Really one of the most beautiful pop songs ever composed.

The band's concert film, "Stop Making Sense," has a great version of this. Lead singer David Byrne dances with a living room floor lamp! Good fun for the whole family!!

      Great film

@@JB-Deadskins It's my favorite concert film.

@@MapManLK it's definitely up there. The only issue is that it's not really live, except the final song. But it's still in the top five of "concert" films that were actually in theaters.

@@JB-Deadskins The whole movie IS really live, shot over 4 nights in a Hollywood Theater in 1983.

@@RandyHall324 you're right, I was confused because I remembered reading that Demme didn't turn the lights up on the audience until the last song, because he thought it made them less responsive.

Talking Heads were a breath of fresh air when they appeared in the late 70s and their excellence continued into the 80s. I love their movies too, Stop Making Sense and True Stories.

talking heads and violent femmes were like bread and butter in the 80's. Staples of life. Not a day went by I didn't hear them

They are hard to peg, for sure. So very much baked into the cake of the 80s yet always set apart from the Blondies and Flocks of Seagulls. Very much committed to their own thing.

Nice! This dropped when I was in high school. It was one of the albums we listened to on the bus on the various trips we took to this place or that. Also check out "Girlfriend Is Better", "Making Flippy Floppy", "Slippery People" and others from that album. And check out "Pulled Up" for another taste of their debut album. Talking Heads members met at art school. So "Art Rock" is apropos. My favorite Talking Heads album is Remain in Light.

My suggestion for a song to react to is Sax and Violins. It’s one of their last songs.

Wonderful song, which sounds unlike anything else. A perfect companion piece to this is Shawn Colvin's version 4:10 , one of the best covers ever. She takes a great song, completely changes the arrangement and many of the chords, while keeping the melody exactly the same, and giving it a very melancholy feel.

Saw Talking Heads on the tour for this album, "Speaking In Tongues", about a month before they filmed "Stop Making Sense". I developed a HUGE crush on Tina Weymouth, too bad she was already married to Drummer Chris Franz. Still think she is the best Female Bassist ever, sorry Tal Wilkenfield, and my favorite female ROCK STAR, sorry Susanna Hoffs.
