Mr. Mills, I am not a horse person at all. Love watching and following channels that save and rescue these beauties and give them back their lives. Saw your intro video and just have to ask if throwing the brakes on a horse going full bore isn't rather hard on them and their joints?? Just because you can, does it make sense to? I'm just curious which is more important, the competition (??) or the health and well being of the horse?? If you reply great, if not that's OK to. Take care of these GOD given beauties.

I greatly appreciate and respect your well worded question as a “ non “ horse person. I honestly keep my horses health number one to competition. Like anything in life there’s definitely risks and yes, unfortunately there are injuries at times. Horses And people for that matter get injured doing some of the dumbest non strenuous things. I hear the this question often and I can tell you we could go down the rabbit hole of what’s fair and not til we are blue. The sliding plates on the backs of theses horses hooves make a big difference. Some of our horses enjoy what they do and some don’t. In my program I try to keep ones that do and find other avenues for the ones that don’t. Thank you for taking the time to write. I have several 20+ year old horses in my barn and recently had one make it to 30!! Couldn’t we question just about everything in this life? What we should and shouldn’t because we can? Nobody has that answer

@@mattmillsreining1 Matt, Thank you for responding. These horses are beautiful and I don't doubt you care for them. It's like the people that do the "high stepping" thing. People are all up in arms about this and yet they supposedly care about their animals until they can't do that crap anymore. No, I'm not putting what you do in that terrible abuse of a horse. I hope you keep those beauties safe and healthy for a long, long time. Once again, thank you. Ron

great vid.....ill tell you sense i rode with bruce kirby and earl rodgers of north carolina.... and can says that one of 1st great reiners i rode was zans diamond dude i was hooked. now requardless of if its gonna be my heel or head horse and never show in reining, well hes going thru the steps. cause to me it just how do i say it, interlocks all your training and minds....and everything i mean everything you ever ask any horse to do is covered. even if only a trail horse....he will roll....stop....use hind quarters as well as front....give at pressure....thats why i do it.....oh yea and money aint bad either...least till feed bill hits

I love the horses. All beautiful!! But, the two words that come to my mind every time I see them: peanut rollers. I see the bits.. the spurs.. unnaturally low head carriage, and it breaks my heart. But, the animals are primo.

You’re an awesome trainer Matt! Just don’t get fluffy like some others do with the popularity. “Keep it Real” - Blessings!
