Great review I have a glock 30s and just ordered the bbr yesterday. This is the best comparison on subcompact 10rd .45acp handguns. Palmetto State Armory has the bbr for $350
Get you some Pearce grip para ordnance p10 pinky extension baseplates for your bbr, it will help with the grip issue. I also have Hogue grips for my p10 and to my knowledge they should fit your bbr the same too and they're a decent help with getting better grip.
I pondered both these guns going back and forth between them. I like both a lot,so I finally ordered the BBR, it's so unique. And I'm a 1911 45 cal fan and it's steel. That said, I still want the G 30. If only ammo wasn't so costly.
I have the BBR 3.0 as well and I purchased extra magazines with 13 round capacity from rock island armory in Nevada I had a gentleman on UA-cam called One dark Knight 3-D print a collar that goes on the extended magazine grips and I like it a lot. I will forward you the information for both of those later today But you can look him up One dark Knight, and you’ll see his video on that
i bought a BBR 3.10 about 2 weeks ago love it to death, only thing is mags are hard to find, just like my 9MM only Springfield sells my mags, and all the problems people talk about with the Rock Island is it needs to be taken apart and greased after that it will run flawless i'm 5'6" 115lbs BBR 3.10 is my main carry gun Springfield EMP 9MM for a backup, have a hi-point 40 i used to target shoot with when it was $12 a box, But ya i love the BBR 1/2 way through the first clip it felt fine in my hand after i switched back to tea cup i tried this new 2 handed style and mine shoot consistently 6-7 low so gotta fix that next range trip could be the way i sight a pistol though i dunno *( no dominate eye )*
I prefer the BBR and here is why: The BBR has a grip safety and the Glock well , nothing. I work for a living and I'm climbing through crawl spaces, attics, ride motor cycles, go boating, fish, jog, use a zero turn mower, and many other activities. I suppose, if I sat in a chair all day it wouldn't matter. I have had debris in these places rip my spare mags out of their pouches, and when I had lesser holsters, even lost a magazine once and spent hours to find it where I mowed. If had a Glock and something sharp pierced my gun holster and pushed the trigger, well, I think you understand. The BBR is nice and heavy and if it would move, I notice when a snap or velcro strap comes loose. I do see the advantage with the lighter guns, but do you really want a plastic gun? I remember back in the 90's that the police departments complained that guns were made of tool steel and very hard to melt them down. There was a big ordeal about making guns easy to melt down and they wanted to add a surcharge to each weapon that was made of high grade steel. I see now that that has been accomplished with plastic guns. Ok, back to the grip safety. What if for some reason, I become incapacitated in a car wreck, heart attack, and my gun is lost in that moment? My BBR will be much harder for a young child to fire. I know they usually turn them backward toward themselves to get enough strength to pull the trigger and that is way too sad. I really like the extra protection of the grip safety and the slide safety. I don't know if this is true for the 45 but for the 9mm BBR the magazines are the same as the TCM 22 RIA, so my 2 spare mags have 17 rounds, so I'm carrying 44 rounds with just two spare mags. You just can't beat the 1911 trigger and it makes it easy to keep a nice grouping in a rush. The trigger has one job, to release the hammer, it doesn't unlock, move, or do anything else, like on those other long pull pieces of plastic. The grip safety does those jobs to make the firearm ready to do it's one job.
Half of the videos you watch on UA-cam of the bbr they have malfunctions and problems I even seen a guy get hit in the head with a shell and made him bleed and I started noticing that on other videos shells flying at the shooter multiple failure to feeds it seems like half of the people who get these guns have lots of problems with them and you have to make sure you fix the sights because more than likely it's off and won't shoot your target Glocks are reliable and accurate right out of the box you can't go wrong with a Glock when it comes to saving your life that's why I choose Glock🎉😮😂
That BBR looks pretty cool. I'm not sure that I would seriously carry it over the 30S. But because of how small it is and that it holds 10 rounds of 45. It would be a good option if you can't find a 30s.
Ya and I mean trigger is much better on rock island but glock can be switched out easily. I think that overall it depends on what your comfortable with. That said the glock is a much more proven system for reliability. Now if it was a straight up glock 30 then there may be a different conversation as the thicker slide on glock 30 standard is very thick
Glocks dont run 45acp all that well. More importantly, the 1911 duel safety mechanism gives me the peace of mind i need when carrying. The suggested recoil spring replacement applies to most 1911/2011s, but that’s less of a rule, more of a broad guideline. I run my 2011s well into 2k round count before replacing the spring. And lastly, the 3.10 ergonomics are very hard to beat (especially if you get a grip that suit you). PS: please dont say 9mm is the same as 45acp in terms of ballistics…..i worked in an ER, and i can assure you 45acp is more violent.
Glock 45’s do well when fed good ammunition. They like it warm. Yes, some of that weak smoky factory ammo won’t cycle a Glock 30. Have almost 8,000 rounds through a second generation 30. I load all my own ammo.
@@kentdurham2716 This is the first I've heard of FTF problems with the G30 concerning ammo. I have a BBR on order after much deliberation. But the Glock 30 is almost certainly the next in line.
G30s is an awesome EDC. Yes, a 1911 will always win in the trigger department. The loaded weight of the Glock 30s is just a little more than the empty weight of the Rock Island.
Your wife carries a 45? Damn. She must be a badass. Thats a hefty caliber for a female to carry especially in a smaller gun like that. My mom has a 22 magnum and my sort of girlfriend has a ruger lcp 2 in 22lr
When we went down the road to pick out a gun she preferred the recoil impulse of the 45 pushing back rather than the 9 mm . But she went with 30s which I thought was weird because it is thicker and she has very small hands. But it worked out and she liked it.
Curious enough my wife also prefers the 45 to the nine and also my daughter too . They also mentioned the recoil impulse as being a lot more pleasant and both shoot the .45 the best .
My honest opinion the 30s is better for ccw purposes by all means. Lighter and has more pedigree for having a reliable function. The 30s. Is a bit different than the new g30 gen 5. The 30 s uses the thinner slide from the 36 single stack. Glock never made a 30s in Gen 4 for some reason. And I really hope the buckle down and make one for Gen 5. The BBR is a cool gun for sure and has a great trigger. I think both would work well for carry it really is just preferences
I do know that Pearce grip has an extend grip for the para ordnance warthog which is what the BBR is based on people use that with success. I also know that the double stack rock island 45 acp mags are interchangeable. As well as the double stack paras. But I’m not sure of a sleeve that would fill the grip gap
bbr looks cool, but id rather it be the para ordnance warthog as i trust the manufacturer more , but since they are defunct what can you do. Glock 30 is lighter by far and i am sure is easier to carry for that reason.
@Conklikov Thanks for your question. When I was 15, I shot my first 357 S&W. The two that taught me told me a pinky is for indexing and is used to keep the gun from falling out due to snap. I have been shooting all guns with my finger under the grip. My 44 Blackhawk. My 44 Magnum double barrel Derringer. My Wichita Arms 7mm08 single shot bolt action Pistol. My Beretta 92 10mm. My H&K P10mm. And a hundred more. It was a great lesson they taught me. I was born in the country with a gun in my hand. I am always bewildered when I see someone concerned about using a pinky to grip. I finally had to say something. Thanks for listening.
@@thethiefonthecross9092 keep the BBR oiled/lubed .. it won't either. I know the Glock is torture proof, but the BBR is easier to shoot, better trigger and if I'm not mistaken there's an extension to take the BBR to 13 RDS. I'm a 1911/2011 fan so I'm biased.

Ya damn ammo cost getting bad again. Unless you want 9 mm. But even that doesn’t s getting a bit pricy
Rock Island Armory BBR 3.10 for the win! Can’t go wrong with a compact 1911. That Glock 30s looks like a full size gun next to that RIA BBR 3.10.
Yes for sure, the BBR is a bit thicker tho in terms of width of grip but slide is so thin
I have carried a Colt 1991 compact for many years. From the looks of the BBR in the video this one doesn't look much smaller, but interesting.
Ya it’s going to be similar in size only thing about BBR is it is fat, I really want to get a defender or a officer sized 1911 for slimmer carry gun.
