it. 😊
Making them with alcohol is actually so smart, I made one a while ago to sit on the table during d&d sessions and I made it with water... starting to get a little weird lol. Now that I have some better bottles I'll have to try to make some this way!

Aïcha. Great a thorough tutorial. Thank you so much for helping me make my first potion. I just have a question: is this potion made just with alcohol as the base? I thought you were going to mix it with distilled water but it looked like you used only alcohol.
@@ChocolateShowboy I prefer only alcohol but if alcohol is hard to come by or expensive, or you’re using the potion in a sunny place or for a cosplay; then you can use distilled water and a little alcohol or glycerin.

This is so informative! I owe you the world, I’m doing a potion table fora Halloween party and I was just going to do water!
I just found your channel and I really love how you make your potions. I found a tutorial on Wicked Makers channel and they show how to add a motor and magnets to keep the motion of the potion continual.
I have made bottles with clips but not a full harness. I might have to do that.
I've enjoyed your videos. This one is my favorite. Thank you for all this information. Dawn.
Gracias infinitas te has tomado el tiempo y la buena voluntad. Valiosa información. Éxitos para tu vida!
I watched this video and I wanted to let you know that I was able to make my own. It was an amazing project for my kids. They really loved it.
Oh yay!! I’m so glad! 😊💜
Girl, I feel so lucky right now. I have a mighty need for a whole witches horde of potions, and without speaking it aloud near my phone I still got this suggested! Magic? Magic! 🎉
Thank you for posting this! im definietly going to give it a go. Im a huge Halloween buff and im going to try a few. Ty soo much for step by step instruction and what to use. You are amazing.
Thank you! 😊 I’m glad I could help! 🎃
Finally a video that's covering everything. Thanks.
I haven’t made potions props in many years, and this video inspired me to have some fun again and incorporate a few into my black and green living room…not that I’m Slytherin or anything 😉
Yay! I’m glad I could re-inspire you! 💜
What an incredible video with wonderful tips. Everything included you need if you never made one before but would love too. Really wanna try it now myself 💚
Hi! This is not a hobby of mine, and I just happened to come across your video. I really enjoyed it. You're a very good explainer.
Thank you! 😊
This is extremely useful thank you
Where do you get your bottles? :)
From several places, I get them from craft stores like Michael’s and Hobby lobby, places like target, I use recycled bottles from vinegar and oils or liquor you name it. 😊
Thank you!! 😊
When I was a kid I would use skittles and wash all the dye off and it would leave me with kinda a dirty color that really liked well:)
Making them with alcohol is actually so smart, I made one a while ago to sit on the table during d&d sessions and I made it with water... starting to get a little weird lol. Now that I have some better bottles I'll have to try to make some this way!
Also thank you for the video you’re so clear and concise ❤!
First off, your channel is super cool. I’m actually looking at trying to make a gift for a friend right now and that’s how I found you.
I actually would love to know what program you use for creating your labels. I would need a custom label to start with. So if I could have some pointers in what program to use for creating them, I would be super appreciative.
Thank you for your super informative tips, you’ve earned yourself a subscriber!
I use photoshop to create my labels.
If you need a custom label made I might be able to do that for you, pretty reasonably. If you would want that you can email me and go from there. 😊Cookingandcraftchick@gmail.com
Great tips and great explanation.
Hello! I know this video was from such a long time ago, but I was wondering how I mix in the metallic paint to the rubbing alcohol and how much to use? You used the powder and I’d rather use the paint, so I was hoping you could potentially tell me how much paint I should add to the alcohol! Thank you very much for this in depth tutorial. It was very informative and you are so well spoken!
@@oneartsygamer5146 make sure you shake the paint up good first then really it’s just a small squeeze. Stir up your potion and see if it has enough shimmer, if not add more paint. 😊 here is a video where I used paint.

@ OMGGG thank you so much for your reply!! I’m going to be making a potion for my sister for Christmas, so I’m so happy to have gotten an answer! :D I loved your tutorial the best!! Thank you very much for the link for the video!❤️
Thanks for your video i totally enjoyed this i learned a lot from this video
Thank you so much for this!!! Using this for a Steampunk Bane Project to make the Venom
Those are very pretty, I really like the bottles! Where do you get the bottles at?
Awesome tips
This is so helpful thank you!✨
I love watching your videos! I have made so many apothecary bottles and it was so much fun. Your videos helped so much!
Oh yay!! Thank you! 💜
