I just say this to them: you are doing much better than you think, and you have so much obvious substance that you have no need for the burden of being terribly social. They will come to you....they will. You have a beautifully refined natural filtering system, and for the life of me, I cannot understand why you ever fuck with it. @@quintuplebanned4267 I just meant that my statement applied to both INTJs and INFJs (from what I understand an X means the subject could have either letter, E/I or N/S or T/F or P/J in that place, so two possible types) but not implying someone could be two types at once. I'm INFJ and after plenty of reading about the functions and types there's no doubt about it but for fun I'll try the test you suggested, thanks ! 🖤

I didn’t even bother with any of this until I was teaching in college and I thought it would be fun to do on the first class instead of awkwardly reading the dumb syllabus, knowing they all just want to leave, as I did. It was so fun, and I learned a lot about myself. Still do. I think the humanmetrics.com one is the best by far.

Fi is actually the opposite. It’s called Introverted Feeling for a reason. We rarely talk about or share our feelings (that example here felt more Fe to me). Fi would be more likely to send them a song, or hand them a drawing. One that’s so vague that it would be hard to interpret the complex feelings behind it. I have actually done this, rather than share how I actually felt or express what I wanted. 😂

@@quintuplebanned4267 Thanks for your perspective, and I didn't mean to offend with the attract remark. Context is important here... I'm an INTP and have studied typology on and off for around 10 years so believe I have a decent understanding of cognitive functions, the various typology models etc. I was married to an INFJ for 18 years (although took me a long while to realize the fact). My relationships since then have been with an INFP, INFJ and ESFJ. So I don't only attract (for want of a better term) INFJs, but having spent over 21 years of my life with them I believe I have some insight into their thought processes, and although they are rare, have met a few other INFJs (online dating...!).
One of the strengths and goals of Ti-Ne regarding people we are close to (rare as it is) is being able to understand them and see beneath their 'appearance' or the mask we all put up. We can appear oblivious but in fact are excellent observers of our partners, and likely to be one of the few types that can even begin to understand or make sense of an INFJ's mind or behaviour, although never completely or even partially (thus why they are so interesting to an INTP). So no they weren't being nice for the sake of being nice (well hopefully not the two with whom I was in a relationship lol). There is a reason why INTPs and INFJs are considered the 'golden pair' in some circles (although I believe there are better matches for both types). And agree that INFJ's don't come in packs, and wouldn't want them to ;]

@@c.s.70 Hi... really depends on the personality 'model' you subscribe too... for example some consider the Socionics dual relationship as the best for personal growth of each party e.g., INFJ and ESTP or INTP and ESFJ.. same functions but in reverse order, similar judging and perceiving axes but with opposing emphasis, although I believe this only works with maturity on both sides and a willingness to grow. On the other hand the best relationship for natural camaraderie and connection is considered to be with your shadow type e.g., INFJ and ENFP or INTJ and ENTP etc. where the directly opposing functions of different temperaments (extraverted vs intraverted) want to consume each other. As an example INTP Si child being 'consumed' by an ENTJs child Se, or in lay persons terms, INTPs want to have a good experience and ENTJs want to provide a good experience. Then you apply this idea to each of the eight functions that make up your type. I believe CS Joseph on his UA-cam channel subscribes to this theory. The idea it seems is that conflict is minimized where the same functions of different temperament directly oppose each other. By this model INFPs are also a good match for INFJs. From my experience INTPs and INFJs are quite compatible, INFJ child Ti is attracted to dominant Ti, whilst INTPs inferior Fe looks up to INFJ's parent Fe, although it seems that POLR Se of the INTP can cause problems for the INFJ with their inferior Se as we lack the volition and present awareness required to fully bring the INFJ out of their Ni musings, with an Se type more likely to energize the INFJ into action. In both models intraverted types do best with extraverted types. Hope this is of some use although a little theoretical.. sorry I'm an INTP ;]

No need to be apologetic, I'm an INFJ and I don't at all mind theory, in fact I quite like them provided they give me an accurate model of reality. I guess I'm already familiar with all that theory. I was just curious as to what you personally believed were the best respective matches for the INFJ and INTP, based on your Ti discernment and Si child experience/catalog observations and your reasoning for such, more of an final answer type of deal ;).

As an Ni Te user, I'm so disappointed in the efficiency of my flirting system. They usually freak out and perceive me as if I'm psychoanalyzing them when in reality I'm just doing my best to understand how their mind ticks so we could get along better. It just means, I find you so intriguing that I'm willing to put the time to understand you, while my Te wants to do it as fast and efficient as possible so I'm gonna be upfront about what I want to know. In the end, the lesson is don't make people self-conscious - develop your Se and Fe.
To be fair, they're right that you're psychoanalizing them, that means you're trying to find out how their brain works. And as an ESTJ I'm not good at knowing how my own brain works (although understanding the cognitive functions helped a lot) so it would be a little annoying to try to figure that out for an Ni users sake.

Very funny! Based upon this video, I'm definitely a strong Ni because I've always been hopeless at flirting. About the closest I come to it is really give up a chunk of my valuable time and brain function to listening to what the person is saying and by making the effort to ask this person open ended questions that will get them to reveal more about what they think about the topic. They probably just though 'Gee, he sure is a good listener' while I'm over here thinking that I'm being flirty. :)
