I’m 36 weeks pregnant and about to start my 3rd year teaching 2nd grade. I’m excited to follow you as I’m about to set up my room and potentially teach the first week or two until my baby comes.
When you were in your room trying to figure out how to set it up, I do the same thing. I call it "dwelling". I sit in silence, imagining the students are there. I make sure that things are visible, accessible, and minimally distractable for the students. Next, I take pictures 360⁰. Then, I create a floor plan in my notebook or in Google Slides. That way, I have an idea of what I want the room to look like. I won't be excessively moving furniture and getting tired( I'm old.😀).
Congratulations! I am also going back to 2nd grade this year. I've been at my current school for 2 years, and all they've really seen me is as a 5th grade teacher. They didn't realize in my 25+ years of teaching K- middle school, 5th grade was the last one I taught.( Intentionally, in my district in another state , all 5th graders went to overnight camp with their teachers. No thank you. 😊) So, my principal came to me, very hesitantly, to ask if I would teach 2nd grade. That's like Br'er Rabbit being thrown in the briar patch( " Born and raised in a briar patch."). Second is my grade. My inner child is 8. I did 2nd for student teaching, my first 5 years of my career, and later, a couple of more years. I am so excited! I have been using in a composition book( I use one every year .) It has my materials list, floor plan, bulletin board sketches, basic ideas, curriculum ideas, anchor charts, etc. Godspeed to you. May we both have amazing years teaching the Class of 2035. 🤩
Luck you inheriting so many books! I started with a blank slate unfortunately. There wasn’t a teacher in my classroom full time before I came so I’m starting from scratch😩 I’m slowly building my classroom library but it can be expensive….good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy and the school year!
I definitely hit the book lottery. You should try a donor choose project. I know several teachers who built their library that way! I hope you have a great start to your year!
@@MikaylaShyanne I live in NC (near Charlotte) and this humidity is killing me! I remember being pregnant in the summer...its so hard to get and stay cool.
Wow! Sounds like it was meant to be! Have a wonderful year!! 💖💖💖

Dwelling...I like that! I definitely can't visualize things. I have to rearrange tons after the little bodies get in there!

Your color scheme is cute!
Hi, you can put black bins with books on the top of the library and those books without bins on the top shelf. 😊

Could you please share where you got the bundle for the schedule, birthdays, days of the week, etc.? It is so fun.
It is from TPT! Here is the link: www.teacherspayteachers.com/browse?search=spotty%20brights
Looking good so far! I know you are exhausted between the heat, having a toddler and being at the end of your pregnancy.
Thank you! It definitely has felt hotter this summer than any of the rest!

Hello! For the “Welcome” page select “Fit to Page” on the print window that pops up, should solve the problem.

🤔 so how long will you be out for once baby is born...sounds so stressful...wishing you the best
I will be out for a total of 8 weeks as long as he stays out until after his due date😊
Hi! I’m new here. Can I ask why you quit in Nov?
Welcome! I was teaching kindergarten and quit for several reasons but the biggest was the lack of support from administration.
So excited you are coming back to teaching!! I always knew that’s what you were called to do. 🩵
