Hey Kathy. He is relocated back to crew next week 😂. Was good whilst I was at work though and meant I could just move the car from work to where the boat was. The evening at the Inn was lovely. Had a great catch up with friends. I wouldn’t call it cheating as such 😂 😉. We were only saying that the time between now and the boat build will fly by. Getting quite nervous 😬. Have a lovely week ❤

I'm with you, beautiful sunshine & autumnal colours with a crisp blue sky & earthy smells. I couldn't do the locks or straddle the lock gates at my age but well done with help of Dexter too 🐶

I watched this video again as it brings back so many happy memories of my childhood 70 years ago. Before the canal was closed my Grandfather was lock keeper at the lower Aston lock ,sadly the house has been demolished but glad to see the office (hut) is still standing.

The scenery is incredible and your reactions to it and descriptions of it draw me right in, right in so that for tiny moments I’m almost right there too. I struggle with competitive games as a couple so we try to do something constructive like making things, playing musical instruments, going for a walk or planning, we might even do a jig saw. The shell of our boat has been completed and it is being moved to Hull for Cain Narrowboats to do the fit out. As with you they have already constructed a lot of the units. It should be ready in early May; not long now. Have a good week!
😂. We have always enjoyed playing cards etc. bit of a tradition now. Having said that, I used to do loads of craft stuff when we had the house but just not the room on the boat. Sounds like you are at a similar stage of build. Very excited for you. Good luck with it and hope to see you on the cut in the future. ❤

Another lovely autumnal day for your solo cruising Paul. Nice to see more of Dexter this week and be good for Anthony to be back next, The sunshine and shadows make for lovely colourful scenes. It would be great when / if the Montgomery did expand to it 33 miles. Some may think why when its a dead end, but a bit like the Ashby Canal, its well worth the cruise down and back, for the scenery . It looks like the Ashby in the way that they are both fairly narrow, and also we found the Ashby to be nice and quiet. Happy cruising to you three and be good to have you all together again next week xxx

A lovely vlog! I love the mechanism of the old locks, with the wooden gates and the clanking gear wheels. (Good job on the locks, Paul!) @@anthonysmith-storey9247 no Simon an I had to go in because Simon is site manager and I'm a teaching assistant, we have worked in school nearly 12 years and the teachers do work really hard but so do all the other people that are striking and don't get paid enough x

@@anthonysmith-storey9247 we got a pay rise but because I don't get paid for school holidays I'm still below. Everything is costing so much our gas and electric this month was £380 & that was with the £60 off and we live in a double front back to back so it's not huge house x

We enjoyed the Monty but nothing like the feel of being back on the main Llangollen. I loved Paul’s recent picture too. Really captured the colours. It was sad putting that ad out. Happy Friday! 🥰 It is a lovely canal and I'm glad you took some extra time so both of you could enjoy it a bit more. The sun and shade really made Morning Star look teal green instead of her normal blue. The sun looks lovely on Dexter's fur too. He looked all chocolaty. 😊 He's such a sweet boy.
It's really, really cold here but this area hasn't gotten the rough weather that some places have so I feel lucky. It's -6C right now but sunny. 🥶 The skylights are really going to be so nice but the washing inside and out is going to be a chore. Cleaning glass is a struggle because it's so hard to be streak free. Have a great week. ❤

Another nice bit of solo cruising Paul, proud of you, my only advice is always take the center line with you as it give you a constant connection with the boat as it drop, not to bad on them little locks, but when you get in some of the big un's the boats a long way down while you up top, most i have done on my own is 14 on the cheshire flight.

I have 2 dogs, one is a Tibetan Terrier who has just turned 15 and the other one a German spitz who is 13.
They are just wonderful, I adore them both.

Hey Harry. No, don’t think we have seen many taking this trip either. They limit the number of boats allowed at any one time, which is just as well as there is a distinct lack of mooring spaces. The new section is meant to open in April. Looks great. Have a great weekend and keep well ❤

Not till I started watching narrowboats on the canals did I reallize how much warmer and how much less snow compared to NYS There is in England.

@@jillosler9353 not much less, I live in "gloom county" and we get usually enough...our area is really green ..except now..we have at least 6 inches of snow in my back yard..which isn't much but we can expect heavy snow falls till into march.

Hi Paul, Anthony & Dexter-Dog. Missing Anthony. Paul you did an amazing job solo boating again. Loving the way you cross from side to side in the lock via the roof of the boat. It's very scary watching you wide step across an open lock gate. Well done for keeping up a nice commentary as you cruise along. A few nice dissolves at the start of the Vlog. You made me laugh when you said Anthony cheats at chess!!!! Just an observation (not a criticism), last week and again this week, there is a lot of pixelation happening, with the image becoming distorted on the edges. As always an excellent and very watchable and most enjoyable Vlog. Now what am I going to watch tomorrow (Saturday) morning, now that my morning schedule has been amended😀😀😀😀😀 Loving the image of your new boat (Twitter) this week. Paul is getting good at this solo boat handling. I don’t like it when he steps across the lock gates. My legs just wouldn’t allow it 😂. Oh, not sure what is causing the pixelation, just watched back and seems ok on our TV 🤷♂️ but thanks for the heads up.

The Monty does look stunning in the autumn and you are right Paul those lockkeeper's huts are pretty, but I think the CRT are missing a trick not using them for some sort of retail opportunity perhaps with some tables and chairs in the summer. Thanks Stephen I would love to back in the summer and explore the nature reserves. That would be a good idea if the canals were busier, I guess the danger is you would have loads of people crowding around the locks and we would be 2 stone heavier 🤣🤣 thanks for the coffee that was really kind x
A small coffee shop would be brilliant. Would definitely bring more people to that stretch of the canal which is what CRT want. The new section should be open this year which will be amazing. Great vlog, single handing the boat and the locks! It was wonderful to see the colors change on the boat about 10 min in, so i wondered if you have thought about a ceramic coating for the MS2? It can go on windows and paint and really helps to keep the dirt off for longer.❤
Hey Eric. The boat definitely changed colour in the sun. We nearly did the same colour for MS2. Never heard of ceramic coating. Will have to look it up. ❤️

It isn't a lime kiln but a bone factory that made glue and it was later moved to Queens head because of the smell.

The shell is built Andrew and should arrive after the boat show in a few weeks. We have done a vlog on why we are getting a new boat which we will realise in a few weeks which will then lead onto the start of the build vlogs. We are very excited. Hope you enjoy the progress. Have a lovely evening ❤

if you had made a trip in to Montgomery itself and visited the church you would have seen the grave of an highwayman who was found guilty of highway robbery and when the judge sentenced him to death he carried on pleading his innocence, and to prove he was innocent he turned to the public gallery and the judge and said you have convicted an innocent man and to prove my innocence nothing shall grow on my grave for a hundred years, and true to his word nothing did grow and i think it remains that way today

@@anthonysmith-storey9247 when you do return make it a point to visit the church, and if I remember rightly as I haven’t lived up by that area for years now, the grave is at the top of a hill and on the left hand side and you don’t have to walk through any grass as it’s on the road side, I know this because I have seen it when I lived in Newtown, and in late 1979 I was working on the Monty clearing it tow path laying and hedge laying as we worked on the section by Garthmyl just outside Newtown
