    A dude shows up to help his brother, runs to the back, changes costume, and comes out dressed as a bird to help the OTHER team win. And everyone plays it straight and nobody even mentions it's the same guy.

      I watched this on PPV live. Not sure where this video is pulled from, but DDP actually said "everybody please shut the fuck up" on a hot mic. One of the standout moments of this ppv when I was 14.

    "Sting And Lex Luger Vs The Steiner Brothers" was PWI's Match of the year in 1991. Back in the day; Babyfaces Vs babyfaces was ultra rare to see. Which was pretty wild at the time.

    in 91 we were blessed with JR and Dusty on commentary, 5 years later he had to endure Hennan, Bischoff, and Steve McMichaels , good thing PPVs had Tony

      Both Hennan and Tony would argue for majority of their time working together at which was it difficult to tell how much of it was kayfabe and how much of it was shoot, at the same time Mango and Hennan worked well together. Things would go down hill in the final 2 to 3 years of the company with Scott Hudson and Mark Madden.

      @@SteeleZack madden was a great example of how important announcing really is. Hard to quantify how much he hurt an already bad product. Todays wwe broadcast are nearly unwatchable due to the announcers.
      I love Tony. I love heenan. But they never gelled and had bad chemistry.

    I've been binge watching these Classic PPV Reviews and i am noticing Zane started improving more and more on the play by play abridged telling of the matches and the backstage stories which is great I'm all for improvement... I also enjoy when he mentions signs from the crowd or something weird a wrestler or a fan yelled out.

      @@keithharper1470 but it's not remotely a powerpomb, you go behind someone when stunned rather than in front of them, your character then places his hands under his opponents feet instead of around their waist and then throws them into the air instead of over his shoulders. At every stage its not a powerbomb. Checked an faq and its just called caber toss.
      Edit: unless you meant his regular jacknife... Which was just his finisher as Diesel.
      Edit 2: unless we are talking across purposes and you are talking about WWF Raw for the Xbox and not the 16bit one?

      Curse of the Era... put him solo 2-3 years sooner, while the belt was 'tethered' to Flair and he could have probably got a token run... Maintain/accelerate his Push from mid-card to upper-card guy abutting the Hogan acquisition and he could have been a Transitional Champion there...

    14:33 Huh. So a "taped fist match" is a real thing. One of the guys at the International Wrestling Cartel recently invoked it for a 4 person defense of his belt. He, of course, came pre-taped, with everyone else having to do it onsight. He won, then gleefully unwrapped his tape to show the steel chain (which, since he's a comedy heel, was a small jeweler's chain) he had beneath it.

      Poor Taylor had both Money Inc hand-me-downs, Rotunda was doing this gimmick but then jumped to WWF to become IRS, so they put Taylor in his spot. A year later Taylor became the Taylor Made Man basically doing a Ted DiBiase character with an outfit that looked like a cheap version of DiBiase's.

    The imperial Japanese flag has yet to be retired. Yes, it has since been retired as the NATIONAL flag of Japan, it is still used for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (Navy). It is the current Naval Ensign of Japan. Vexillologist here...

    Tracy went flying over the top rope because Garvin pulled it down... I mean, he didn't really, but he dropped like he was. I think he was just too far to the side to actually move it.

    Thank you for showing and covering the Thunderdoom cage match (Ron Simmons Vs Butch Reed), on the old Superbrawl 1 rental VHS tapes this match was blatantly cut out as i recall. As were a few of the matches seen here and the Missy Hyatt getting trolled by Stan Hansen backstage in the interviews.

    When big josh sheepishly waves at the camera it reminds me of mania 1 when he almost walks in front of the camera while sir alfred is talking, makes eye contact with the camera and kinda changes mid step. Matt Borne is an Oregon treasure.

      I met him in person on two occasions: once in 1992 at a WCW house show and the other in 1995 at a AWF show. He was a very nice down to Earth person. I always thought he was a great talented wrestler. I was very saddened about his passing a few years back...

    Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton went on to make a great team together. Always overlooked or underrated when people make lists of great tag teams.

      Its interesting they were a team in the SECOND Super Brawl defending the World tag belts against the Steiners and Luger and Sting wrestled each other in the main event for the World belt, completely reversed from this Super Brawl...

    My first wrestling show as a child. Arn Anderson vs Bobby Eaton still a classic and seeing sting was the reason why I continued to watch wrestling.

    Steiners vs Sting/Lex was a banger. A lot of high impact moves and the crowd was super into it. I've been making the effort in watching these PPVs with adult eyes and this one was a great WCW PPV.

      Badstreet/Fantasia helped the Freebirds win...
      Brad had so many masked gimmicks and none of them were (to my knowledge) Kayfabe affiliated
      (but if i'm not mistaken this is at least the 2nd, or first of at least two, depending on Timing; that saw WCW almost sued for copyright, the other being Arachi-man, a Purple and Yellow Spider-man knock off)

    I remember really loving this show as a kid (crappy Eli Gante match and all) and watched it several times on tape.the Steiner/sting Luger match and main event were some of the best stuff in American wrestling at the time.

      The uploader got it wrong, Jim Ross clearly states in the commentry "The loser must leave the ring in a stretcher" not "The person loses by leaving the ring in a stretcher"
      Which means there has to be at least a pinfall or submission before the stretcher comes into it, dumb idea for a match ending but it was done correctly

    I could imagine if the technology today was around in 1991 Alexandra York would've been their excuse to make sure that through the computer, the layout, spots and structure of the matches got through correctly.

    If you think about it Terry Taylor was a trailblazing pioneer. He was using advanced metrics analysis as a gimmick years before professional sports teams used it themselves to evaluate talent on their teams.
