Yeah, nice to say that, as if they didn't get blown out at home with a chance to win the title. Everybody is a bad ass in his own story, as long as he gets to tell it.

One of the biggest factor people considered him the GOAT was not because of what he did but how he did it. The work ethics, mental fortitude, hunger and desire to win at all costs was what make him who he is.
I think they go hand in hand imo
You cant split the two things, you can be the mental Monster of mankind and try harder than anyone but when you accomplished nothing extraordinary no-one give a shit.
And also you can't become the goat without the mindset, talent may be a part but how many talents we see popup that ended just "somehow good" because they slack off and thought talent will do the work?
Saw many gifted youngsters and after the initial hype they became cocky and lazy. "Yeah well I don't have to do extra training, I'm that badass I can do it even without training."
May work a while and then mid 20s they are not a young talent anymore just "somehow good" and even when they realise that mistake at that point they can't catch up anymore.
Thats why everything is connected to became a legend. ;)
It was both. Both are staples to stand on top. We see it time and time again with the top level successful people. Hard work wins.🏆
Read Phil Jackson's book 11 Rings. He wasn't a team player at first. Neither was the other guys. They learned to play together and exploded. They went from a stage 3 team (personal domination) to a stage 4(stable partnership), and then stage 5. Innocent wonderment.
Read Tribal Leadership. Jordan was the best individual. Kobe was too during his time. But what made them the best teams in their eras was their teamwork. Period
Truth-- because natural talent will only take you so far. This goes for everything in life.
God I’m lucky to have watched MJ play. Took kids to see him live. Everyone was in awe....even the opposition.
I saw him play an away game and the place erupted when they announced his name. I've never been to a home game where the crowd got so excited. I just kept thinking what must this be like for the other players on the home team.
I am so jealous of you man 😆🙏🏽

his FLU GAME had a seriously MASSIVE impact on me at age 26 when I was a college student...I got mostly A grades because I watched his behavior and emulated such every single time in my studies and especially exams. Michael will never know it but it really changed my life in such a big way.
Amigo, eso es increíble, eres un tipo genial por inspirarte así....pq no es fácil esforzarse sienpre
Elaborate a bit please @defaultworkouts
@@RahulKumar-ng2ghhe probably means that every time he felt like giving up, every time he felt like a little bitch, every time he was actually sick, he channeled Jordan’s tenacity and allowed it to take over and consistently guide him to ‘victory’ (in his case, good grades) He developed the drive and desire to succeed by essentially grafting Jordan’s psyche onto his own, probably by asking himself “what would Jordan do in this situation? Would he quit, or would he do whatever it takes to dominate??”
Ugh the flu game. That game, Malone and Stockton played like they had the flu, not Jordan. They underperformed dramatically, when Jordan was at his weakest too. And lost by the skin of their teeth.
Get this, had Malone made just one more shot or one more block, and Stockton just one more steal, they'd still be below their series averages, but the Jazz would have won that game, despite Jordan playing his lights out.
That game should have been remembered for Malone and Stockton choking, not Jordan playing through the flu.
Dude stayed with his team and that sad sack of teammates. Worked with them, worked them, got every bit he could get out of them, so that when they became champs, they did it together.

The story of his short lived baseball career is not told enough or as deeply as it should be told. The truth is, throughout his time in the minors, he was only getting better and better as the season went on. Hitting, fielding, game IQ.. he was getting good
Facts
If I remember correctly he started the minors on a 15-game hitting streak. That’s absurd.

4:56 all pro athletes should have this mindset
If you're talking about giving fans their best and feeling that sense of duty and professional pride, I'd say quite a few have it. But if you're talking about the Jordan Mentality, not possible. It's rare enough to have the physical ability to perform at that level. The Mental Ability to take the physical ability above and beyond, and the rest of the team with him, is another thing entirely. To have BOTH is maybe 100-200 humans. We're talking Jerry Rice's Mind with Randy Moss' body. In recent memory I'd say Ayrton Senna, although not the traditional athlete we think of, had a similar combination of extraordinary physical tools and the Mind to take it above and beyond. His lap at Monaco is unlike anything racing has ever seen.
@@cavaleer Yes, I’m talking about the first one
That is why I dislike Lebron more than any athlete. He is blessed with the best athletic body in sports history and probably also the most luck in terms of injuries . However, time and time again I see him just give up with 1 or 2 games left in a tough playoff series.
@@jonathanfan3709 and then he does his damndest to get other stars to support him. Rather than raise his or his teammates game.
Grover was nearly crying when saying this. Just amazing
i hated it when a close friend literally forced me to buy an expensive ticket to watch MJ. But today, that is the only game i can vividly remember and I cherish it. it turned out to be a bargain. watching him play live on the court is totally different than watching him on TV. I have watched many NBA games live but watching MJ had a diff feeling. The entire arena was fully entertained the entire game. i have watched bird, magic, kobe, curry, lebron. the one with the most audience impact in live games is MJ, then larry vs magic, then kobe, then curry lebron.
My fav game live was versus Charlotte , Larry Johnson, mugsy, Alonzo ..unforgettable
What still amazes people to this day is that Jordan has 6 titles, and is top ten in the NBA in points while retiring MULTIPLE times!!!!
Jordan was a special, special basketball player. One of a kind. His game, mentality, just pure assassin. And I was a die-hard Showtime Lakers fanboy cause I'm from LA.

" “The first time that I ever talked to him was that year, playin’ in the rookie game. I’ll never forget it ’cause he said, ‘What’s up, you little b*tch?’ So, Iverson served him a little humble pie next time he saw him.
Amazing to see tim grover, his trainer over the years get emotional when discussing michaels work ethic. Just proves how much they went through and how hard he worked
Every great teacher hopes and prays to be blessed with that "one" student.
He was tough but not the type that “ play tough” . His toughness is legendary.
Watching Jordan & then watching Kobe it always seemed like Kobe emulated the mindset & mannerisms before he developed his identity on the court & that's why we were never able to separate them or fully appreciate Kobe's career...
Which was funny because Kobe always downplayed his MJ love but secretly worshipped Michael.
This is what happens when the most talented player in the world is also the most hard worker. Steve Kerr said it best- "Every day- every practice was a battle..." Jordan was on another level.
Michael Jordan equals no excuses!
Jerry Krause: “Dan Majerle it’s a great defensive player.”

Roy Keane shared the same mentality as Jordan. Win every game at all cost. Give 100% in training and in games. Demand 100% from your teammates.

Greatest athlete 🙌 💯
That's why he's the GOAT. Michael Jordan will prove you wrong every time if someone tells him he couldn't do it and made them pay.
I love the fact his own team mates after all this time said yeah he was a gigantic ass hole and jerk but as time goes on what he was trying to accomplish he was a hell of a team mate.
One of the bes nba all star basketball players ever ☄️💯
Dan Majerle was a good guard, and fun to watch. The year Mike beat them, he had 17 pts a game, 1.7 steals, shot 38% from 3, and was a good dunker off the break after he got a steal too. The Suns had a great team, and woulda beat the Knicks if KJ hadn't got hurt the next year.
Yeah but let’s not forget KJ chocked in the finals ( game 1 and 2) especially in major moments ( game 4) he fumbles and cost games that could’ve went to suns
I love that at the end with him and Phil. I haven’t seen that before.
HE WAS PUSHING US ALL TO BE BETTER... AND GUESS WHAT ? IT WORKED!!
MJ, one of my biggest regrets was calling out when I couldn't mentally or physically take anymore energy, negative or positive.
Nice compilation!
Go Ty!!!!!!!!!!!!🤩 Keep doing your thang!!!!!!!!!!❤💪🏾
I watched that move he put on Dan Marjlie at 1:11 over and over. What a move. A lot going on there in only a few seconds. But at 1:16 look how he turns and picks up his pivot foot so fast and takes a step before he dribbles. I know they aren't going to call that it's probably not even travelling but it is a pretty incredible move. Who could really guard that. A guy with that move in the arsenal you would have to give more space.
He hadn’t dribbled yet, so it was legal. Hell, now guys take four steps & it doesn’t get called.
"why would I think about missing a shot I haven't taken yet?"
The King
And they compare lebron to mike??..
“I never gave up”mj23!!
3:20 HE never frickin turned it off.
He was almost perfect
I don't see how someone who is 6 and 0 in the finals doesn't make his teammate better. Assist is far from the measure of making teammates better, and even then, when MJ was playing PG briefly during the 88 89 season he was putting up triple double nightly. MJ had alot of intangibles that are far more than the story any stats can tell.
But the stats tell the story pretty damn well.
There are stats that tell if you make your team better. Championships, teammates making the hall of fame or all stars (who might not have made it without you), wins.
He warned everyone in the 1997-1998 season that he’d quit on his teammates and fans if Phil and Scottie didn’t return because without them he’s be ineffective.
Well yeah because one player can’t win games. He needs a team and that was his team.
What are you in about? He said only Phil, and no one else. Also turns out that Phil WAS offered a chance to return, but turned Kraus & Reinsdorf down.
@@JohnDoe-zr8pc nope. He was abundantly clear that it was Phil AND Scottie all throughout the 1997-1998 season in media interviews. I remember in real time and do not rely on the edit jobs 25 years later
4:50 just seeing steve kerr walk up to the line and have to chuck it up a little more is crazy knowing nowadays players can just shoot it so regularly (curry, klay, lilliard, etc..)

Lebron who? Mike, I mean Mr. Jordan is the greatest ever.
0:36 lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jordan did whatever it took to win and it took losing to the Pistons 3 times to realize he needed his teammates there to step it up. That's why he pushed his teammates to be better and if he to be an asshole to do it, then so be it. If you didn't put in the effort, Jordan was going to call you out or mock you. MJ wanted to win no matter the cost and he said it on the video.
Thanks

Imagine the incessant whining and butthurt that would ensue from guys like Harden, Lebron, KD, and Westbrook if Jordan was their teammate. Would have broken them mentally and made them quit.
Would’ve been hell of a special forces soldier

He never enjoyed to the process, to have the mindset that he had, it had to take so much out of him that, again, in my honest opinion, that he can’t enjoy the flowers we want to give him, and now we’re all seeing it
