Nizzahon Magic for me only teeg, and shard just have a planeswalker deck with tons of evasion, but no creatures. Other than that you can play commander, you just need tamiyo field researcher, doubling season, and the chain veil. you just play tamyio draw 3 omniscience8 then have ugin in your hand -10 draw 7 cards get other tamyio,8 play old tamyio destroy new tamyio ultimate play nicol bolas blow up ugin cast ugin -10 draw 7 gain 7 hope to get a teferi cast teferi untap chain veil activate chain veil activate nicol bolas to destroy itself cast nicol bolas destroy ugin cast ugin -10 draw 7 play gain seven, then plus 1 teferi if you do not have enough artifacts also get tezzeret to untap 2 artifacts like a mana crypt and a sol ring infinetly destroy nicol bolas ultimate nicol bolas for game, fairly consistent If you are playing for fun with friends, if not just play arcum dagson, thhat man does not care...
One time I played a game where the competitive player at the table played rhystic study and I was playing group hug so I convinced the entire table to never pay for rhystic study. He ended up drawing about 40 cards off of it
+TheMagicManSam Do I dare to tell you I have a sliver deck with winter orb and a few cards listed here*? And would I be safe if I tell you that I'm also considering putting in another two cards from this video?
+Pipetruls do people actually play commander with you twice with the same deck or do they look at your Commander shake hands then admit defeat after your pod is put together once they see your Commander?
The people I play with actually like to play with me, even tho I got a "nasty, unfun deck". Mainly because my deck is crafted to deal with almost any threat, except aggro. I guess seeing someone sneak around death at instant speed is awesome, even if it is your opponent.
Smiff ask your buddy if he's got a problem with someone casting Armageddon and Planar Cleansing in the same turn with Avacyn out. Or better yet, myojin of life's web to flash in ulamog, kozilek, akroma, iona, vorinclex, elesh norn (and wild pair trigger fetching Avacyn). please. Sisay is the memes.
+Phyrexian Newborn I don't disagree. But it probably won't because it only effects mono colored decks badly. in duel edh yeah definitely ban her. But in vs. where 4 players will most likely not be all playing the same color let alone mono color, she is just a hassle.
If people are playing mono colour, then yes it will only affect one person, but that one player loses instantly. If people are playing two or three colour, there will be overlap. In neither scenario is it fair.
Not a card per say, but one of the most annoying things in Commander is when you are the only one at the table packing significant amounts of board control. Annoying cards are a problem when you are constantly relying on yourself to remove them.
+Thomas Bodifee Except when they sift through planeswalker abilities, activated abilities of artifacts/creatures. But those players would be casting spells on that of that so I guess you're still right. Just in some cases it means turns are "not quite as long as they previously would have been"
+Kevin Weaver but it also tends to stop some infinite and near infinite loops (expecially the recast loops) personally not a fan, but rule of law/laboratory has its uses in a game .... just depends on the player and the meta, if its a good thing or a annoying one.
The last time I watched somebody not pay the one with Rhystic Study, it lead to Cyc Rift Overload + Armageddon + Boros Charm. That was definitely a fun game of Magic.
yeah Iona pisses me off to be glad Iona is legal and painters servant is banned imagine this play you cast Kaalia of the vast equip lightning greaves then you cast painters servant and pick a color then you attack with Kaalia and put Iona into play choosing the color you just turned everything
***** I agree that she's either totally underwhelming or completely fun-killing. If I was playing a mono colored deck and I knew my opponent was playing Iona at all - I probably just wouldn't play against them haha (I know you can just play colorless removal such as Perilous Vault and Oblivion Stone - still not fun though). Playing unfun decks in a casual setting is a good way to make your friends never want to play with you again - I learned this the hard way back in the day playing Pox haha *Note - I think Iona is totally cool in competitive formats though.
VBC Trinity Games That’s the thing about a play that card too. And then I play way worse cards and even he even imagined like defense of the heart. Tooth and nail. My guy get with my old 12/12 infect, then my creature that gives all my characters horsemanship!
+Jonas Candy We also need Want cards ever, luck cards ever, fuck you cards ever, fuck me cards ever and also ever cards ever! all them lists! make it happen Wedge!
Honestly I'm new to the format and videos like these help me NOT lose the new friends I just made at my LGS - so thank you, I appreciate it. There were cards in here where I went "Oh wow I could really do good with that" as you basically said "This is so annoying and you'll probably lose friends"... thanks
+TWilko234 Thanks, that was the card I was thinking off, but coulnd't remember the name. Had a friend that used to drop her with Kaalia... good thing he fucked up his deck by removing big ass demons and angels and replacing them with massive removals XD
+TWilko234 Just play blue and copy that Iona and laugh at the mono white guy playing Iona who can't do anything now because he said "white" when casting Iona to protect it from most common exile/removal effects at the current table.
I mean i understand that monocolored decks are a thing, however at the point of the game that I've ever put Iona in the color i'm naming was going to win the next turn anyway. Most of the time when a specific player is whining at me because they got the shaft I kill it and watch the game end to the "Elves/Wizards/Wanderer" player, literally at the next available priority swap.
+Alien Platypus probably because most of them aren't the cards as much as the combos. Also these rage cards are clearly from the perspective of a control commander.
Atmapalazzo You said... from perspective of a control player. He hated on Rhistic study, a control player magnet. He hated on Rule of Law, a pillowfort card. Wedge is in fact a control/pillowfort player, but he wasn't singing their praises.
+Joseph Lucero You are not alone, in my 12 edh decks, I play all those or similar cards, except 3 of this list. Sol ring, Rustic study and Vorinclex for me are staples in EDH.
I'd also include some of those "oops I win" cards, that you just draw lategame, play and win with immediately. (like Tooth and Nail, Paradox Engine, etc.)
+kenneth acuna i agree on sensei's top (annoys me to know end, and its always the player with the longest turn that tend to play it ... more then doubling the turn length) the others arnt really a big deal, they tend to have little impact on games. I even removed painful quandary from my deck from how little impact it had on games (torpor orb is fun, and tends to maintain order/keep a player from combo-ing off)
Liam Hector Painful Quandary is an auto-include for a few EDH builds. One example is Phage, the Untouchable. Use Torpor Orb (or one of a few other methods) to prevent getting killed by her ETB effect, then when she eventually dies, because NO ONE wants to risk getting touched by Phage, Painful Quandary turns her into immediate player removal.
And here I thought you'd mention something that counters the first spell played every turn when you mentioned Arcane Laboratory/Rule of law. I also was expecting to see something like Naked Singularity show up but then I realized with Cumulative Upkeep 3 it's not so bad. Speaking of Time Stretch, I don't play that. I do however run Both Beacon of Tomorrows and Eye of the storm in the same deck... Like in one game I played Me: Play Eye of the storm Opponent: Army of the damned Next player : Sometthing and 13 2/2 zombie Tokens Next player Something Something and 13 2/2 zombie tokens Me: Play beacon, Something Something and 13 2/2's Shuffle Beacon Seathing song, Beacon, Something Something and 13 2/2's Mana Geyser, Seathing Song, Beacon Something Something and another 13 2/2's Epic Experiment for 32, Mana Geyser, Seathing Song, Beacon, Something Something and 13 more 2/2's And so on and so on until turn is finished Takes Second turn ... ... Draws beacon of tomorrows Table Gives up.
Akroan Horse: 0/4 Artifact creature for 4 Defender When Akroan Horse enters the battlefield, target player gains control of it. At the beginning of the contoller's upkeep, all opponents get a 1/1 white warrior token. SUPER fun when you're playing 4-way commander and you get stuck with it
I don't get why people have a problem with Sol Ring. It's just about the most vanilla mana rock available, it's about 50 cents and in every pre-con so it's not expensive or hard to get, and it's colourless so it fits in every deck that'd want to play it. I don't get what's so bad about Sol Ring when you have things like Chromatic Lantern, Worn Powerstone and Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, Coalition Relic, the Talismans etc. etc. etc.
+TheMrVengeance The thing is there are deck that have a reason not to play Chromatic Lantern, Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, etc. There's close to no reason not to play Sol Ring in just about every conceivable deck. It's ramp with no downside. Mana generators that produce more than they cost will always be an asset. It's as good turn 1 as it is turn 50 as you play it for literally less than free. Meanwhile there's times I have 4 or 5 mana and dont want to play Thran Dynamo or Gilded Lotus
Kevin Weaver - Yeah, but that's why I don't get why people would hate / be annoyed by the card. It costs nothing (in money and mana), it's useful for every deck / colour. It's obvious why cards like Contamination and Torpor Orb and Winter Orb and Iona, are cards that people hate in Commander. They stop you from actually playing the game. Or they make it last an eternity by not untapping or only playing 1 spell a turn. I don't see why a super vanilla universal ramp card would be in that same list of cards people hate.
TheMrVengeance because again, you can make cases to not run torpor orb. You can't really make a case to not run sol ring. So it essentially takes your deckbuilding element (one of the most fun parts of edh) and says, "no, you don't need 99 cards, you have sol ring. You need 98." But wait, there's command tower, now you only need 97. You're in green? Ok, cultivate, kodamas reach, green suns zenith. Now it's 94. You're in blue? Cyclonic rift, cryptic command, mystic confluence. Now you only need 91 cards! 10% of your deck is built already!
+TheMrVengeance because it's the "every deck must include this card" card. along with command tower, it automatically takes away 2 slots from your deck no matter what strategy because your hindering yourself simply by not playing them.
When you talked about extra turns, I thought of a card we all hate. When we don't play that deck. I'm talking about Time Sieve. With Thopter Foundry, Sword of the Meek AND Time Sieve all costing 2, you can fetch any of the three you are missing with a transmute. Assemble them all and you got yourself an infinite combo.
On a related note to Arcane Laboratory, Mana Maze is another fun one to trip up your opponents while not being *quite* as oppressive. On the plus side, it does basically say "blue spells can not be countered" I'll admit to running it in one of my heavy control deck. Along with Arcane Laboratory.... and Eidolon of Rhetoric....
I have a bad habit of receiving maximum rage in my play group. Reason being, I play Arbiter, featuring cards like Iona, Stripmine/wasteland+sun titan, and every Ghostly prison effect in the colours. Having played the deck for a while now, my top 3 plays that lead to the most salt were as follows. Turn 1 sol ring, signet.Turn 2 Arbiter, Blind Obedience. Turn 3 Elspeth Suns champion, Luminarch ascension. My opponents conceded. Or how about strip mine, sun titan strip mine, lightning greaves sun titan attack strip mine. I've done that a few times. But my favourite play i made was after i got milled a bunch, Emeria Sheppard Fetch, get back standstill to my hand, Fetch for hallowed fountain, get back Solemn, get plains, get back suntitan, get back fetch land, landfall get back lightning greaves, fetch plains, get back Elspeth, play greaves on titan, attack get back O-ring, play standstill, pass. Arbiter is a fun deck. for me.
Am I the only person that watches these kinds of videos for ideas on what to put in new decks? This obviously isn't my first time watching, but I like to come back from time to time just to see what I may have missed. Good stuff here.
In one game, I was pheldagriff and someone played thus tic study. I then brokered a treaty that says that no one may ever pay for rhystic study. He drew 50 cards off it.
Cyclonic Rift. Instant-speed one-way total boardwipe. The EDH regulars at my LGS have an informal house rule adding it to the banlist. We generally let anyone who brought one unknowingly simply use it as Disperse.
T1: Forest, Dorkish Elf, go T2: Plains, Selvala (from command zone), go T3: Forest, Dorkish Elf/Better Dorkish Elf, go T3.5: Swords/Path/Condemn, tap Selvala T4: Armageddon, thanks for playing
Empress Galina, Knowledge Pool, Smokestack, Dead Eye Navigator, Lodestone Golem, Trinisphere, Burgeoning, Consecrated Sphinx, Sphinx's Tutelage, aaaaand Standstill. Commander is both the most wonderful and most detrimental format of all time. Coming from someone who plays Jace, Vryn's Prodigy as their commander, and goes infinite on turn taking.
I completely agree! Of course i'm not exactly innocent, I used to have an esper artifact edh deck with Sen Triplets. I'd use Sphinx Summoner to tutor Magister Sphinx to my hand on turn five and then tap down the Master Transmuter I played on turn four to bounce Sphinx Summoner and put down the Magister. On turn five their life total would be 10, I'd have a 5/5 flying threat that they would have to deal with immediately and i'd have recurring artifact creature tutors straight to the battlefield for five mana each turn. Plus Mycosynth Lattice, Darksteel Forge and Nevinyrral's Disk combo is just straight up stupid if you when you have Master Transmuter to bounce a one drop Soul Ring in exchange for a nine drop Darksteel Forge. I felt so bad for pulling off some of my combos that i almost wanted to apologize..
I had a friend who was annihilating his opponent. And his opponent only had one life left and was relieved that the end was near, however, my friend was done having his fun and used Sorin to make his life back to 10.
I'd like to add , that tree of perdition is a rather devastating card in commander. I dropped an opponent to 13 , and wound up with a 0/61 blocker. It has the ability to be a massive cannon.
i had a jokulhaups, but when i dug out my magic cards that had been in storage for a few years to get back in game it and a few of my best went missing
Once I was playing a blink deck against 3 other players. I cast Magister Sphinx, making opponent A's life total 10; then hit Opponent A with Brago King Eternal, blinked M.Sphinx, then cast Otherworldly Journey, blinking M.Sphinx again. I don't have friends anymore.
I'm ok with sol ring, because I know that sometimes I'll be the one with it turn one and sometimes I won't. Also, seer's vision is "fun," because it basically reads "the next your opponent doesn't play a bomb the turn they draw it, they discard it."
I feel "Sensei's Divining Top" needs a spot here. Like Sol Ring, it's a highly-powerful card that you *need* to run in every single deck you ever make. Unlike Sol Ring, some people waste a lot of time with it (looking at the cards for five minutes and putting them back in the same order). Also, it's self-protecting, so unless you waste a Krosan Grip, it's not going away. A last point against it is price; as of right now it's like $30, which is pretty expensive for a must-have. "Goblin Sharpshooter" should be here too. It totally hoses token decks, as well as many decks that rely on weak creatures with strong abilities. Oh, also, put "Stasis" on the list. That card ruins lives.
Honestly, in a game with a decent amount of players, getting hit with Curse of Exhaustion is even worse than Rule of Law or Arcane Laboratory. It's the same effect, but it only works on the enchanted player, meaning that if you get hit by it, you get to watch everybody play as many cards as they want, but you're the only one who can only cast 1 spell a turn.
4:27 i just think of Jace, Unraveler of Secrets. especially because Erayo, Soratami Ascendant is banned. and Magister Sphinx (7:37) is a fun card.... (played in a Sydri, Galvanic Genius deck) together with Master Transmuter + an unblocked attack. what do you think about Grave Pact and similar cards? (sacrifice deck with Balthor the Defiled commander)
Surprised Warp World wasn't mentioned, or the Great Aurora. Winter Orb I'd have to imagine is annoying too, I considered throwing one in my Colorless commander deck, but with Ulamog as my commander, I didn't want to do something like that to make me even more of a target.
I'm not seeing many people call out Deadeye Navigator. I was adamant that it needed to be next up for a ban, until I played against contamination for the first time today. BOTH should have gotten axed before prophet. (Who also deserved a ban)
Attacked with Narset, Enlightened Master revealing Time Stretch and Narset Transcendent.............. From this point on Time Stretch was banned in our playing group, it was so much fun while it lasted!
"Why have one turn when for 10 mana you can have two..." or 22 as I managed running Nelson with reverberate on my isochron (which was activated using sol ring mana), then copied with a flashbacked increasing vengeance. I then recurred it a few times to make sure the game was mine. I had no one on my table 2 turns in CD
It is nice to have a list of, use with caution cards, when tweaking a deck it's always tempting to make the most competitive deck possible, but at two hours a game you are well served by ensuring most everyone is at least having mostly fun otherwise your decks sit in the closet unused as no one will play.
I know it's wrong, but I kind of love every single one of the cards mentioned. Jokulhaups and Armageddon were of significant use to me back in the day. :)
I was stupid enough to put a Serra Ascendant out turn 1...followed by a Luminarch Ascension on turn 2. Yeah...I was living the dream! ...lol, no. From there out, every person at the table just tore me to shreds and I was quickly taken out. Lesson learned! xP
I'm kinda sad that Stoney Silence wasn't mentioned. I played it on turn 2 in a game recently and turned my opponents' mana rock into dead weight! Also, putting Mycosynth Latice on the field means nobody can cast ANYTHING (tapping a land for mana is a activated ability) and you just have to punch it out!
"Sorin Markov! Good thing you cant play him turn one!" But you can play him turn two. Turn one you drop swamp and get a sol ring. Turn two drop another swamp, use that swamp for dark ritual then use a swamp and sol ring and you have Sorin turn two.
in one 4 player commander game i was playing, an opponent time streched, and i wild ricochetd it onto myself for 4 extra turns
Nice
A small part of my soul dies every time I have to pay 1 for Rhystic Study.
Lol!!!
I play Nekusar with Mindcrank, never cared about paying 1.
How about doubled with Copy Enchantment?
He ended up drawing about 40 cards off of it
Torpor Orb is 2 mana, not 3. I'm clearly drunk. Also that card is stupid.
+TheManaSource I never have and never will pay for rhystic study :).
+TheManaSource Hey Wedge, loved this video :D basically a thing i was looking for.
iona
+Rip HD ironic as how you have teemo as your id pic
+TheManaSource I play a Brago, King Eternal Commander deck, and Torpor Orb is the bane of my existence
this could have easily just been a 10 minute video of you reading every card with the word *Sliver* on it.
+TheMagicManSam Oh...oh...JUST YOU WAIT SAM! JUST...YOU...WAIT!

I got no great answer to that, but Patriarch's Bidding have won me a few games.
As a newer player I would love this as a series. It allows me to see a ton of cards and combos I haven't heard of.
You know WHAT s c r e w it I'm buying all of these and making a wubrg deck from this list and the others to come.
Sanity.
I care not for it.
+Smiff get conflux
+THE BATLORD
Yes.
+Smiff Most of these cards are green or white and have inevitably made their way into my Captain Sisay deck
Kevin Weaver
he would reply the same.
i have a few of those.
you missed Iona. and yes this is a series I want.
Funny thing is Torpor Orb, another card on this list doesn't affect Iona ;p
+Brian Wise
Iona should be banned immediately.
+Phyrexian Newborn I don't disagree. But it probably won't because it only effects mono colored decks badly. in duel edh yeah definitely ban her. But in vs. where 4 players will most likely not be all playing the same color let alone mono color, she is just a hassle.
All my friends play black so its fun when someone brings a iona
If people are playing mono colour, then yes it will only affect one person, but that one player loses instantly. If people are playing two or three colour, there will be overlap. In neither scenario is it fair.
7:04 Had me laughing so hard. "Have you ever taken 30 damage on turn 6 or earlier? So you are familiar with Sorin Markov."
Will we be getting a SOI Commander Spotlight?
Yes!
Niiiiiiice, so excited!
no winter orb? really?
Episode 2 will exist ;)
TheManaSource don't forget stasis for a worse winter orb
Came here looking for Winter Orb.
lol he puts sol ring but not orb of winter smdh. pitiful
Don't forget winter orb: the commander.
Not a card per say, but one of the most annoying things in Commander is when you are the only one at the table packing significant amounts of board control. Annoying cards are a problem when you are constantly relying on yourself to remove them.
As a Daxos the Returned player I fully sympathize.
Half the decks I build end up control because of this.
Do you mean stax pieces?
Rule of law actually speeds up the game. It prevents 10 minute during turns of your opponents.
+Thomas Bodifee Except when they sift through planeswalker abilities, activated abilities of artifacts/creatures. But those players would be casting spells on that of that so I guess you're still right. Just in some cases it means turns are "not quite as long as they previously would have been"
+Kevin Weaver but it also tends to stop some infinite and near infinite loops (expecially the recast loops)
personally not a fan, but rule of law/laboratory has its uses in a game .... just depends on the player and the meta, if its a good thing or a annoying one.
"it turns one 10 minute turn into 10 turns" is not speeding things up
Rhystic study grinds my gears. People just say "just pay the 1", easier said than done.
+Jeremy McNair
ikr
no it's really easily done. just pay the one. wait a turn. don't give your opponents 20 free cards in a turn. don't. just pay the 1
+WarsWorth so either slow your deck down and play at a handicap or let you opponent draw a card?
+Jeremy McNair yes. slow your deck down. Rhystic Study should read "all spells cost 1 more to play."
The last time I watched somebody not pay the one with Rhystic Study, it lead to Cyc Rift Overload + Armageddon + Boros Charm.
That was definitely a fun game of Magic.
Iona is fun...oh wait, I meant the other thing...not fun.
+VBC Trinity No Idea why he didn't mention it. This card is so boring to fight.
yeah Iona pisses me off to be glad Iona is legal and painters servant is banned imagine this play you cast Kaalia of the vast equip lightning greaves then you cast painters servant and pick a color then you attack with Kaalia and put Iona into play choosing the color you just turned everything
*****

Wedge. we need more Worst Cards ever. Hate the Game. need more Won't Cards Ever
Worst* but still Wedge. Worst Cards Ever or riot
i think won't cards ever is pretty accurate
+Jonas Candy We also need Want cards ever, luck cards ever, fuck you cards ever, fuck me cards ever and also ever cards ever! all them lists! make it happen Wedge!
Just change the channel to worst cards ever already
i personally hate to play against "Iona, Shield of Emeria" and "Void Winnower"
Raimund Keller Void Winnower can be dealt with and isn't hard to get around. Emrakuul and Ulamog, however...
with void winnower, oddly, you cant even
When I see a basic land, I just get so TILTED!!!!
Honestly I'm new to the format and videos like these help me NOT lose the new friends I just made at my LGS - so thank you, I appreciate it. There were cards in here where I went "Oh wow I could really do good with that" as you basically said "This is so annoying and you'll probably lose friends"... thanks
no iona, killer of fun and friendships?
+TWilko234 Gotta save something for the next installation.
+TWilko234 Thanks, that was the card I was thinking off, but coulnd't remember the name. Had a friend that used to drop her with Kaalia... good thing he fucked up his deck by removing big ass demons and angels and replacing them with massive removals XD
+TWilko234 Lol, I know everyone's pain because I play Kaalia of the Vast. Yeah people hate me when I turn 3 lock.
How about the staple blue cyclonic rift that either everyone bluffs having or has just at the right moment every game?
U ever seen Zur's Weierding?
winter orb.... that card sucks in every format!
or the stick version... Hokori, Dust Drinker
or the enchantment version... Rising Waters
+kenneth acuna I love and hate that card. In Narset, it's incredible. Against it, kill me.
+Matthew Rothery or the big brother version, Stasis
+Bryan Cooper Stasis requires a lot of setup :(
Wedge, Keep up the good work. I like this series can we have more of this type from you?
Clearly every single card that Zedruu runs was overlooked.
+Alien Platypus probably because most of them aren't the cards as much as the combos. Also these rage cards are clearly from the perspective of a control commander.
+Atmapalazzo Except Rhystic Study. And perhaps Rule of Law and friend (depending on whether you define pillowfort as control).
+Lance Groeneveld except that both those cards were mentioned :V
Atmapalazzo You said... from perspective of a control player. He hated on Rhistic study, a control player magnet. He hated on Rule of Law, a pillowfort card. Wedge is in fact a control/pillowfort player, but he wasn't singing their praises.
oh, you meant that. I thought you were talking about the first part of my comment.
jokulhaps is a great game-ender. i love to resolve it with darksteel forge out so that I get to play magic and everyone else gets to suck it
im suprised zur didnt make the list hes arguably the best commander in the format
Thrasios
thanks for telling me what cards to have in a deck! great advice!
is it bad if im running most of these already
it means you're playing the game efficiently. Nicely, on the other hand, is not your forte
+Joseph Lucero yes. =p
+Joseph Lucero It probably means you play group plays hard like mine :)
+Joseph Lucero You are not alone, in my 12 edh decks, I play all those or similar cards, except 3 of this list. Sol ring, Rustic study and Vorinclex for me are staples in EDH.
You must have Zero friends
I'd also include some of those "oops I win" cards, that you just draw lategame, play and win with immediately.
(like Tooth and Nail, Paradox Engine, etc.)
Where's
Havoc Festival
Painful Quandary
Spreading Plague
+kenneth acuna that's for the second video in the series :)
also another card i hate in EDH is sensei's top. im sure every one knows how much time that adds into a game when its played.
Like in one game I played
Me: Play Eye of the storm
Opponent: Army of the damned
Next player : Sometthing and 13 2/2 zombie Tokens
Next player Something Something and 13 2/2 zombie tokens
Me: Play beacon, Something Something and 13 2/2's
Shuffle Beacon
Seathing song, Beacon, Something Something and 13 2/2's
Mana Geyser, Seathing Song, Beacon Something Something and another 13 2/2's
Epic Experiment for 32, Mana Geyser, Seathing Song, Beacon, Something Something and 13 more 2/2's
And so on and so on until turn is finished
Takes Second turn
...
...
Draws beacon of tomorrows
Table Gives up.
Cyclonic Rift.
You all know why.
Best control card ever printed!
+MrZoichi the tempo gain though...
By the time somebody casts that in my games, it just reads 'tap everybody's lands for a turn'
+BOBONATOR2 I usually see it read "You win the game"
Awesome video as always, Wedge. Something about these types of vids, as downbeat as they may be, that I really enjoy.
Needs more Humility
Akroan Horse: 0/4 Artifact creature for 4
Defender
When Akroan Horse enters the battlefield, target player gains control of it.
Kevin Weaver - Exactly, so why hate specifically Sol Ring, when there are a dozen "must-include" cards?
+TheMrVengeance because it's the "every deck must include this card" card. along with command tower, it automatically takes away 2 slots from your deck no matter what strategy because your hindering yourself simply by not playing them.
This could be a series/guide not to lose your friends. I'm diggin' it.
Cyclonic Rift pisses me off
Cycolinc Rift, if played right, should read "Win the game."
This is a rather amusing video, I wouldnt be opposed to seeing more of them.
I would LOVE to see a series on annoying cards in MTG :D
In one game, I was pheldagriff and someone played thus tic study. I then brokered a treaty that says that no one may ever pay for rhystic study. He drew 50 cards off it.
You finally got me. I played enough MTG & watched enough of your videos that I never have to play again.
Thank you.
Cyclonic Rift. Instant-speed one-way total boardwipe. The EDH regulars at my LGS have an informal house rule adding it to the banlist. We generally let anyone who brought one unknowingly simply use it as Disperse.
T1: Forest, Dorkish Elf, go
T2: Plains, Selvala (from command zone), go
T3: Forest, Dorkish Elf/Better Dorkish Elf, go
T3.5: Swords/Path/Condemn, tap Selvala
T4: Armageddon, thanks for playing
Tangle Wire and Null Rod. Plus the combination of strip mine, crucible of worlds, and any card that lets you play more than one land a turn.
Im shocked cyclonic rift hasnt been mentioned much. That card feels so broken when your on either side of it
I completely agree!
Azusa, Lost but Seeking. Lost but seeking my mind once my opponent is seven to ten land drops ahead of me.
Added half of these to my Blue Green White Planeswalker commander deck thanks. :)
i had a jokulhaups, but when i dug out my magic cards that had been in storage for a few years to get back in game it and a few of my best went missing
My favorite thing to say is "do you want to pay 1 more mana for that spell?"
One of the most used phrases in my play group is "Did you pay the one?"
Keep doing this series. Even if they are annoying cards, more wedge is still good.
The whole time I was waiting for him to mention the grave betrayal and archfiend of depravity combo
LOVE this video! More videos on Commander!
More vids in general, please.
I agree with the Solring choice. it usually comes with a 2 mana rock ontop of it also. The T1 Solring guy is usually the guy who wins.
a number of people I play with have been removing sol rings from our decks. because we got tired of seeing it in literally EVERY deck ever
This is fantastic love it. id love to see more.
Also wedge what's your thoughts on a "Gisa and Gerald" commander deck
also another thing about rhystic study, its super annoying when the person witch it constantly asks: "are you going to pay the extra 1 for that?"
Honestly, in a game with a decent amount of players, getting hit with Curse of Exhaustion is even worse than Rule of Law or Arcane Laboratory. It's the same effect, but it only works on the enchanted player, meaning that if you get hit by it, you get to watch everybody play as many cards as they want, but you're the only one who can only cast 1 spell a turn.
as a Krenko player, Darksteel Mutation on said Mob Boss has blown out my competitiveness on multiple occasions.
Thanks for reminding me to put Rhystic Study in my Commander decks!
You know, I saw you mention Aura Shards, but the creature version (Harmonic Sliver) is run in a LOT more decks that I've seen.
Torpor Orb was just re-made in Ixalan as a creature and you liked it XD
I'm not seeing many people call out Deadeye Navigator. I was adamant that it needed to be next up for a ban, until I played against contamination for the first time today. BOTH should have gotten axed before prophet. (Who also deserved a ban)
Attacked with Narset, Enlightened Master revealing Time Stretch and Narset Transcendent.............. From this point on Time Stretch was banned in our playing group, it was so much fun while it lasted!
Just bought all these for my Atraxa walkers deck just for the tilt factor. Thanks wedge my group will probably kill me next week.
When you had your 3 next turns planned out precisely to 1 mana and someone plays study...
Speaking of rage-inducing, your shirt today was mildly infuriating. The little logo made it look like there was something stuck on my phone screen. Gj
It always brings me great joy when other people choose to pay for Rhystic Study and the sadness on its controller's face.
iona, shield. void winnower, eldrazi annihlator titans, rhystic study, kalitas traitor of geth, narset enlighten master ... there are many more
"Why have one turn when for 10 mana you can have two..." or 22 as I managed running Nelson with reverberate on my isochron (which was activated using sol ring mana), then copied with a flashbacked increasing vengeance. I then recurred it a few times to make sure the game was mine. I had no one on my table 2 turns in CD
How about a series about the most broken cards in a given standard rotation?
The link to your outtro song is broken, but i really liked the song. anyone know what it is?
Mesmeric Orb, Winter Orb, Stasis, Energy Flux, Aura Flux, Notion Thief, Sire of Insanity, Iona, Shield of Emeria, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur and Cyclonic Rift
It is nice to have a list of, use with caution cards, when tweaking a deck it's always tempting to make the most competitive deck possible, but at two hours a game you are well served by ensuring most everyone is at least having mostly fun otherwise your decks sit in the closet unused as no one will play.
Despite the one colourless cumulative upkeep, I run Mystic Remora in my Simic EDH. It can really slow down some decks.
love torpor orb, thx phage commander also took time stretch out of my exp kraj deck recently
Please make a second episode of Most Annoying/Rage-Inducing EDH/Commander Cards ☺
Storm Cauldron, Static Orb, Possibility Storm, Teferi's Puzzle Box, and Knowledge Pool belong on this list.
Lesson learned! xP
I love this! This video also has some of the best writing on the channel. So funny! New series please!
So we are getting more of these I hope? Sol Ring is such a pain.
I only watch these videos when I'm fucking drunk, and right now I am
I'm kinda sad that Stoney Silence wasn't mentioned. I played it on turn 2 in a game recently and turned my opponents' mana rock into dead weight! Also, putting Mycosynth Latice on the field means nobody can cast ANYTHING (tapping a land for mana is a activated ability) and you just have to punch it out!
Primal surge is definitely a card that has nearly led to a frenzy in my play group.
"Sorin Markov! Good thing you cant play him turn one!" But you can play him turn two. Turn one you drop swamp and get a sol ring. Turn two drop another swamp, use that swamp for dark ritual then use a swamp and sol ring and you have Sorin turn two.
my group tends to focus me when I play my dune brood lands mater deck
I need to add aura shards to the deck
