Tbh, MJ didn’t need to explain himself on how he went about it back then. He did it his way and he’s a champion. Undefeated in the finals, 6 times, and has more accolades than any other player in history.
thats what you do as a true leader. You dont start calling management and ask for trade, you dont change your team, you dont abandon your team. You work with WHAT YOU HAVE. And you make sure to prepare them for war. MJ pushed them so hard to prepare them for stuff they never endured, like pistons and Knicks. That is why they became a dynasty. Because the practices were so intense that the real game seemed like cakewalk... that is EXACTLY what MJ wanted. For people to walk on the court ready of r the worse, only to realize that compared to their practices this is just easy... that is exactly what every single teammate of MJ admits.
@Shannon Legg that's right, he didn't ask to get traded to another team with better teammates, he didn't lobby for teammates to get traded. He just worked on getting himself better and then pushed his teammates to match his preparation and work ethic. If anyone did it the hard way it was Jordan

Most of them are... In every era we had top alpha players surrounded with cupcakes like Horace Grant. Today’s era is the only era in the history without alphas and only cupcakes.
See that kids? That's what I grew up watching during the 80's and 90's, unrivalled intensity and bloodthirst to win. That is why you'll never understand why our generation don't accept LeBron as GOAT. MJ would have destroyed him.
I find it funny watching some of the older players talking about the younger players and how prone they are to leave and join others to win. They are so being nice and polite. Deep inside they are just laughing.
So one guy, ONE guy, ONE GUY kept destroying almost all his mates for 8 consecutive years, bar the 2 years he went away. Before him (for 50 years of pro basketball) there was no 3peats, yet this dude did it not once but 2 twice , back to back! (bar the 2 years he went away). His "glorified tough, high basketball IQ" sorry asses he had for rivals were all so lame this one guy won all his finals in 6 games! All road to the almost all the 90s rings stopped at Jordan's 4th finger...bar the years he had to be away!. This Jordanmentary didn't show that the era was superior to 80s or 2000s in competitiveness and toughness. It more like showed they were his sorry rivals were his babies and bitches. He owned them all day and twice on Sundays. He so traumatized those "tough guys", that even till this day, they all hide under his boot and feed off his ass and greatness. "I played against Jordan is some folks top resume brag" Blah Blah Blah....Everything Jordan this, Jordan that! Come of it!

Mj was just different man, another level of focus and determination. To be that talented, that gifted, that much better than every single one of your peers and still have the drive to improve is why he's the greatest in my opinion.
Mj never gave up on his team no matter what level they were in...he didn't run away from them looking for better players or team...he built them up....
Remember that Charmin Lakers practice where Kobe was going off on his teammates and a lot of mofos loved that shit because it was so Mamba-esque? Plenty of folks who loved that shit all of a sudden can't handle this?
I think either we have become so goddamn soft....or it's a case of people who have never played competitively, who will never understand what it's like in the locker room and practice, that voice their ignorant opinions. I mean he is their leader, not their friend, nor their lover. They are professionals who have to do a job, and if some players mail it in, Jordan will push you. Like any great leader. It clearly worked cause they 3peated twice. Like Will Purdue said, we saw him as the bad guy then, but as the years went by and we started winning, we saw how great of a teammate he actually was. It's tough love. Even Scott Burrell who Jordan went at the most, said MJ was a fun guy to be around off court. Kerr said that MJ punching him was great because it brought them together. Yet Jordan is an asshole apparently. Couldn't have been that he was a normal guy who just wanted his teammates to at least put in 100% effort and sometimes went far to push them. Some players like Kerr respond positively to that and some don't (Grant). But one thing that never changed, was MJ won every single time in the 90's when he started the season. Had Jordan been a super duper nice guy to his teammates 24/7, that would have never happened. At least his teammates understand. But a keyboard warrior knows better lol.
@@TK0S3 I agree he was preparing them for what teams like the Pistons would do the bullying & intimidation. Evan teams like the Knicks & Miami took up those tactics that the Pistons did. He wanted them to be tough & not be afraid.
Even as a teen growing up I always noticed how the Bulls were one of the very few teams (the ONLY one I noticed actually) that utilized their entire bench throughout the season and in tight games as well. It was a stark difference between them the the rest of the league. I always noticed it and attributed it to Phil growing up. Now I can see MJ had a lot to do with it as well in pushing them like crazy. Which resulted in them being better, more confident in themselves and each other, which in turn got them playing as a TEAM. Sure they fed MJ all the time cuz he was the driving force and leader, but all of them played their roles and contributed. That’s leadership and the true GOAT. 🙌🏽
I am from Croatia and I remember Kukoc after retirenement doing an interview and saying how most of the times practice was harden than the actual games and now we all see why. And he also said despite the toughness and all he would never trade those years for anything. Honestly why not put 100% into something you are getting payed for handsomly and will only be able to do for a limited number of years... Dont leave anything on the table give it your all.
The Bulls haven't been a great organisation in almost 30 years now. And of course there is doubt about who is the greatest player - I'd say Jordan but there are other answers that can be supported.
It was such a shock to read about what he was like in The Jordan Rules. He expected you to perform, period. When the best player is also the hardest worker...you listen, even if his delivery is harsh.
Yeah that’s what happens when you got a smart front office people forget Lebron was leading a g league team to the finals before he got tired of wasting his prime for a shitty team and wanted to win
@@th0ma572 uhhh...That's Lebron Not Thinking. Why would he complain about wasting his prime on a team that he's on. Dr. J went to the ABA for his prime, and didn't complain whatsoever. There's no excuse for him to do that.
Zedd Myster ok first of all the reason dr j played in the aba was because he would have got payed there more then the nba and the aba back then was just as if not more respected then the nba so that claim literally makes no sense. Second so your telling me if you are the best basketball player in the world you don’t want to win championships. Third so your telling me Michael jordan the most competitive man on this planet would stay on the bulls say if they didn’t hire phill Jackson, didn’t pick Scotty and trading horrance for money and didn’t make and trades to help mj you think he stays
@@th0ma572 no, what I'm saying is Lebron could've worked out things with his team. You have to be a leader if you are willing to get a championship again. There's no reason that this man had to leave Cleveland just to get a ring. That is not only selfish, but defeats the purpose of being a Leader. Going to the heat was the best/worse decision that this man has made.Instead of working on yourself and the team. You decided to transfer for a ring. That's funny, but of course(like you said). He wasn't gonna waste his prime on that team.
MJ set the tone and set the standard for everyone to follow. He challenged his teammates in practice to find guys who will go to war with him on the court. To build character, to not be phased in hostile Playoff environments and to not fold nor crumble under pressure. It was all to develop chemistry and a deep level of understanding of each others roles/strengths & weaknesses. A chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link, same concept can apply to a team.
This guy was a straight up gift from god for our entertainment. The greatest athlete of any sport ever, but also as charismatic as it gets. People could not get enough. So disappointing he retired at 35 and didn't keep playing. If he wanted, he could have won 10 chips in a row. I think the 2000 Kobe/Shaq duo would have brought a stop to his reign because he would have been just too old to deal with that kind of energy. But still. He no doubt could have had 10 chips.

MJ was one of the hardest practice players ever, if that could be measured but shows how much he wanted to improve and make his teammates better. The best in any sport will be remembered by teammates as being asses, jerks or whatever invective you can think of but it made everyone around them better.
Like a real commander - leading from the front. Greatness with absolutely no room for compromise and with the skills to back it up and lead by example.
The 2 finger gestures was him saying eye contact was the most important thing while playing no need to holler orders or use hand gestures on the court eye contact with your teammates can make some BIG silent plays without the opposing team catching on he wasn't trying to be a devil he just wasnt accepting careless teammates
Jordan knew he was the best player on the team obviously. But he also knew that he had other teammates as well to help him out. Shooters, rebounders, defensive purpose.... So him being hard on EVERYONE during practice was all about pride & standing up to him. Jordan saw it as if you can stand up to me & we battle during practice, when it's time for a real game, Jordan can rely on the bench players for however many minutes they can play so he can rest...also if you see someone weak, u gotta toughen them up to your level mentally. @campkira BS! You never even met him. I see him signing autographs all the time. But the times he doesn't, you self righteous elitists feel "disrespected". But 'HE'S the bad one, huh? Go figure. lol
Every team that wants to win a championship in any sport needs a player like MJ who pushes his teammates beyond what they thought their limits were. You can't always put your arm around guys and be encouraging sometimes you need to be the bad guy and like Bill Wennington said "it worked".
until now i can see the passion in his eyes. this kind of leader that everyone wants it. he swear and he push you beyond your limitation because he wants you to be the best. Unlike today to many baby feelings. you say something bad, they're mad at you.
What this little clip shows me is that Jordan went above and beyond to push these guys to be better. To make the team better. It clearly worked because these guys believed in MJ. Jordan was the ultimate team player.
The critical part with this kind of attitude is being able to back it up with your OWN performance. MJ was a hardass, but his ethic showed in his results too. Way too many wannabes took this attitude into their work (not just basketball!) while being mediocre themselves.

Tbh, MJ didn’t need to explain himself on how he went about it back then. He did it his way and he’s a champion. Undefeated in the finals, 6 times, and has more accolades than any other player in history.
Kareem has more accolades but MJ the GOAT
Samin Alam I didn’t know Kareem played defense too lol
Ewabound57 lead the league in blocks multiple times . All NBA defense first team multiple times lol
Samin Alam you just said Kareem had more accolades than MJ. Listem...
Ewabound57 he did , look it up ....college and pros lol
thats what you do as a true leader.
@Shariq Torres dude... stop embarrassing yourself. You are either deluded or completely misinformed... You remind me of those idiots that were spreading conspiracy theories and shit...lmao

PREACH!!!
Lol
Our species is gradually becoming soft as shit
@@TK0S3 I agree he was preparing them for what teams like the Pistons would do the bullying & intimidation. Evan teams like the Knicks & Miami took up those tactics that the Pistons did. He wanted them to be tough & not be afraid.
Kobe never be MJ. Kobe just wanna act, talk like MJ, but he was not.
T S
Exactly
Jordan = Thanos with all 6 championship gems!
More like Green Lantern with six rings. Jordan even looks like John Stewart.
God it’s beautiful to see someone who is only wanting to win. Especially in retrospect to today.
Best teammate ever man all of them loved the fact that he was like that, they all got rings 6 championships and great careers goat 🐐
@Greg A dont mind him, probably some dumb bronsexual... they would rather have coronavirus than watch the last dance and now the truth.
I think only Pippen had six alongside him.
I mean, Jimmy Butler did that
I am from Croatia and I remember Kukoc after retirenement doing an interview and saying how most of the times practice was harden than the actual games and now we all see why. And he also said despite the toughness and all he would never trade those years for anything. Honestly why not put 100% into something you are getting payed for handsomly and will only be able to do for a limited number of years... Dont leave anything on the table give it your all.

That mentality from MJ Is what makes the Chicago Bulls a great franchise on the NBA. The GOAT without any doubt
The Bulls haven't been a great organisation in almost 30 years now. And of course there is doubt about who is the greatest player - I'd say Jordan but there are other answers that can be supported.
He looks like a pure Black Panther. Just raw unfiltered emotion in his eyes. Sheesh
It really is unfathomable how switched on MJ was, nearly every waking moment of his life.

Lebron joins a championship team
MJ makes a championship team 👌🏼
Yeah that’s what happens when you got a smart front office people forget Lebron was leading a g league team to the finals before he got tired of wasting his prime for a shitty team and wanted to win
you're literally dumb

He was already getting boring by 1998, and shooting too many jump shots. It's good it ended at 6.

People can say what they want about him after seeing "The Last Dance." It all boils down to what one of his teammates said, "It worked!" Hence, why he is considered one of the best, if not "The Greatest!"
@chetsenior7253 I don't understand, how is he miserable? He's a six -time champion, Hall of Famer, he's a billionaire three to four times over and his Jordan brand shoes have been number#1 on the market for the past few decades. In addition, he hasn't played in over 20 years.
MJ was one of the hardest practice players ever, if that could be measured but shows how much he wanted to improve and make his teammates better. The best in any sport will be remembered by teammates as being asses, jerks or whatever invective you can think of but it made everyone around them better.
I feel like, in his own way, MJ was pushing the team to not only be better individually, but to also be able to play on HIS level.
I love that ever so subtle second look he gave, like: "im not playing."
Like a real commander - leading from the front. Greatness with absolutely no room for compromise and with the skills to back it up and lead by example.
The 2 finger gestures was him saying eye contact was the most important thing while playing no need to holler orders or use hand gestures on the court eye contact with your teammates can make some BIG silent plays without the opposing team catching on he wasn't trying to be a devil he just wasnt accepting careless teammates
that look at 00:15 gives me chills
MJ was like the drill sergeant of the Bulls 🐐
Jordan knew he was the best player on the team obviously. But he also knew that he had other teammates as well to help him out. Shooters, rebounders, defensive purpose....
So him being hard on EVERYONE during practice was all about pride & standing up to him. Jordan saw it as if you can stand up to me & we battle during practice, when it's time for a real game, Jordan can rely on the bench players for however many minutes they can play so he can rest...also if you see someone weak, u gotta toughen them up to your level mentally. They toughen up mentally their skills will follow smoothly. I.E. Steve Kerr
Pure alpha male, 6 rings speaks volumes, I remember I had a Math teacher that pushed me to understand Trigonometry but giving homework that was challenging but it helped sharpen iron before the test

Michael Jordan looked possessed when he did that eye thing then walked off
What this little clip shows me is that Jordan went above and beyond to push these guys to be better.
THAT'S THE BEST DOCUMENTARY OF THE DECADE
