    If hunting is kept in as a sport, Sketches from a Hunter's Album short stories by Turgenev is wonderful. Will be lost of Hemingway with sports in. Great effort on this Gavin. Happy reading.

    Zane Grey and Philip Wylie both had fishing stories. There were lots of sports pulps which many sf genre writers contributed to. I'm sure a large number of the sports pulps can be found at the internet archive.
