Great sound from that Kemper Profiling Amp! If you played an old 50 buck guitar through that amp it would sound good. Lovely guitars very well played, I don't know who you are man but you are one hell of a player. I Love this style of playing, for me it blows shredding out of the water. It's great to hear a real guitarist, thanks man.
What I wouldn't give to be able to go and sit down in a guitar shop and make sounds like that :) Just bought an '04 Love Rock, but love the sound of that 57 Les Paul. Fantastic :)
That Gibson Special has Johnny Thunders ghost in it. The Tokai is great too. Now I'm wishing I got a Tokai Special or GT with p90's instead of the LS142. Oh well, that will be next.
Oh S! That Lespaul grawls like a hord of angry tigers !!! Why Gibson did not stick to that ?? The Toaki is awesome too. Best guitars for the price imho.
@Errol Flynn's Swashbuckling Revenge Commies???? Tokai is not Chinese idiot. As a Japanese American I would like to tell you to fuck off. And calling someone who likes a Chinese guitar a commie is like calling a random American a racist. The attributes of a country's gov't are not the attributes of all the people.

The Gibson sounds way better in my opinion there's something magical about the Gibson the other guitar sounds good but not as good as the original 57 Gibson Les Paul special. Night and day difference to me actually. That doesn't mean the other guitar doesn't sound superb it does but I would be reaching for the 57 Gibson. Surely you must have known the difference was the 57. Gibson was magical also
what a freakin' glorious sound from that Gibson!! One of the best if not the best I've heard on YT ever and I've been storming around for ages here... If you could share the amp or whatever you are playing it through, that would be great! Also, I had Haussel p90's in one of my Frank Hartung Junico guitars and they were amazing, you can't go wrong with them... Amazing vid and playing!
Thanks man, but I can not share any amp settings as ........ I just did not make any notes about the sound and settings I used. It´s recorded with my Kemper, and I think it´s been one of my own made such called Bloody Rocka rigs. Bloody Rocka is my 2008 built from scratch Marshall style amp, also to see and listen in my videos here from mid 2008 date up to about 2012 mid of the year. That´s the story to that sound, just some small room added with my yamaha mixing desk. :-)
In 50 jahre wird die Tokai so gut wie die Gibson sein! Aber der unterschied ist nicht so merktbar, die Tokai klingt mehr "modern" für mich. Zwei sehr gute guitarren und ein guter spieler. Good job!
That´s a LSS XX model, the XX is a number, that varies from year to year, as this number is also a price number, that is a typical Tokai thing with their naming the models. So for example .... a LSS 80 (build around 2010..... usually is the same model as a LSS 93 or larger number ........ so not that easy to name that model!

Hi, i am so so impressed by your knowledge about guitars and pickups .....and playing too....I have a slightly used Tokai ls 160s GOLDTOP 56 reissue...Could' you give me a "starting point " setting for both pickups , from the bottom of the strings and the polepieces of each pickup ? For bass and trebble side of each one ( strings depressed at last fret !) in ../64 inch please ? It would be so so gentle and helpful :) !!!! Best regards from France

My God what a tone!
Beautiful sound quality and camera !
Right? What's not to love?!
Nice playing too!
Your tone is something else Acys!
I actually much preferred the 57 Les Paul in sound.
That Gibson Special has Johnny Thunders ghost in it. The Tokai is great too. Now I'm wishing I got a Tokai Special or GT with p90's instead of the LS142. Oh well, that will be next.
the 57 has the mountain sound... I love it....
you are the man who gets it out of this piece of wood.... great playing
Yeah! You rocked those guitar like a boss, man.
The Gibson is awesome but neck pickup in Tokai sounds almost even better maybe?
Oh S! That Lespaul grawls like a hord of angry tigers !!! Why Gibson did not stick to that ?? The Toaki is awesome too. Best guitars for the price imho.
Awesome.and the hand gestures are fanominal lol good job
I can't believe it's a kemper. Really good sound. Viva p90's.
Oh my God.... What tone ... Only just discovered you but man this stuff is great. Subscribed in a heart beat
Man o man, sounds like an angry Strat. Both fantastic.
I think i prefer the tonal range of the Tokia !

Ooooooh! Tokais.
Decisions, decisions...... I can't afford either of them.
Wonder what the difference in market price is between these two. Wonder how many Tokais you could buy for the one 57 original.?
What happened to the binding on the fingerboard ?, awesome tone by the way !!, Peace.
Did not have a binding.
I noticed it too. Fretboard should have binding, right?
Its not right then because all these models had binding, its either a fake, the wrong neck or the bindings been removed.
@@Edward1312 yup, neck binding must have been removed at some point.
love your playing
Great as always! Do you remember which exact profile of the Bloody Rocka rigs you used?
I have a Tokai Love Rock (HLS245SQ) and I absolutely love it.
However, that Gibson sounds like honey as well.

Does anyone know which kind of lacquer that Tokai guitars are finished with? Looking at a double cut Love Rock Junior
The lower end Japanese models use poly, and the higher end ones nitro. They don't make a double cut Junior, I'm afraid.
They do.
I got a double cut Tokai for sale. Made in Japan, 1991, yellow.
Is your Tokai still up for slale?
Jeroen Bos yes, you can contact me via. mw110@hotmail.de
Are the pickups still original in the '57 at least? I understand it needed the rewire but I'm just wondering
yes, that been the old pickups
Nice video! I must admit I have never seen a vintage LP Special without binding on the neck. Is this stock?
