Great review. Thanks. I bought the 5 litre evadict trail running bag and sent it back because t was too small. Umming and ahhing about trying the 10 liter and you have helped me make up my mind.
This pack si awesome. I highly recommend it for runners on tighter budget. Great for trail runs with your dog or half marathon training in the summertime. Even if it is not full, it does not bounce much (for lighter run I will pack a pack of tissues, 0.5l flask in the front, protein bar, head lamp and purse in the back). When it was full (2 flasks, hydropack, jacket, a lot of food, hiking poles...) it was ok and comfortable :) Fitting info: I wear women's size EUR 36/38 and this pack fits me in size S.
I picked one of these up for £22 In Decathlon last weekend, I was planning on spending £125 on a Salomon back pack, then I asked myself why? All most people need is something to hold their water, a bite to eat, keys, phone etc.. this will do 75% of people just fine.
Yup! I did buy a Salomon one eventually, but that was because I started doing much bigger and longer events and carrying several cameras. I still use the decathlon one for shorter runs
Great vest, bought one before Christmas, super job. All the jiggles. I was surprised how much the bladder heated the juice when I was over the Glens at the weekend.
Brilliant review. I was looking at this vest or the 15L vest for a couple of months. I was wondering whether my phone would fit in the front pocket. Your review convinced me that the 10L is probably sufficient. Love the way you mimic the sound of running off towards the end of the video. Made me laugh. Thank you.
Yes. Answer is too late for you but maybe helpful for someone in the future have same question. I have 10L version like on this review. My Samsung S22 Ultra fits in the front pocket.
Really happy with this pack I purchased it just last week. Similar, I haven't used the back bladder but bought a 500ml soft flask for the front. Just headed to Amazon here to buy a bivvy bag now that you remind me - should I ever break an ankle or something!
Great video! And funny! The salomon adv skin I purchased came with flasks by the way so the cost comparison was quite exaggerated. I qpuld love to see Decathlon make a commute bag like the OMM Ultra.
I bought this as my first pack in 2020 and I liked it. I do think I could have done with a smaller size. I went off the online sizing but felt I could have gone down a size as if the pack wasn’t stuffed full it wasn’t as secure as I’d like but at the time the shops weren’t open for me to try one on however I loved it for the price and I still have it as my back up. I did switch to the adv skin 12 like yourself as I’m training for my first ultra and it’s brilliant. But for the money and for your first one to give it a go agreed that this is a bargain!
@@StephenJReid I do have an unrelated question but it’s about GoPro and running so you might be the best person to ask! Is there a set up where I can have my GoPro 9 on the shortie stick for me to hold during a run or a race to get footage but then something I can have on my pack or on me that if I wanted to film without holding the GoPro - say going down a hill I could clip it to me somehow so I can go hands free. But do it quickly rather than having to faff with unscrewing it from the shortie and attaching it to a body harness and then putting it back on the stick again after … if that makes sense lol
@@muh.irsanhidayat325 Salomon is more comfortable once you start carrying more kit. If not carrying much, about equal.I always use the Salomon for long mountain runs as I'm carrying a lot.
Thanks Paul. Apparently Salomon are releasing new packs in February. Obviously at Salomon prices. The Robin watched me the entire time and followed me out of the forest afterwards 😂
@@PaulCoatesTrailRunning No someone else mentioned they were on the way, I didn’t know. I am currently reviewing something else running related though, but can’t post anything until the end of Feb
Same here thinking the same thing, I don’t think it used to come with a water bag before and now it does ? But that’s only a £12-13 diff. The increase is more than 100% in price frustrating !
Great review Stephen. I was pumped to order this one, but when I clicked your link I was sad to find out they don't deliver to the USA. Do you have a recommendation for another budget style hydration pack?
I’ve never had a running backpack before, and I would be using it to run to the gym with, and would need to take flat canvas shoes inside for weightlifting. Do you think this would be suitable for size? It’s hard to tell from the video. Thanks
No I wouldn't run a road race with this bag unless I was vlogging it and needed it to carry my GoPro and 360 camera in. There's loads of hydration stations on official races, so you shouldn't have to carry your own. Otherwise I'd probably wear a simple waist belt pouch for my phone, gels and keys. A pack like this warms you up, it's like wearing a light Gillet.

Warm back juice. 😂
Thanks for the review! Answered all my questions and some that I didn't even think to ask 👍
got the same rucksack. am still impressed how fast you inserted the 500ml soft flask.
nice presentation

I’ve got three and they’re as good or better than the more expensive packs like from Salomon.
Salomon is coming out with new packs 22/2/22 - im waiting for those before making a decision - thanks for reviewing!
Ooooo I did not know that. Interesting! No doubt will cost a lot more, but I’ll be interested to see what they’ve come up with.

Breaking your leg on a run is always negative craic
Is the 10L bag enough or should I get the 15L one?

I'm really impressed with how good that bag is for the price, I was expecting you to say £130 or something! I think I might get myself one...
Yeah it’s great for money!
very helpful! I've never run with a backpack before - this would be great for long runs
Yeah it was a game changer for me for long runs, means I can be completely self sufficient.
The vest is Not bad but they need to improve the design and materials. Hopefully this year’s model will be an improvement.
What don’t you like about the materials?
I agree, i've used these for a while and they're good for the cash !
Yup! Definitely
Fantastic video, really cool edition! I need to learn lots to use in my channel. I’ll buy this bag for my first ultra, thank youuu

Yeah it’s once you move to much longer distances that a bigger bag is more useful. Sizing is tricky, online never seem to match reality

Very nice explanation Stephen! I'm curious about the breathability, how is it compared to Salomon advance skin 12?
It's very similar, has a mesh back

Any opinions on silva strive vests backpacks?
Nice review, will definitely be picking one up. See you are wearing a Paul Messner t shirt, when your merchandise coming out??
Thanks Michael. Well spotted. I actually got designs made for t-shirts over two years ago and never did anything with it.
Make it happen!

Yes, basically everything is in Europe, where it is sold

This has a more wraparound design so looks more comfortable, also has more storage space on the front.
I miss mine sucks they don't make em anymore
Harrier Trail running make a great 10L pack for around £70 that I’ve been using recently
@StephenJReid looks nice although in my case I need a zipper down the middle with a stretchy fabric
