    Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the receiver [the pedal size one with the audio-output] have an internal battery?
    I can't see how it's practical to throw onto a pedalboard considering the receiver itself doesn't have a 9v input..

    This looks like it could be the answer! I would really appreciate being 'unleashed' at gigs. I especially like the option of joining/leaving the stage with my guitar in place and ready to play. How dramatic, right? Just stroll onto the stage with axe in hand and start playing when you reach your spot. Cool for stage-sharing with other performers, eh, what?

  • @perryd6761
    @perryd6761 7 років тому

    Justin, I agree 100%. This is the most inexpensive, reliable wireless system around. But you're unclear about 1 thing. You can plug it into a wall outlet with any cellphone charger. The beauty of USB! I
    'm not a big fan of modeling amps or non-tube amps, so I'm not familiar with Line 6 for that & I did order a Variax guitar and sent it back because I wasn't thrilled with the quality. But their peripherals (stomp boxes, effects I/O's and gadgets) are excellent.
    Keep the reviews coming because we buy a lot of the same things.

    Justin, could you help me, please ? i have been having pain in my left hand and what i mean that it is not a wrist, difficult to explain, but its sort of a middle of my arm, like some tension muscles, i think its because i find it difficult to press the strings. Ive been playing almost a year and it happened before but then it went away in time and now its happening again. It happened after i took a 2 weeks pause in playing and after i bought a new pack of strings and got them replaced (the same strings as before) but i also got replaced i guess its called saddle(in a bridge) and the distance between strings has been increased, thats the only reason i can think of that i find it difficult to press. I want to ask, should i decrease that distance ? For now its about 5mm from the neck to a 6th string on the 12th fret. Acoustic guitar. Thank you for your videos anyway, i really love them, and sorry for any mistakes i am form russia :D cheers

    As always, a well thought out and realistic review from Justin! Nice unit but I’ve got a couple of issues with it. For such a small unit, why didn’t they just use a 9 volt plug in that most of use have on our pedalboards instead of the USB where we need another 220 volt outlet? Also, seems that the unit would get in the way on a strat and I’d be afraid of breaking it off. Better would be putting some type of clip on the unit to attach to your guitar strap and then into the guitar via cable. Just my thoughts.

    The Canadian distributor, Yorkville Sound, is replacing Relay G10T transmitters even if they are out of warranty. They are defective. I don't know about anywhere else but don't accept any excuses or denial. I contacted Yorkville Sound directly and they told to me to contact the dealer I bought it from. In turn they talked to Yorkville Sound, and then told me bring the defective unit in to them.

    I doubt that this will be answered but if you do happen to see this could you tell me what kind of strat you used years ago, the amazing looking red one that you used in the fender mustang amp review. I just really want to know because I think that that shade of red is perfect on a strat and want to know if its possible to find that same guitar for sale or if I would have to get a strat refinished in that color.

    Just a head-up for musos based in Australia (where Justin hails from originally), who are thinking about buying a wireless system. Justin’s unofficial endorsement of the Line 6 is valid, and it works well in the UK, and probably other European jurisdictions. But you may have problems with radio and TV interference playing through your amps along with your blistering solo. Long story short - as the transition between analog and digital broadcasting is completed, the frequencies between 694MHz-820MHz (what's called the digital dividend) will be transitioned for use by long-term evolution or 4G services.
    Check with the manufacturer that the wireless system you plan on buying for Australian usage is configured to use the frequency band from 1790MHz to 1800MHz which, as of 2015, is reserved exclusively for audio transmission. This is the band for guitar signals and wireless mikes.
    Here are the details: www.cnet.com/news/australian-wireless-microphone-frequencies-become-illegal-in-2015/
    Happy to be corrected or to hear of ways of getting around the issue of playing live without leads in Oz.

Use this with a strat and nothing sticks out! - I jam in bed or on the sofa !! it's so great.

    Some advice to make it more useful and wireless. I use a 5v cell phone charging battery pack (mines a Polaroid brand) to power my receiver base so I don't have to plug it into the wall with that short cable. It may void warranty but I really havent had much of a problem with it. I use this system live on shows especially on small stages and it works fine.

    If I run the balanced out to the PA will I get the sound of my amp as if I'm micing the amp?

    • @justinguitar
      @justinguitar  2 роки тому

      It will never be the same sound, amp (pre amp and power amp), peakers, mics, mic placement etc all influence the sound. | LievenDV | JustinGuitar Official Assistant

      @@justinguitar I think what I meant is can I use this instead of putting a mic on my amp or will it sound like a modeler with no cab block? My singer recently got this wireless system and the sound guy plugged into it instead of micing her amp and I said "that's not going to work" but I guess it will. Does it have a built in cab sim. I'm just not really understanding what the balanced out is for.

    Does anyone know if the plug fits in a telecaster jack? I know that sometimes the deep well gets in the way.

    Does the receiver (box) need to be connected to the power supply ALWAYS ?? What if the stage does NOT have power supply ?

    • @DyoGD
      @DyoGD 5 років тому

      Yes, you have to connect base receptor with usb cable and adaptator.

    I have one and it works well except on my electric guitar that has a piezo bridge. Works fine when using normal pickups but when I switch to the piezo, no sound. Line 6 recommend an adator to be used which I bought and now I get sound but also unfortunately interference noise. Also not very elegant with the adaptor so not a great solution. Would be better if Line 6 could fix this problem.

    I was flirting with the Line 6 too. The only thing that kept me from buying it was the Xvive (mind the spelling). It performs much the same but the receiver is even smaller. The receiver and the transmitter are of the same size and fit in a pocket and I take it everywhere to open mics like a virtual cable. Charged also via USB. ~$150 on Amazon. You have to turn both units on and off though. Will last 3 to 4 hours.

    Update:
    I bought the Line 6 a few weeks ago because the XVive was a bit sensitive to my Airport Express which I need to control my XAir 18 mixer from an iPad. Though I like that the XVive has no cables at all (just 2 plugs) the Line6 is is a bit more robust and forgiving towards the Wireless Router and seems overall a tad bit more rugged. It has performed really well for me and I always forget to unplug it during a break but, as Justin pointed out, it puts itself to sleep which has probably saved me a number of times. The XVive doesn't do that. You have to turn bot units off and on and they also charge via USB.

    Very cool little piece of gear!
    Word of warning though - it doesn't work with all guitars that have active pickups or other active systems such as boosts, preamps etc :(
    I believe you can fix the issue in most cases if you're willing to re-solder some connections on the input jack of your guitar, but in many (most?) cases it won't work out of the box with active pickups!

      Actually, Justin, I know you own a ton of guitars - some of which surely must fall into this category. Have you had any problems?

      Kasper Fauerby Don't know about others obviously, but it works fine with my Clapton strat with the tbx tone circuit. Also mine came with the adapter some have mentioned in the box.

      DO NOT tour with this, don't even leave your room with it. The USB port will break.

    I have a similar wireless system by Smoothhound that I have been happy with. However the Line 6 one looks better thought out. The fact the transmitter charges from the base is great. I can see that the transmitter doesn't hinge though, so when you plug it in a guitar like a 335 or a Sheraton that has the hole in the front of the guitar it will stick out - does that cause any problems when playing?

      This transmitter comes with a 90 degree adapter.End of problem on a sheraton.

      I just bought one of these G-10's and it came with a 90 degree plug adapter that might help with your style of guitar. I have a Strat and the hole is angled making it nice to plug into.
