Dan, boy I have missed you. For some reason I could not find your vedoes. I became a subscriber a few minutes ago so I can keep in touch with you. You're my favorite trucker. God you and family.
i use to have a king pin lock too. had to fork out my own money for it, but it was worth it, just a pain to put it on. kept hearing, "oh your trailer is going to get ripped off if you drop it and go somewhere." kept hearing about high end loads being hijacked, never seen that either. could be some driver talking about what he was hauling.
For what it's worth, I've been watching Dan for a couple of years now. No-nonsense flat truck driver. Really enjoy his no-drama on-the-road perspective.
Wow! I am not a truck driver but it has always fascinated me as a profession. I absolutely LOVE the loading videos and it's so cool to see the load going on the new trailer! Thanks for sharing Dan.
Yesterday, I went to the store to buy a large bag of dog food for my dog, Spike. I was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? I told her I didn't have a dog, and I was starting the dog food diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time. I lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. But, I told her that it was a perfect diet, and all I did was load my pockets with kibble and simply ate one or two every time I felt hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.) Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I said, "No. I stopped to pee on a fire hydrant and a car hit me!"
God love you Dan. You are my favorite on UA-cam. I subscribe to a LOT of channels (don't own TV). Really nice music here, at 0:20. I would title this music, 'Gestures of Perpetual Ennui'. Your mom must of been one fine music teacher (as you told us previously). . Your heart is so good. Please let me know if you are ever up here........... get you a coffee or bring you lunch/dinner. . Wishing you, Theresa, and your followers well. . I had a hose go, on my 21 year old Saab. Once the confidence is gone, its never the same. Perfect for 14, 15 years. Power steering done four times, water pump twice, hoses............. but trusted local mechanic is gold. Shell in Tacoma, on Stevens. Great people. Frank, Dave, Gertrude, Rebecca, Mac.
I passed you on the interstate on Wednesday after you left the rest area. I yelled at you on the radio but you must’ve not heard me. Your trailer looked sharp going down the road.
Hey Dan a good way to keep ur kingpin lock clean is use old bags from Walmart put the bag on and Kingpin lock on the outside the bag. Everyone knows how greasy them kingpins can get
I dread using mine when I had one ... my dumb ass backed into it and it crimped itself to the kingpin lol I just leave the trailer with no lock now cause that was no fun at all cutting that thing off
Hello Dan to bad I didn’t know you were in Detroit I live just outside Detroit in Dearborn,mi it would been nice to finally meet you sir. I’m long time follower of all your videos. owner operator for 5 years. Thanks to you. I learn so much from you. Please stay safe.
Dog Food Jokes? Two good ol' boys were standing in line at the supermarket checkout. One complained to the other about the high cost of dog food. His companion advised, "You should feed your dog turnip greens ... that's what I feed my dog ... lots cheaper". Fellow buying dogfood said, "But that's a crazy idea, my dog wouldn't eat turnip greens". His friend replied, "Neither would mine, for a month."
Good day eh from up nort If the lil gen set seal is popping out and not physically failing. Try steaking in place. That is simply setting a cold chisel on the outer perimeter of seal and housing. Give it a lil smack in a about 4 to 6 places to raise a lil wedge of material to lock in place. Should keep it from popping out again.
Running skate deck and step deck for 15 years and I use my step deck 90% of the time for the fact it’s way easier to strap and you can still use bridges/ramps for hauling long beams or pipe
Older country (historically-speaking). Tighter tolerances on the roads=shorter trailers. A goal (dream) is to take the Mrs to Europe. See England, France, Germany.
I knew that was you I seen at the rest area right before the scale on 69... then I was over there in dexter as well but I did not see ya I just stopped to get a drink and see if truck wash right there was busy or not.... safe travels sir
Also, when they first became common they were also called a "Pan". They used to be popular as pull-behind units hooked to large bulldozers with a drawbar, but the Le Tourneau company figured bulldozers should best be used for dozing and invented the "Tounapull" which made huge changes in the earthmoving industry.

I use to haul bags of cement from Pryor Okla. to Tx. 5 loads a week.I doubled strapped the first and last pallets. Our Co. flat beds were 43ft. Stay safe Dan
Dan next time you don't have to take that plate off for the seal, drill a couple of holes in the seal go in there with an ice pick pop the old seal out and take a big socket and tap the new one in did it hundreds of times. Sometimes the crank will have a groove in it and the seal will start to leak after a month or two if that's the case get some Lucas stop leak and put in it and live with it. 48 foot trailer is a nice trailer plenty long for a flatbed you don't need a 53 more weight harder to get around. You bought the perfect trailer side kits are nicer than a Conestoga and they are great for hauling coils, you don't do many coils.
Hi Dan. Looking smart and earning its keep already 🙂 You getting better mpg with the aluminium trailer? Keep safe buddy until the next time cheers Stevie 😎🇬🇧
Dan,I started rolling my straps up with the hook inside, really helps in the wind, just the extra weight I suppose,I started a long time ago putting some lubercant on the roller part of the winch where it contacts the winch, lot easier to tighten up,just a tad of grease does it.
Dan Glad to see that you are back in action and staying safe. Very nice trailer and you have it very well set up but I was wondering if you plan on putting your scale system on the new trailer as it does not appear that the new trailer has an air scale system from your videos?
Hi Dan. Never used a king pin lock. When you do and leave the trailer, do you flag the front in some way, sayin, Stop, locked! to avoid , and, remind yourself?
The load is long enough... a sleeper would just add more (my opinion). But yes, I get it... get a hotel room or... lay down over two seats and suck it up.
Wow that was a lot of info at the end of the vid. Thanks for taking the time to explain....one question tho, How many coffee’s did you have that day? 😂
Hey Dan greetings from LA. I'm a huge fan; all your videos are awesome. Thanks for all the footage. I'm wondering if your home is in Tucson why don't you come out to the West Coast more often? Is it because Mercer is based out of Louisville or is there something about the Pacific states that you try to avoid? Keep posting videos and always stay safe.
Dan I am new to your site love your videos. I notice that sometimes you have to work very hard on tamping and untarping. How much do you get paid for that.
Nice to watch a professional at work ,Dan you are the real deal 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸

I was thinking of your shut offs on the Generator cooling. If you use electric shut offs @ 110v or 12v you can control them with a switch.
