The Caro Kann ISNT Boring!

  • The Caro Kann Advance Variation is often considered one of the most testing lines for black to deal with, my opponent was clearly incredibly well booked up on Caro Kann Defense theory and we end up fighting back from a rather bleak Caro Kann position into a potentially winning endgame...

I love looooove loooooooove these slower time controls, when you take your time and think through all the alternatives. This is exactly, what chess should be about! thanks for sharing! :-)

Classical chess is definitely my favourite but rapid is close enough, glad you enjoyed :)

Wow, that was a very impressive game. I’m only a 1200, but the way you explain your thought process is beyond helpful for even players of my calibre. Nice win mate.

All I do in chess is throw games on purpose against people that are like 1700

Your videos have really helped me improve my chess strategies and techniques (especially when using the Caro-Kann... or when I'm up against it😁) thank you😊

    Nice endgame!
Some players can't accept when a position is drawn and play on until it's lost by even avoiding further drawn positions.

Fair point, I'm guilty of that too sometimes but went my way today

It's just a training game so it's fine to take risks.

i play this line as white. its very tricky and you can sometimes win a piece in the opening if black doesn't properly calculate. even if black plays well they often get stuck with this isolated pawn. after dxc4 and this forcing variation with the queen white has the simple plan of castling long and doubling rooks on the d-file to exploit the knight pinned against the queen. if white can maintain the knight pinned to the king with his queen then it seems like the only setup black has to defend the knight is Qc7, Rd8. but then black has king stuck, queen stuck, rook stuck, knight stuck. that looks kind of ugly. its 2 moves for white to double on the file after castling and i don't see how black can fix the problem. oh. should have watched the game first. but i guess you have the same idea in this variation. with Rc8, Qc7, Qc6 to trade queens or white loses the pin and white can't double the rooks in time.

Yeh I think a6 in the position I saw in the analysis is the way to go to diffuse the white squared bishop
