For me, this is a more or less PERFECT demo, tutorial, advert. It showed what I regarded as POTENTIALLY the least interesting of Cableguys effects to be a thoroughly capable, flexible and fascinating processor. I'm off to buy the complete collection. Many thanks for this. I enjoyed and learned from every second.
I already thought this plug-in was the s***, but little did I know I was only using 1/30th of it. Awesome video and groundbreaking plugin. Thanks guys. 👏💥💥
Like a lot of people, I've had this plug in for a minute, and wasn't even close to tapping into what it could do. And it's not overly complicated. But while experimenting (in Logic Pro X), I automated some of the parameters, and then bounced the section, and then automated everything again. It totally created a whole new Loop that cannot be duplicated and is "mine."

Absolutely love this plugin. Creative and sound design possibilities that go way beyond what you might expect (or at least what I expected) from the name. I put it on a vocal loop and drum loop last night, added some delay and reverb and was literally lost for hours. Great stuff, I can see this getting a lot of use
@@blickfrog5161 You could do it for all the notes in the 808 (this changes the whole key of your song, and will make it sound darker/brighter - the 808 might even sound too low or high now), or just the ones that sound off. A perfect fifth is the purest musical interval there is (besides an octave), so most of the time you should be able to add the 1.5x mode without changing the 808 line much, or at all.
Yes, HalfTime is for VST, AU and AAX. If it's not showing up for you, please contact our tech support on contact@cableguys.com and they will help you get it working 👍
Well, I would love this plugin if it didn't take the track completely over. I guess this is supposed to be used toward the ends of tracks only..? It fades in at the locale I place this in the track, but the (what I had assumed to be of commensurate functionality to the "fade in" arm) fade-out has no effect, and once this is engaged in your track, it isn't going anywhere unless you remove this plugin. This would be a really useful plug for me, if it had implementation for fading the effect back out. I'm not sure what this dev mean by "fade out" re the arm on the right. It doesn't mean what any person would reasonably expect. I'll probably never use it, then.
You can use HalfTime anywhere in the song, not just at the end. If it is "taking over" your song, perhaps you have added it on the master bus? You can do that as a special effect, but generally it would be placed only on the tracks where it is desired, eg, your melody track. See the section at 07:45 for how to use Fade In/Out - the fades happen when you turn the plugin on/off using the big Power button. So you need to set the Fade handles, then automate the Power button.
so does this compensate for the pitch correction needed when slowing something down or do you still have to do that manually? if so feels like i just wasted my money
HalfTime is not a real-time pitch shifter, so the original timing is not preserved. As explained in the video, halving a signal's speed will double its length. This is a desired effect used in many hip-hop/trap/pop productions, used on drums, vocals, melodies, etc 👍
Great plugin! I have been doing much of what it's capable using just Reaper but with 10 times the time and inconsistent results. This is one of these plugins that inspires inspiration and frees up time to create rather than to work around. For the price it's a definite must. Oh, it works in real time so it's an amazing guitar or vocal fx as well.
Please email us with an example on contact@cableguys.com and we'll check it out. But most likely it's that the melody you are using already has some build-up of frequencies that becomes more obvious when shifted down 1 octave by HalfTime. You can try hitting the "headphones" icon in the Band section, then move the left side of the green slider up until it sounds good to you. This will HalfTime only the upper frequencies.
Please try setting the looping mode (tail) in FL Studio's rendering options to 'Leave remainder'. If that doesn't fix it, please email us at contact@cableguys.com with details 👍
@@Cableguys thank you for your reply. I was able to rectify the issue by making sure " enable maximum polyphony" was selected in the render window in FL20
Essentially, yes. HalfTime chops your incoming audio into chunks, then slows down the first half of each chunk, and throws the other half away, so you can get new rhythmic variations too. The pitch is also lowered, giving an atmospheric effect. You can try it for free at cableguys.com 👍
HalfTime reads the input at a length determined by the Loop value, the maximum being 8 Bars. Or you could always try the shortest Loop Length (1/16) with a bit of Smooth applied, which can preserve timing in many cases, depending on the signal. But if you only want to repitch the audio for functional reasons, not as a creative effect, it's probably best to use your DAW's audio "repitch" algorithm 👍
For a sidechain pumping/ducking effect, you should use our VolumeShaper or Nicky Romero Kickstart plugins 👍 HalfTime is designed for half-speed/slow-down effects, not sidechaining.
I am having a hard time to apply automation on my Logic Pro X. Tooo many parameter options and I do not know what to do. Could you make a automation video for Logic Pro X users?
Hi! Automating HalfTime works like automating any other plugin. In Logic, just set the automation mode to Write, Touch or Latch mode, hit record, and turn the knobs! Then switch to Read mode to play the automation back. You can also then edit the automation directly on the timeline.
You should also (in automation mode) be able to click on a parameter in the plugin then click in the track lane to highlight that parameters automation line
@@richardwoods9871 Thanks for the tips. Actually I did it. I did a certain tweak on my halftime then I tried to apply it as automation on my track by drawing a curve to trigger the automation. But halftime effect happened on that track not on automation curve. Maybe I am doing something wrong with it. I will give more try.

Great comprehensive tutorial !
Please help! I always use the 1.5x setting on melodies but they always make the 808 sound out of pitch! How can I fix this?
1.5x mode shifts the pitch by a perfect fifth interval, so you would need to transpose your 808 by -5 or +7 semitones to make it match the melody.
@@Cableguys thank you for the reply. Is that for all the notes in the 808? Some of them sound in tune, just a couple sound off.
@@blickfrog5161 You could do it for all the notes in the 808 (this changes the whole key of your song, and will make it sound darker/brighter - the 808 might even sound too low or high now), or just the ones that sound off.
