Every New Year we watch the concert from Vienna, they always have 3 Encores, a surprise piece, the Beautiful Blue Danube, and the Radetsky March. Fun fact: all the vintage instruments are owned by the orchestra, not the musicians. They are carefully selected to match each other and the performance space for an optimal sound.

Wow. Brings back memories. In the early Sixties, I was forced to take piano lessons and had to learn a couple of those tunes. Turned me off classical music for a while. I picked up on the electric guitar in 1967 and destroyed any memories I had of Strauss. (I still have that same electric guitar today!!) Slowly I was drawn back to the keyboard and started enjoying Beethoven. But I still prefer the guitar. Thanks for the memories!!

No. 7 is a theme from the overture to the operetta "Die Fledermaus" ("The Bat"); never heard of "You and You" before. No. 5 "Radetzky March" wasn't composed by Johann Strauss II, but by his father Johann Strauss I.

So from now on, according to your "technical" logic, all compositions by Johann Sebastian, Carl Philipp Emanuel, Johann Christian, Wilhelm Friedemann and Johann Christoph Friedrich are to be called "a Bach piece (unless otherwise specified)". There's actually a few composers with the name of Strauss. It's Johann Strauss II that you're referring to. He wrote hundreds of pieces so it's only natural nobody would recall the names of most of them.
Blue Danube is one of my favourites so I know that name, as would fans of the movie 2001.

There are only two of those that I can specifically recall having heard, and I knew the names of both of them. Blue Danube because that is used as docking music in every sci-fi everything ever, and Radetzky March because every concert band ever does that one at some point.

Nice job Vinheteiro. You really know a lot of songs by heart without needing music (except for one). If I spoke Portuguese, I would love to visit Brazil, especially the southern part of the country like Porto Alegre, Gramado and Florianopolis. I would even consider buying property there.
