- Today most certainly did NOT go as planned. On our final day in Bali, we wanted to knock one final thing off our bucket list...swimming with the massive manta rays off Nusa Penida! But things definitely didn't go as we thought they would. Quite the opposite in fact. Even when things don't go your way, which happens quite frequently while traveling, there's always a silver lining. It's just sometimes really hard to find!

I’m sorry but I’m laughing hysterically because after all what else can you do! I’m sorry you didn’t get to swim with manta rays & had to take naps in a booth but you sure know how to tell a story! You both are such awesome people!
Omg I had the same Nusa Penida experience!!!! I was so in shock and it was so fast paced that I didn’t get a chance to vlog it but I tried to stay positive too 🙈🙈
Thanks for your honesty. Wonder if all their tours are like this or if there was a problem that day in particular? I feel better to know we aren't the only ones who have experienced a day of debacles while traveling but sorry it happened to you guys. It does make for funny stories after though!!

You visited Bali in the wet season ….. wrong time of the year! Did you see the sinking of the tourist boat off Nusa Penida last week because of the rough seas. That’s probably why they didn’t take you out there.
I can't believe they never told you why they didn't take you to the manta rays. And I don't buy that they didn't know why they couldn't take you.

Wow! What a day you had on that tour! It is amazing that no one in your group good get any info. from the guides as to why you couldn’t see the manta rays. It would have been so easy for them to tell you:Sorry, the manta rays seem to have moved out of the area, but we’ll give you some great snorkeling, anyway!” The fact that they only moved 2x and just a short distance……???? So weird! Maybe there were sharks in the area or some such hazardous conditions that they just didn’t want to share for fear you’d all just want your money back? The last footage on your video, with the turtle swimming away from you, was stunning! It is a gorgeous turtle! The pattern on its back is incredible!

I loved the sea turtle so much! I think that is a green sea turtle but there a a few different kinds in Bali. I, too, am sad the water was so polluted. The sea life deserves better. Thank you for sharing.

You two have lots of patience. I would have never gotten in brown smelly water and I would have been asked to taken back to the dock and find something else to do. I hope you got a refund. Definitely not sunshine and rainbows.

I’ve made dives in 2015, 2016 and 2017 to see manta rays at Manta point Nusa Penida and only saw manta’s on my very very last dive under hard conditions (rain, wind, surges and blurry (algae) water resulting in seasickness).
But all dive companies were very clear: no guaranties.

There probably aren’t any places to swim with Manta Rays. They just say that to get people to purchase their excursion. Otherwise, most people would not opt for what you actually did. Pretty underhanded!

ohhh noooo.. i totally understand how you feel.. my brother and sis-in-law had their wedding in bali..it was amazingly pretty but when we went to nusa penida for day trip it was such a disappointment.. we got cheated on the ride to these amazing blow hole caused devil eye or something and then we just chilled at the beach which the waves were insanely big and i lost my slipper there

i would be devestating as well maybe it was poop or pee if it says manarays then u should of been able to see them i would of asked for my money back on that trip some how
Maybe their whole point was for you (a.k.a. tourists) to see how much pollution people have created due to tourism and to make people aware of it but it seems a strange way to go about it. I'm sure there's a story behind the whole weird day but we may never know it. Thank God you both have a great sense of humour.
its rainy season, trash is on the move, washed in and out... with new clean up programs in place since 2020, you think this is bad, check out garbage island and you will get a better understanding.... better to travel to Bali in May to September....

Also, would you demand some money back if you feel you did not get the whole experience you signed up for or give them an ok review? That is what I would do. So people in the future know about what they get when booking this snorkeling tour. I am happy you made the best of a negative situation.

‘Snorkel’ site #3 also sounded like it was full of waste release from the fish farms. The coral in that location also looked dead; it was so bleached :(
maybe you are disappointed, if you haven't visited other parts of Indonesia, such as Raja Ampat, Komodo Island and many more. and don't forget that Indonesia has famously delicious food, there are fried rice, indomie, satay with peanut sauce.
If you couldn't see the manta ray, fine, but the rest of the tour was such a mess. I feel they need to be reported, or at least severely low rated on any survey. Where you swam could not have been healthy to swim in.
I hope you didnt pay for that experience.. I woulda been maaaaad!!
