That first Hot Tuna album turned my fifteen year old, Black Sabbath loving ears in a whole new direction, and of course "Hesitation Blues" kicks that LP off. Love this version...
I first heard Jorma Kaukonen playing solo in the 70's, that then led me to discovering Hot tuna. It's so much satisfying to still be able to hear these guys making good music after so many years.
A wonderful performance only made better by the video and camera ops excellent understanding of how to properly record a live performance. Every image is informative and completely relevant to the accompanying audio. Thank you very much!
Tant d'années après, cela reste le plus beau morceau que je connaisse ! Et c'est toujours merveilleusement joué, avec quelques nouveaux arrangements. Super musiciens !!!
My uncle's bought me a copy of the original album and four weeks later I had a good deal of it down. Jorma is one hell of a syncopated picker. Amazing. No seguencing auto tine pitch shifting. Just five star playing. Thanks for helping to form my playing. And thanks for turning the world on to Gary Davis.
I was in S.F. in the late '70' next to Ghiradelli Sguare at the very alley that Papa John Creech was dicovered. My wife and I had a portrait of my son (at 2 yrs old) done by a street artist there.... just a personal adventure/memory!
Hot tuna has been a favorite for many a decade i think it was like 75 when i came across their double dose lp one lp was all electric the second was all acoustic. I recomend this lp ro all cept don't buy the cd cause they left off one of my favrites" killing time in the chrystal city" but for a great listen to the absolute talent this is the go to lp
I love Hesitation Blues...been playing it for years. It's a great song. Hot Tuna was Jorma's chance to finally express himself and be the guitarist he always wanted to be.
jorma is the best around, and i think we all love him, not only because of his great guitar skills, but also because of his spirituality... i'm not talking about religious things, but i think he's a great man that's why he has legions of fans around the world HAPPY BIRTHDAY JORMA
Always & forever . This tune has been the epitomy of my life ...Literally .I took this album out of New Haven Library in New Haven Connecticut in 76 77 bf the Blizzard
Then later ended up at fur Peace Ranch thinking I were camp ground it was paw paw clay by u Took my daughter s to four states that day on way home all good but missed u cause I read Columbus Ohio article
Wow. Wonderful musicians, still going, and what a great thing! I saw Hot Tuna back in 76. Jorma & Jack have become the master musicians of rock. Thanks for posting!
Jorma, Jack and Barry, May G-d bless you and keep you, May G-d cause G-d’s countenance to shine upon you and show favor unto you, and most of all, may G-d always bring you peace. You three are a blessing to humanity in the pleasure you have brought us all with your musical talent along our journey together. L’chaim and come back to the Rochester JCC theatre where you are always welcomed home as our hometown boys.
Fuzzy memories now, but I think my 1st encounter was a review in Stereo Review magazine when Burgers 1st came out. Been a fan ever since, and finally got a chance to see the acoustic version in Knoxville shortly BP (before pandemic). Broke my heart when they announced the end of electric touring, since I never got to seem them 'plugged'. I've been listening to music since I was 3 or 4 years old (no joke; older cousins broke me in early) in the mid 1950s, and I've never heard anyone better. Like my T-shirt says, 'If you don't know Jorma....'.
Jorma and the others ... just great. Remember when I first time I heard Hot Tuna.... or why not Jefferson Airplane, so intense, 70 ties. But then this is also so much feeling - great.
These guy's are the best. Nice clear recording, better then some of the bootlegs of more recent Hot Tuna concerts. If you ever have a chance to see Hot Tuna live it is an experience.
The 10 down votes don't realize that the increased tempo at 3:21 is part of the original arrangement and not that easy to perform, and especially reeling it all back in to the much slower tempo. Good cover here!
The change is known as double-time feel. The tempo feels faster (but is not) because everybody plays twice as many notes as previously. The chords continue to change at the same tempo.
I dont know how many times I have heard HT perform this song but this is the 1st time in a while... and Damn if it still isnt getting better and better!
I saw Hot Tuna perform on Aug. 4th in Fargo, ND the day after this, in an intimate 225 seat theater. Unbelievable talent. I have loved these guys since I was 16 years old and was first turned on to them. I am 54 now and all I need to do is close my eyes and hear them playing this song to take me back to my youth. Hot F***ing Tuna!
They have so many good songs, and a HUGE repetoire, that it's not possible for them to play everybodies favorites at each show. I'm just happy for what I get, even if they dont play...Water Song!
Hot Tuna with some of my favourites. So, great Jorma and the others is just great… just like Jefferson Airplane, but in another league. Music as one never had heard before. Just enjoy! Like casting the fly line. Hesitating to let the loop straighten out before the forward stroke.
Totally enjoyed listening to this, rockin at my desk! Should really be working. One of our employees has a Hot Tuna album and always sets up his sound with it when he DJ"s.
Saw tuna maybe 1/2 doz times [1970's], planing on takin the mems to the grave with me! And yes I WAS STONED at the time. It just don't get any better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never get tired of hearing Jorma play... He's a national treasure.
You got right.
I concur
Jack too! Nobody swings a bass line like Jack!
Barry Mitterhof on mandolin in case anybody's wondering....had the privilege of seeing these amazing gents in C'Ville Va at the Jefferson
First time seeing Barry was when he played with The Bottle Hill Boys, a prog bluegrass band back in the early 1970s.
This was my 1st Hot Tuna song! Love Jack and Jorms!
This was my first Hot Tuna song as well, all those decades ago now. Simply an awesome creation. Peace 💚
That first Hot Tuna album turned my fifteen year old, Black Sabbath loving ears in a whole new direction, and of course "Hesitation Blues" kicks that LP off.
Love this version...
This sounds even better than when they first recorded it 40 years ago. Hot Tuna rules indeed!
Jorma and Jack are the best. I'm almost 60 yrs old and I know my music.
I'm 70 and I have a ticket to see Hot Tuna this September in Seattle.
God Bless Fur Peace Ranch !
Robert Mayer. I'm going in Sept in Portland. Wouldn't miss Tuna
@@TJCHEFx "If you don't know Jack you don't know !!!
Enjoy!
The Jefferson Airplane Loves You.

without any hestitation-this was a GREAT performance.
I been tryin' to play it right for 40 years. No joy yet! GO HOT TUNA & Jack.
Memories - 1969 and beyond...what are they thinking as they play now? Thanks for the memories!!!
A wonderful performance only made better by the video and camera ops excellent understanding of how to properly record a live performance. Every image is informative and completely relevant to the accompanying audio. Thank you very much!
This is Music! Simply the best.
Real Music.

Thank you Jack for that bass solo. My how you can walk a blues change. You are just the best.

Nice memory Thomas....story for the grandchildren!
The sweetest version of that song that I ever heard. Beautiful!
Does not get any better.

Jack always blows me away. I've seen them a few times live and was always impressed.

Ah, memories! It may be 2020 now but closing my eyes and listening to this brings me all the way to the '60's!

Saw hot tuna at the academy of music in Manhattan in the early 70s what a great show

I have been a fan since 1973 when I was turned on to these guys. This was fun to watch. White Rabbit's bass line inspired me to become a bass player
I can never get enough, especially on a rough day. There is always a great tune you relate to and sit and lose yourself.
The hottest blues band I ever heard. Simply amazing.
Wow. Wonderful musicians, still going, and what a great thing! I saw Hot Tuna back in 76. Jorma & Jack have become the master musicians of rock. Thanks for posting!
He makes it looks so easy and effortless.
