A lot of lava flows occur through tunnels under the crust - there's a walk through an extinct flow tunnel not far from the caldera (Thurston Lava Tube) at the edge of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. More incredible is the stupidity of people at the end of the clip, beyond the safety rope at the edge of the cliff ... I bet they don't offer to pay for the cost of search and/or rescue when they slip and fall. Darwin was right after all.

If the island citizenry and tourists are evacuated to save lives, there goes the money. Whose supposed to finance the recovery after the destruction?
