    I put my dry erase board, marker and eraser in a bag. I call it their dry erase kits. Making it less pieces they have to grab.

      That’s a good idea. Generally they keep their markers/erasers in their regular pencil box but I could make a separate one! Thank you! 🫶🏼

    Chair pockets are also a good idea when students are at tables instead of desks. I did this in my classroom and it worked nice :)

    Great vid! Hope your arm feels better. Just a word of warning when using numbers/numerals in Kindergarten. When I worked as a TA in Reception in the UK, some children could not count and/or recognise numerals at the start of the year, or write their name. We do start school a year earlier but I imagine this could still be an issue. I would suggest using additional images (of say, an animal) alongside the name or number labels for them to recognise. We allocated the images using initial phonemes: apple for Anne; rocket for Rachel, etc. Also, we took pics of any manipulatives and put them on labels so the children could tidy up and find resources independently.

      Great idea! Yes, I agree that some may not know their numbers! I even had some 1st graders have this issue. I think I will just use it as a learning experience and exposure. Of course I won’t expect them to know their number right off the bat. I do really like your idea!!! Thank you! 🫶🏼

    It's looking good! I have a suggestion for your birthday board. Take pictures of a group of students holding the number (date) of their birthday and place the pictures under the month.

    Giving students a number saved me last year! Makes everything so much easier. Ask your custodians about hanging the clock. They hung one for me last year on cinder block. Your husband knows how to set up a classroom! Wish mine did 😂
    Yes, I had trouble with bringing supplies for math to the carpet. Then, you have to set the expectations about not playing with the math tools while you teach first. I usually taught first, then we got our supplies.

      @MissLifestyle  Місяць тому

      True! I didn’t think to ask them! Good idea about teaching them first then supplies!

    Kindergarten is very picture heavy because they are not reading yet. You might ant to consider adding pictures to your schedule and when you make your center rotations. Student pictures as much as you can is also helpful.

    • @MissLifestyle
      @MissLifestyle  Місяць тому +2

      Yes, I used to have pictures on my schedule but if I’m honest our schedule is exactly the same every day. Once they know it, we no longer refer to it for those reasons. Also centers, yes I always use pictures. I do that on a slideshow!

    I’m amazed with how much Lakeshore furniture and materials you have, that stuff is so expensive.

      I was just as surprised. 😅 It’s only the kinder classrooms though! We are a Title I school so most of the materials and things come through that money!

    I'm a teacher in England, I've been teaching for 8 years and every year I've had a class of 30! It's rare to have less than 25 here I think 🙈

    The same sterilite drawers on the floor near them or the cubbies would be good for toting their things.

      Any extrinsic reward programs end in guilt shame and embarrassment. None of them can be “used positively”. Read “punished by rewards” by alfie Kohn. Or follow Megg Thompson.
