Amazing camera work. Clearly the photographer can zoom in close enough to see them onstage (which this video does, at just the perfect moments), but also knows when to capture the whole wide video screen experience - which was pretty awesome on this concert. Curious to know some of the technical camera-geek details on this.
Glad you liked.... Due to battery limitations and wanting to record Roger Waters, my main concern was picking and choosing which songs to record. Used my Samsung S5 and a zoom Sony camera/video to record the action. Knowing which moments to zoom in and out is the result of being a lifelong fan of all the bands that performed unforgettable weekend. Best weekend/concert ever. The Woodstock of our generation.
mikel92009 Thanks for the explanation, mikel. I was there, but this video captures much more than we could see from the “cheap” seats. ;) Will have to check out your other Desert Trip videos.
Half a who plus an extra guitar player (brother Simon?). "My Generation" lacks energy. Not all of them died before they got old. They seem to warm up by "5:15" Pete's voice is shot on "I'm The One". One of all time favorite bands though.
It may have been “half a Who”, but when your “replacement” drummer is Zach Starkey, the son of Ringo Starr, and the godson of Keith Moon, you haven’t lost much there. Starkey doesn’t have the personality of Moon, but technically, he’s one of the best drummers I’ve seen in my 67 years. And regarding the energy comment, when Townsend wrote that song he was complaining about his parents’ generation. He and Daltry are now the ages of grandparents, or even great-grandparents, so they got no complaints from me. Like a few of the other respondents above, I was there that weekend, paid about $300 per concert for a grandstand seat, and got every penny’s worth!
@@duanefagg1631 I think the bands from our gen should offer long time fan discounts for their concerts! We've all spent a lot over the years seeing them. Zack Starkey is indeed an excellent drummer. I just have a heard time buying into a band with only half its original members. I love the Faces and they are talking about another reunion but there missing members too.
I was there!!! Frankly, I thought The Who played the best set of the weekend! All were great! But, The Who and their energy was undeniable! Excellent.
I was there, too and had the same reaction. Dylan was a little "vague" but everyone else was great and the Who really worked.
My impression as well. They had been on tour for awhile. The polish showed. Neil Young, alone and with Willie’s boys were other highlights for me.
@@peteyoung6912 - Yes! Neil was outstanding! I really liked Promise of the Real backing up Neil!
Me, too. From Japan.
