Well... it sure has been a while.
I'm very surprised I was able to finish this video so quickly (I just started it yesterday). I've been dying to make a leftovers video since the last episode of season 3 ended, but I've just had problems with inspiration. I tried like 3 different songs but I just wasn't having it. I'm so glad I finished this. I am a huge fan of The National. Editing any of their songs is a definite must-finish video for me and editing Kevin with it?! Kevin is always so much fun to explore and edit. :)
I recently re-watched the show with my sister (she was a first time watcher) and you know when a show is THAT good when it makes a 12 year old cry... (specifically the "well" scene with Patti, and the ending scene of 3x08 where Kevin and Nora are talking) I honestly couldn't believe it. I actually didn't expect her to like it (she's a heavy Disney Channel watcher, too) yet understand it, but yet she had all these theories that later happened in the show and I was astounded.
I hope everyone else enjoys this. Sorry for such a long hiatus of not uploading anything (hopefully this means I'll be more frequent with uploading... I don't want to take 5 months again.)

I don't even watch this show but i have to comment on this video because here you've used one of my favorite songs by The National.
from the way you began this video with the timing of the letters, to the way you perfectly matched certain scenes to the lyrics (which is impressive in itself because The National is notorious for having quite obscure lyrics with specific imagery, which makes them difficult to vid imo) and yet, it doesn't feel forced at all, it more so feels that this show was just Fitting for the song.
and your editing is of course just, immaculate. certain moments that really stood out to me are 1:58-2:16, 2:23-2:27 - just the way you hit that beat and the shots you chose, paired with the voice overs, 3:07-3:12 - again, your timing here and the way the internal movement in the clips works with the intensity of this part of the song. and then of course the way it abruptly cuts off with that gunshot.
most of all, i'm immensely impressed that you've crafted this video in a mere...day? or two? it easily reflects weeks worth of work.
if i ever watch this show, i'm certainly looking forward to coming back to this video, so i can analyze it with better knowledge of the footage. but i just want to say again, that this is some amazing work.

Fantastic. It's absolutely criminal that The Leftovers wasn't nominated for an Emmy for their final season, it was a masterfully done. The finale should go down as one of the best EVER, it was a goddamn masterpiece.

I loved all the quotes you used, especially the family ones and then that transition into kevin moving them all to miracle was so brilliant. seriously you can tell how much detail and thought goes into every one of your videos and it really shines through in this one. As soon as I saw this in my email notifications I knew it would be great! The Leftovers is one of my favorites too and Kevin Garvey, man what a complex and fascinating character. Justin Theroux is phenomenal in the role. International Assassin has to be one of my all time favorite episodes and I've watched a lot of prestige dramas over the years.

That's probably pretty much everything someone could possibly vid out ot The Leftovers. I do not think that there's a best way to represent and to tell Kevin's story. You did it. You nailed it. Looks like the song was made for him and you to edit. The constructed storyline couldn't be more fitting, the atmosphere you created, everything. You're an incredible editor. I only wish you never stop editing.
My god I've loved every single one of your videos I've watched, especially what you do with Prison Break, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and even the shows/movies I don't know. It would be amazing if you did something with the new season of Prison Break! Great, great work!

Great Kevin Garvey video. I approve your choice of song. It fits the character and his overall journey. From wanting to run away out of fear to embracing what made him afraid. I'm surprised you've shown The Leftovers to your sister at her age, concerning the adult material. I also hope you are more frequent with uploading videos in the future like you said. There's SDCC this weekend and lots of good stuff had been dropping since yesterday. But you coming back with "The Leftovers" edit is the most exciting thing of it all. This was GOOD. I like that you focused on the sides of Kevin that were not included in "Where is My Mind?", that one was about him going crazy. This time you dedicated a lot of time for themes of family and Kevin's desire to escape. I really appreciated that. What did you think about season 3?
MatiZ815 Thank you! And I really loved Season 3. I love how it focused on "stories" this season, which I think in the end, was a very powerful season from the rest. (I still think season 2 is my favorite, though). I loved episode 4 with Kevin and Nora (that ending scene with them in the hotel and the water dripping down off of Nora's face was so hauntingly beautiful.) I love how that all carried out. Episode 7 was very amazing too, I was so excited to see Patti again! I think that's my favorite episode of the season. That and the "International Assassin" episode are some of the most therapeutic and spiritual 120 minutes that you can experience. The whole scene with Kevin reading the book in 3x07 gave me so many chills. And, I loved the finale so much. The cinematography was so spiritual, it's like a "fantasy world" with how everything was set up. But, I think it's one of the best finales, in my opinion. I love that the ending leaves you open to whether or not to believe Nora's story. I think that just makes it more powerful, without having any real "closure" for the audience. It reminds me of the episode with Nora and Laurie talking about closure, and how it made people angry once they got it. The Leftovers just proves that all you really need is a good story and good writing to make something truly amazing. That's a thing I'm going to miss about this show, because I've seen nothing like it before.
I liked season 3 as well but I have to say that it was my least favorite. I never liked those bottle episodes that are focused on one character. That's one of the reasons why I didn't like TWD last season (of course, Leftovers are so much better). I liked the finale but, unfortunately for me, Nora is my least fav character on the show so that was an issue. Ep. 7 was incredible though, the final minutes were absolutely perfect. I heard Lindelof works on another series for HBO right now, "Watchmen". I trust this men with everything after "Lost" and "The Leftovers". Oh, and thanks for this song. It beautiful and it's giving me so many ideas!

Heather! I have an idea for the return of TWD. I think a Rick, Shane and Lori video would go great with the song "How did you love" by shinedown. The song has some very applicable lyrics as it's about the message you leave behind when you die. Please at least consider it. I think it would be wonderful. I know you'll find a way to make whatever your next video is fantastic.
