I have heard this young man speak several times, he has been through a horrific ordeal and been abused and mutilated by the medical system. I am so praying for him.
You say he, so I assume he started as a female at birth and is now a male. If the transition failed, does he have a gender at all now? So sad for this person, bad parents and doctors.

@@MauriceKolen The shame is on the doctors. Any serious doctor would not mutilate someone who is having mental issues. Doctors are not meant to mutilate a healthy body.

Richie, you're a very brave and remarkable person, and yes, you should have been safeguarded, not pushed down this road. I wish you all the best for the future.
It's definitely an indicator. So if a dr specializes in one area, and that patient changes their mind, they'd discharge them and refer them to someone who deals with whatever the patient is going through I would assume.
Just goes to show you. These ‘friends’, ‘doctors’, ‘allies’ are going to drop you like a hot potato if you don’t ’take the DARE’. And that is the saddest part. This young person keeps hammering home that she had mental health problems, and was ‘coming out of it’… meaning the gender dysphoria… but after the FRANKEN-friends-doctors-providers had transformed him into something he is not at considerable cost to his body, mind, and spirit. IT IS A SHAM!
Under no circumstances should medical personnel be *pressuring* patients into going along with either hormonal or surgical treatments. There's a difference between making it available and pushing it.
I worry about the rising number of young autistic adults, often same sex attracted, with histories of complex emotional trauma we are seeing who are now self identifying as trans. Its fine when the person just wants to live as opposite sex, but I question hormones therapy and surgery for people while they continue to experience serious comorbid mental health issues other than gender dysphoria
Nuh uh... but the consequences should be made very clear to everyone. Every. Single. One. Because I'm not losing my divine voice to HRT... I can just become a god-tier voice actor, wear those stretchy masks... wear an animal head... BUT NO HRT.
The fact Times covers this story makes me appreciate them more as reliable media. Of course they will face backlash fot it, but there should be no taboo with such controversial and drastic procedures
It should be law that you have to wait until after the brain is fully developed… in your mid/late 20s. All these people keep ignoring the importance of that!
@GrannysGamingWonderland - Um, Yes. The fact that they are pushing it on children that are not old enough to drive, drink, join the military, etc., etc., should be reason enough to make them wait until adulthood, especially when it comes to something of this magnitude. Schools now teach elementary age children this garbage when they're not even old enough to understand what it is - that's called "Grooming." If a child does not learn to love who they are, they will want to be someone else. That in itself is called mental and emotional abuse.
I agree somewhat, because I was questioning my sexuality until my early 30s. But my experience is unique, as is anything about human psychology which is fluid, unfathomable n varies from human to human. There's never gonna be a one size fits all law that will be fair to folks on the gender spectrum. We as a society need to accept the gender norms challenges, respect the generations who are asking these questions n assist them in the collective transitioning into exciting new ways to perceive ourselves n one another.
it makes sense that the medical system wants people to have this kind of surgery because the patient often has to come back, and sometimes be on meds for life. it's just for money. the more people get surgery, the more money the medical system makes.
This young adult is quite clear that this decision is not about age - it is about the ‘state of mind’ the person is in: he was in therapy, in a vulnerable, ‘help-me manage my issues’ situation. Their goal was to convince and gain practical experience on this young person. How dare they.
If you read my Understanding The Transgender Mystery paper you would know there are 3 groups of possible transgender people. Those who WANT to be transgender, those who THINK they are transgender, and those who really ARE transgender. It's essential to discover which group they are in which takes time, love, and understanding by family members, friends, and often professional help. It's vital to protect ALL 3 groups from making mistakes and going on hormones or getting surgery unless they are TRULY transgender.
Yeah that’s exactly right. Hit the nail on the head. This is why they used to require a full year of therapy and living as the opposite sex before they would allow surgery or even many hormones. They used to protect these people against accidental self harm through surgery.
I wish i wasn't transgender😅 but i am one. And i accept that. Although i dont belief in being born into the wrong body. It's just a sort kind of personality disorder. The best thing is to accept life. And if you don't can (and change it) then it is better to be okay with that.
@@taliaperkins1389so… body dysmorphia does not equal gender dysphoria. A lot of autistic people suffer from body dysmorphia, but mistake it for gender dysphoria. Can result in autistic people transitioning when gender dysphoria is not actually the underlying issue.
@@UwUImTheo I don’t see what’s confusing about it. If you listen to multiple detransitioners talk about their experiences, then yes it makes sense. Body dysmorphia, especially surrounding changes to your body during puberty, can easily be mistaken for gender dysphoria. It’s not difficult to see how disliking your body during/after puberty could be confused for being trans. If you hate growing curves or getting your period & feel extremely uncomfortable about the key features of being a woman, does that mean you could possibly be a boy? There’s also general body dysmorphia not related to puberty, of course, that can still be mistaken for discomfort with your gender. Body dysmorphia can result in people wanting to change their body. Gender dysphoria can result in people wanting to change their body. It’s only when detransitioners get older that they realise what they were actually dealing with was hatred of their body, rather than their gender.
Before “gender affirming care” became the standard, Thomas.D Steensma et al 2013 found that only 37% of childhood gender dysphoria persisted into adulthood hood, 63% did not. Across all studies only 2-27% of children continue to report gender dysphoria. Collectively, follow-up studies show the majority of children (84.2%) desist. All those children who would have desisted are now affirmed, leading them down a pathway to surgery and lifelong meditation.
@supernovaaust UA-cam won’t let me post the link, but start with “Factors Associated With Desistence and Persistence of Childhood Gender Dysphoria: A Quantitative Follow-Up Study”. Thomas D Steensma et al 2013. It has references to other research. Please could you send me your reference for the study that suggests 87% persist.
@supernovaaust Thanks for the reference. We (and the studies we refer to) cover two distinct issues. I’m specifically referring to children (who, on the whole, desist if left to their own devices). Your meta analysis doesn’t differentiate between children and adults. Although it states it includes children as young as 13, the majority of subjects may be much older, we don’t know. More importantly, it doesn’t tell us when or how often the follow-ups happened. It wouldn’t surprise me if a child affirmed at a young age, who socially transitions, takes puberty blockers, then has surgery has no regrets, at least initially. However, is there a honeymoon period? Have there been follows-up over several years? Does regret set in later (if at all)? None of this is answered. Most importantly, whether initially or permanently happy with surgery, would they have transitioned in the first place had they not been affirmed and had their puberty delayed? Have we in effect castrated a child who’d have grown up to be gay, or one rejecting their body due to abuse or other comorbidities? It reminds me of the clinician at the Tavistock centre (the preeminent gender clinic in the UK - since shut down after the NHS Cass Report) who said “there’ll soon be no gay kids left”.
Elements of the trans community needs to allow for rational, safe and open debates so people like thid dont transition when they dont actually have gender dysmorphia. Safe gaurding is the key to allow those who are the dignity and safety to do so. But also to prevent vulnerable people from doing so. Lets all the stop the hatred and anger and talk again.
"Lets all the stop the hatred and anger and talk again." - agree 100%. As a 58 year old male, I have for a long time watched and stayed out of any debate because, frankly, I do not suffer from gender dysmorphia and feel I have, or at least "had", little to offer, other than to support any individual's right to live the way they believe they were meant to live. Then about 6 months back a good friends niece who had surgically transitioned around the age of 18 from female to male, was in terrible turmoil and regretted their transition. Suddenly the trans issue - with all its complexities - was close to me and currently they are having intense counselling which will, I hope, help them resolve their crisis and decide whether to revert back to female or continue as male. More recently - a much more positive experience - was with my young (20s) neighbours who have a flat in the same house as me. I had known them as a traditional male/female couple but it became clear that the male had began transitioning to female. We were good friends as neighbours, so I felt confident enough to ask the question and to also say that I totally supported them and hoped I wasn't being invasive by bringing up the subject. I admit that, as an old fogey, I appreciated the opportunity to have a coffee with both of them and learn more about how "he" had been feeling and how they were progressing the transition. In their case - they as a couple - the two are doing great and I learned a lot about what being trans means to the individual and to their partner. She is not rushing into surgery but has begun hormone treatment and fortunately we live in a pretty cool town where they have been able to dress as they want without nasty comments or any threats. A happier young couple would be harder to find :) So... yes there needs to be more talk. There needs to be less anger on all sides. There also needs to be more research so that balanced, independent support can be provided to individuals seeking reassignment. The last thing we want are people making rushed or even pressurised decisions that can change their lives permanently. It's not about JK Rowling and what toilet someone uses. It's about real people and helping and understanding them as a society.
But we shouldn't still allow such things, now you can just send a letter to the gov saying you're female and you can go to the females bathroom, where are the rights to privacy for the biological women? @@martin-1965

Aside from the failures of the doctors. We have to realise this is likely an output from the way society is at the moment. People are so scared of being labeled "transphobic" that they'll go along with something because theyre not comfortable questioning things. I think the best way I've heard it described is "we're building the plane whilst we're flying it".
All that the hospitals and the doctors care about is the money, not the patient. Gender reassignment surgery brings in a lot of money, and afterward, they have a patient for life, because the patients require a lot of post-surgical care and maintenance.
Actually many of these clinics who perform the surgeries are exempt from lawsuits, although hopefully that will change. Be sure they've taken steps to cover their arses.

As I keep telling people and getting banned and blocked on fb for, simply saying that whoever goes thru this type of change is going thru deeeeep mental issues, that can be fixed or treated by getting the right help from therapy... It's that simple...

Grown people can be confused about stuff and have to see an EXPERT to sort it out, so how can you expect a kid to be better?

What do you expect them to say? Yes we where negligent? They will cover themselves it's an ongoing lawsuit. I'd be interested to hear their honest opinions but that's basically impossible.
Richie consistently faces his part in this, as much as anyone suffering trauma, mental health issues and undiagnosed ASD can consent. Affirmation approach to 'gender' questioning is seeing Drs ignore safeguarding and the fundamental tenet "First, do no harm". They are at fault, utterly and need to be brought to account.
The gender clinic spent over 3 years making sure my gender reassignment wasn't rooted in any mental health issues whatsoever. Anything problematic that showed up would have to be resolved before I would be referred for surgery. And I was over 30 years old when I began transitioning. I tend to believe younger people have not yet got the life experiences to make such a profound change.
@@girlinagalemay I ask when this was for you? Do you feel that currently people are given enough therapy? (Asking from a curious perspective, as I don’t have first hand experience).
@@Ciara-ASMR I feel that young people, under 25 years, haven't experienced enough "real world" to decide who they think they are. Nope. I don't have the "right" to request any surgery I want from a doctor. Especially if it would harm perfectly functional intact body parts. I don't have the "right" to amputate my left leg if it perfectly works, for example and doctors are forbidden from accepting that request.
This is why we do our research and trust your gut. At the end of the day, they are people whom we don’t know. Spread the word about this horrible surgery

Sadly, it's too late to lament after the fact and have things return to how nature intended. Those so-called experts have carried out their criminal butchery and interference with normal hormone levels. It should never be allowed, and those who have participated in this awful practice should be held to account. It's impossible to transition from one gender to another. It's common biological sense. The proper treatment is counseling. I hope this person learns to live with these dreadful events.
There are two issues here. The degree to which doctors abuse their authority when sounding more confident than they have a right to be, and the degree to which diagnoses of disorders adjugate your personal responsibility.
Because Ritchie was an adult and made the final decision to transition after two and a half years of therapy , Ritchie must take responsibility. He was offered the option of a discharge from the system but Ritchie made the final decision. It was Ritchie's choice. Ritchie must take responsibility for his choices... for his own mistakes. Yes, there is wisdom in hindsight but blaming those who fulfilled your decision will not solve your change of mind and realisation.... and regret. Safeguards? Even with more stringent safeguards or restrictions, we can be guaranteed there will always be individuals who will change their minds. It's human nature. There are countless reassigned individuals who are extremely happy with their results and living fulfilling lives. For the medical professionals... it's dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.
How did they push him? His mental issues pushed him. If they refused him the transition, he’d probably be crying and suing. Everybody always looking for someone to blame for their own stupidity
If you watch the video the doctors kept pushing him to do it. He kept saying no but finally caved. He was a minor and doctors are supposed to protect patients. I'm sure the ton of money they made off of the surgery had absolutely nothing to do with them pushing a minor into a permanent body-changing procedure. They also have their own agenda to push.
I say this in love: it is absolutely impossible for a male to become a woman and for a female to become a man. I know what it is like to experience gender confusion, and I'm thankful to God that I never sought hormones or surgeries. We will never be made whole if we live a lie. We need to accept the truth. The burning pain and emptiness in my soul never went away until I surrendered my life completely to Jesus Christ. I could trust Him because I know He is true, that He loves us, and wants what is best for us. We must repent from our sins and idols if we truly want to heal. The Holy Spirit can give us strength to overcome temptation. Jesus Christ is the only way we can be saved from our sins and reconciled with our holy Creator God. I can wholeheartedly say that the Holy Spirit has given me peace unlike anything this world can ever offer and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Please choose truth, agape love, peace, and joy over the fleeting things of this world. We can only find healing in Jesus.
Awesome you have a relationship with Jesus. Isn't he the greatest! I tell my kids to be careful with the saying "do what makes you happy". Happiness is very different than peace/joy. Choose peace over happiness❤❤❤
Well, to accuse doctors and psychologist after you chose to undergo a surgical procedure... it's kind of lame. No one put a gun against your head and forced you to get "mutilated". Good luck in the next life Richie.
Poor kid. Eloquent, intelligent and insightful. It just goes to show that, at that age; someone so self-possessed can be misled and influenced by partisan actors, in positions of "authority" or "mentorship". I remember my experiences when younger, of tolerating gay men's attempts to convince me that I was "completely gay"; whenever they learned (or sensed) that I had enjoyed non-heterosexual relationships in the past. Many non-heterosexual individuals consider it a victory to conquer a "non-gay" sexual partner. They take pride in fostering others upon any LGBT+ path; and they consider it a personal, social and political victory; to see others pass thresholds of non-heterosexuality. For example, a first gay experience; a coming out; a new gay experience (such as visiting a gay bar or sauna) and so on, are all considered *triumphs* by the "mentor" who introduces "newbies" "chickens" or others to these things. And of course transgenderism and gender reassignment are a real thrill, for partisan "mentors" involved in those processes. Of course, Gay and other LGBT+ individuals take political pride, in "standing their ground" and "promoting the cause"; which makes them *partisan* voices who "guide" those less aware and more vulnerable individuals into novel and unknown places! Gender identity and sexuality are choices that people should make INDEPENDENTLY, once FULLY AND OPENLY INFORMED; and once they POSSESS THE MATURITY AND KNOWLEDGE to decide for themselves, knowing what consequences may or may not be!
God bless you Ritchie. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope many hear you and are able to stand up and say NO and get the actual help they need. You are admired.
By the time a "transitioner" gets round to regretting what they've done, it's too late. The damage has been done, it can't be "put back" and you'll NEVER be as you once were.
By the time an actual transgender child without support and care takes their own life it's too late. The damage has been done. They can't be brought back to life.
This is not a child forced into something he was too young to understand. This is a grown man who sought out this particular kind of "therapy" and after 2 years made a decision. When people were poor and actually had to literally work for food and shelter and just to live; we didn't have time for this stupidity. JOBS, COMMUNITY SERVICE, VOLUNTEER do things to help others if your that rich and lazy.
The level of coverage this gets is absolutely hysterical and completely prevents any rational debate from taking place. Relative to other issues, the amount of people this impacts is minuscule.
Judge a society on how it treats its most vulnerable. The fact you think this is "absolutely hysterical" speaks towards whether you're even qualified to participate in a rational debate. You're have demonstrated you are entering that debate with hardened preconceived notions. Maybe better for you to think before you speak
This young person is still fooling themselves. Her life would not be any better today if she became a male by magic. Now she blames others for her mistake. Regrets? I have them myself. One of these is going back into the military and going to Iraq. If I was at home would of made my spouse go to hospital and thus not passing from cancer. Youngster take responsibility for your actions and discover the real reason for being unhappy. You can find a path forward away from your regret. People are using you for their own purpose, they are not your friends. Your future is ahead of you. make one and stop living in the past. One last thing, your unique future is calling you. Meet the future with confidence!
It's very easy to blame the doctors, but Ritchie and others who have regrets need to take responsibility for his/their own actions. No one forced him/them; they made the decision themselves! I am a medical professional and I have had a few males and females come to my office inquiring about and requesting to begin the transition process. Most have been middle age to older patients, with the oldest being in his 80s. Many are curious and want information but there are some, they tend to be younger (early twenties), who are adamant about what they want and demand, sometimes quite rudely, to start the process immediately without exploring the reasons for their decision. I never allow any patients to bulldoze over me. This process is permanent and these individuals need help processing and understanding their motives, the risks and the consequences of such a procedure. So, before they begin any hormone treatments through my office or through a specialist, they have to be seen by a psychologist for a few months. It's disappointing that these procedures are being performed in some cases with minimal discretion and it's sad that people seek out these services without truly understanding themselves or the consequences.
Bro no doctor forces you they don’t even let you transition till ur 16 and even then you have too be evaluated by therapists and they have too diagnose you with dysphoria then go too a few therapy sessions then start the process too medicate and if your a grown adult in your 20s then your accountable if your legally responsible for yourself then your accountable for your actions
The laws should be changed, this is a completely life changing surgery. They should be forced to wait 10 years for it, to be completely sure that's what they need. The people in the NHS are pro treatment, pro drugs and surgery, that is their world, the staff are brainwashed into thinking that it's the right option, when things go wrong, it's no one's fault but the patient's.
Forced to wait 10 years? Where did that number come from? Why not 20 years? Or 5? For someone with gender dysphoria that could be a death sentence due to suicide.
@@tireironmanIf you commit suicide because you couldn't get plastic surgery and drugs, then you have mental health issues that need to be treated first before being allowed to do all of that. Any doctor who allows you to medically transition in that state with death threats would be negligent. Besides you can just as easily change your clothes, hair and present the way you want. Drugs and surgery are not necessary.
I've been talking about these sorts of issues for several decades, ....since the first gender reassignment surgery in the late 1980's! Psychology and biology are NOT compatible areas of medicine. Even in the areas of depression, symptoms are treated before ascertaining the causes and dealing with those first! Medicine needs to remove reliance on drug therapies and find treatments for CAUSES, and symptoms will remove themselves! Gender issues are PURELY PSYCHOLOGICAL, and BUTCHERING people for shallow cosmetic reasons changes nothing for the patient, except leave them vulnerable to a litany of complications!
Yes, depression has nothing to do with chemicals in the brain, nothing biological about the brain's processes. The brain is all just magic, and sadness is just outside causes negatively impacting the magical concept of thought.
The 1980's you say? the first gender reassignment surgery goes back to the 1950's. There is the famous well known case of April Ashley who had the surgery in 1960.
As a parent I would insist on eliminating all other causes (OCD, ADHD and the others issues he mentioned) for the confusion he was experiencing, then take a good hard look at it again after. What harm could come from waiting to be sure, it is a un-reversible and life altering procedure and should be well thought out. I also wonder for example if someone feels like a girl in their heart why do they feel the need for such drastic measures (surgery and hormones). I guess what I am asking is what additional benefits come from surgery and hormones treatments and were those added benefits worth it?
What are those doctors trying to prove. It almost sounds like they put you through guilt trips and played on your fears to get you to give the answer they wanted. I don't think they even cared what you wanted. 😃😃👋👋♥♥
What should be resolved legally are the conditions (abuse) and the now acceptable psycholgical conditioning which convince these kids AND THEIR PARENTS that this aberrant thinking is acceptable. Cannot blame the doctors, they have been equally affected.
Why do I have a hard time accepting that she wasn't 100% responsible for her transformation. I'm not trying to be cruel but her story smells like blame
Of course he's blaming. He had serious other issues, and the trans activists (see below) refuse to accept the fact that there are co-morbidities, etc... He was backslapped into medical transition. The affirmative care model simply reinforces the gender dysphoria and refuses to challenge it. Ritchie's story is by no means unique. But detransitioners are not being heard, and those who do, tend to be quiet about their temporary dysphoria. I know a few.
From what I hear, many, for ever regret there are 10 people who do not look back. Everyone is free to do with our bodies what they please. Governments AND Churches need to stop trying to police our bodies.
While this young man regrets his transition, many transgendered individuals do not. Statistics do indicate a small percentage of those who transition regret the process due to misdiagnosis from unqualified or predatory medical professionals or other factors. However, I emphatically believe the regrets of the few does not speak for or shud not determine the fate of the many. There are more individuals who do not regret their transition n many others who await the opportunity to transition. I support all transgendered individuals, whether in body or mind, n hope they continue to have the option to legally transition. N when they do, that they are cared for by qualified, intuitive professionals n supported by parents n loved ones who are involved with the development of these children n adults so misdiagnosis can be prevented in the future. It's not just on the impersonal physician to make the decision -- it's the individual n those who know n love them best who help the individual make a fully informed choice to transition or not.
The bit for me in this whole case was when he took a family member l think it was his Mother to say he was having second thoughts and he was still manipulated to go ahead. Total disrespect. I think it is £600,000 per op they get. Maybe they had gambling or drug debt to pay.
Trans people are medical patients for life. They have to take the hormones for life. And so many of the surgeries have complications and need more surgery….and problems like Urinary tract infections, fistulas , problems urination or ability to control urination, so the trans person will be going to a doctor for a long time. And that means lots and lots of money form the medical system.
Thank you for airing this important information. Far too many children being fast tracked through this process without adequate checks & ballance. The young victim of medical negligence makes his case very well. Quite remarkable, considering what they did to him, when he went to them for help🤬
You spend months looking youtube videos, talking to friends and family. You go to a doctor and are pushing for the surgery, affirming that's really what you want to do. The doctor sees you as a patient and also sees the profit. If he tries to talk you out of it whcih would for him make you a waste of his time and lost profit. The patient would just go to a different doctor that tells them what they want to hear and do the surgery. These doctors don't convince you, you convince them that you want it done and tell them why. So you still expect them to say no. Probably some friends and family members tried to reason. Or you seen videos of people with regrets, and then they still go to the doctor and later complain they shouldn't have done it. No they don't listen, because they're blinded and feel misunderstood etc.
For every subject, there will be exceptions. The person highlighted here may or may not be one of those exceptions, and as a possible exception, it might be worthwhile to consider this story as having political interests with an agenda to say ALL reassignment cases are THIS. Remember there are exceptions, and some exceptions may be more common than others. Be careful not to over-generalize and lump every reassignment case into a "regretful" label. Everyone has their own stories, and not every person is the same. Please don't be tempted to group this story in as an example of ALL reassignments. Another thing to note, this may also have cultural complications coming out of UK's healthcare system where this may not be so much an issue with private care, or healthcare systems in other parts of the world.
Actually it's applicable for all cases in terms of how system works - not challenging child 's subjective assertions, being supportive instead of scientific.
Right and when ever your child says "Mommy I'm an angel". I'm sure you would get a surgery to attach wings to your child? F Off. You people have lost your minds. While I think that nobody should be allowed to have these gender surgeries, and that it could damage anyone at any age, you have to take some responsibility. You were 25….an adult, you made a choice and it was the wrong one. Own that. But yes, the people and the machine that pushed this on you, is disgusting and they share the lion’s share of the blame.
Surgeons and surgery departments get NHS grants to exist based upon the number of operations, if the surgery team does not do enough operations to meet the numbers, they either lose grants (loss of personnel/jobs) or even the surgery team shut down completely, this is why you hear constantly about pressure to operate this includes cancer diagnosis as a lot of operations are done when later biopsis done on the parts cut out/off are found not to be cancerous. This person was caught up in this type of pressure.
Are you trans!? If not you have no idea on the procedure you have to go through to have surgery, this person just made a bad decision but was not pushed, people think they are trans when they are not then blame the medical & other people when they realise they are not trans which then make it hard for real trans people to have their life saving procedures
They do push , the doctors want to move on to the next patient. It’s in their best interest to get the next victim going on hormones and ready for the chop shop.
Them doctors didn't chase you You was seeking it out you slander anyone who didn't cheer you on if they didn't cheer you on you would of got on the Internet and slander them calling them transphobic
Some believe they can become what they are in their spirit. Leave that in the Spirit. In the flesh not everything can be possible. We need to teach children again that , even deep, wishes, has to be heard. Spirits can also lure you inn into a horrific life. Time for the Bible back in school. Truth must be teached. Not this sorrow..over young people.
Prayers centainly have solved a Lot in this world.

These so-called doctors need to be held accountable and the laws changed!
Actually, the medical oath mentioned non-maleficence, which is an obligation not to inflict harm. Therefore, doctors who mutilate the youth can be sued.
You’ve only heard one side of this story. Yet you’re already basing conclusions. Shame.
@@MauriceKolen The shame is on the doctors. Any serious doctor would not mutilate someone who is having mental issues. Doctors are not meant to mutilate a healthy body.

@beatricerefievna6487 you are right. Doctors don't push this on anyone and actually recommend against it.
I have been through it myself
Richie, you're a very brave and remarkable person, and yes, you should have been safeguarded, not pushed down this road. I wish you all the best for the future.
Uhuh. The question is, how and when have they lied?
Surgery or discharge?! That should be criminal. What in the world is that type of policy???!!!
Probably the result of a very long waiting list.
He was 25, every mistake he tooks is his OWN FAULT
Under no circumstances should medical personnel be *pressuring* patients into going along with either hormonal or surgical treatments. There's a difference between making it available and pushing it.
I worry about the rising number of young autistic adults, often same sex attracted, with histories of complex emotional trauma we are seeing who are now self identifying as trans. Its fine when the person just wants to live as opposite sex, but I question hormones therapy and surgery for people while they continue to experience serious comorbid mental health issues other than gender dysphoria
In the future they will stop their meds, they need to think a head before they do anything. Times are going to be harder in the near future.
@Flier It’s so sad, being set up for a fall.
I feel sorry for these people. This mental illness is not something I would wish on anyone.
most of the time it betters their mental health even knee replacement surgery has a higher regret rate

And if the docs refused to do surgery they'd be sued for discrimination. Ultimately it's your body....choose wisely.

Sadly enough most if not all mental health professionals push transgenderism now
It should be law that you have to wait until after the brain is fully developed… in your mid/late 20s. All these people keep ignoring the importance of that!
Um no 😊😊😊
@GrannysGamingWonderland - Um, Yes.
The fact that they are pushing it on children that are not old enough to drive, drink, join the military, etc., etc., should be reason enough to make them wait until adulthood, especially when it comes to something of this magnitude.
Schools now teach elementary age children this garbage when they're not even old enough to understand what it is - that's called "Grooming."
If a child does not learn to love who they are, they will want to be someone else.
The procedures should be illegal, there's your protection.
Very much agree
it makes sense that the medical system wants people to have this kind of surgery because the patient often has to come back, and sometimes be on meds for life. it's just for money. the more people get surgery, the more money the medical system makes.
This young adult is quite clear that this decision is not about age - it is about the ‘state of mind’ the person is in: he was in therapy, in a vulnerable, ‘help-me manage my issues’ situation. Their goal was to convince and gain practical experience on this young person.
How dare they.
👏
Vulnerable people deserve safeguards and information before decisions
I'm so glad you mentioned undiagnosed autism, autism does seem to go with body dysphoria
So what?
@@taliaperkins1389so… body dysmorphia does not equal gender dysphoria. A lot of autistic people suffer from body dysmorphia, but mistake it for gender dysphoria. Can result in autistic people transitioning when gender dysphoria is not actually the underlying issue.
@@prescottperfection6354 how does one mistake one for the other? Doesn't make sense at all
@@UwUImTheo I don’t see what’s confusing about it.
@@prescottperfection6354 okay than what's the difference between the two?
Before “gender affirming care” became the standard, Thomas.D Steensma et al 2013 found that only 37% of childhood gender dysphoria persisted into adulthood hood, 63% did not. Across all studies only 2-27% of children continue to report gender dysphoria. Collectively, follow-up studies show the majority of children (84.2%) desist.
All those children who would have desisted are now affirmed, leading them down a pathway to surgery and lifelong meditation.
i mean…. gender dysphoria by definition is so broad
She found all of this out in her 20s. She was not a child. So that doesn't apply here.
A happier young couple would be harder to find :)
So... yes there needs to be more talk.
It's a mental illness, so sad. I feel sorry for they/them. It must be horrible to believe you have the wrong body. Nightmare.

Yes, there is wisdom in hindsight but blaming those who fulfilled your decision will not solve your change of mind and realisation.... and regret.

Thank you for your courage and speaking out.
What are they doing to these beautiful children? This is sickening. We must pray for these people. There is going to be a lot of lawsuits.
I hope there will be alot of law suits for this which at the moment is legal buttchery
God bless you Ritchie. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope many hear you and are able to stand up and say NO and get the actual help they need. You are admired.

Couldn't agree more.

Waiting patiently for your credentials otherwise your just another know it all with opinions.
You're about seventy years off for the first gender reassignment surgery too.
A handsome young man who has had his life ruined. The internalised transphobia professional medical comment & nudge to surgery is shocking.
Its not SURGERY
its MUTILATION 😢💔😔
I don't really care what you call it, all that matters to me is how happy and confident I've been since I've had it.

it’s.. your choice… you wanted to transition
It's a choice with a pretty long waiting list, and gatekeeping too. But people with always take the chance to write off a mistake to someone else.
What he means when he says age doesn't matter when making decisions. But man you leant the hardest way.
I know a few.
this comments smells like blame shifting and victim blaming. the society needs a lot of fixing
What was his gender at birth? I am confused in this situation.
but you went to the medical professionals, they didnt come looking for you. Just sayin
For every person who changes their mind, how many are happy with their new tackle?
Hard to really know as the medical "professionals" don't seem to have kept accurate follow up records. Anywhere!
From what I hear, many, for ever regret there are 10 people who do not look back. Everyone is free to do with our bodies what they please. Governments AND Churches need to stop trying to police our bodies.
Post transitioners have a 48% suicide rate so that should give you an idea
I find you to be very brave and dignified to be so honest about such a sensitive issue, my dear. I wish you well.
Extreme therapy needed before any treatment. Years of therapy
Only one question.
How could his parents allow this?
He was an adult. How could they stop him?
He was 27 when he had the surgery.
All I hear is a man unable to take accountability for his own actions.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Don't blame the doctors. Yall talk about them when they don't do it and talk about it when you regret YPUR decisiom
You don't know a damn about undiagnosed autism.
Very lengthy way of basically denying his and others experiences
What was the assigned gender at birth? And what is the gender of this person now? I am somewhat confused in this case.
His name is Richie Herron. Goggle him, you will find his story.
@@mummablue3107 what a nightmare and there is no going back. I guess he has no gender now.
You have NO IDEA how hard it is to access trans healthcare in the UK
If no surgeries go ahead- is that fair? WE ARE ALL VULNERABLE
The fact that children are being listened to like this is disgusting. Let children grow up without YOU people forcing your politics on them. And yes, you are forcing your politics on them. Your job as a f**** parent isn't to go along with everything your child says. Let them become adults, and then they can be whatever tf they want to be.
You seem to have glossed over the part this person said people are attempting to silence their voices which is true and some are trying this in the comments section. There have also been studies showing that post surgery mental health issues havent improved for those who go for it. This is a person who was coerced into surgery by people they trusted and like a majority of those with GID they are autistic. Its obvious some people do not want to find out the answer to the question how many kids lives have been made worse by these interventions.
The detrans subreddit has nearly 48 000 members. I suggest you read some of their stories. It is obvious that there is medical malpractise. How many should there be before it is enough to be taken seriously?
@@harryhill8543 - in case you missed it, the comments section on the internet under any video doesn't matter in the real world.
I'm not changing anything by making comments on a youtube video, and niether are you.
Videos like the above, however, can be used as anti-LGBTQ+ political ammunition (see one of their very own is against them!) and that's dangerous.
Go Ritchie! We support you
Publicity and clicks certainly have an impact on what and how people decide to say - better blame others for your own mistakes. I'm waiting for Putin to blame Ukraine. Oh, he already does.
I have manic depression and I was diagnosed by a consultant psychiatrist and I didn't know what was wrong with me. Is there any medical tests that can work out a person is transgender other than a person word for it.
Where is the space for afeminate males and masculine females? Gender realignment can be a bowing down to old fashioned notions of gender norms in itself.
what's so old fashioned about gender norms? they reflect biological realities
I get what you are saying. People being forced into old fashioned restricted stereotypes which could lead them to transition in order to fit in.
Many won’t get the opportunity to regret because SOME people change their minds! 😢😢gender assignment is complicated
You mean to tell me that performing irreversible surgical procedures on children isn't the new cool hipster thing to do? SHOCKING 😂
Saying yes for 2.5 years and all that attention was just to much to say no?
It's like a drug addict blaming everyone but themselves.
Very misleading
While I think that nobody should be allowed to have these gender surgeries, and that it could damage anyone at any age, you have to take some responsibility. You were 25….an adult, you made a choice and it was the wrong one. Own that. But yes, the people and the machine that pushed this on you, is disgusting and they share the lion’s share of the blame.
I hope the doctor can answer to God for destroying this boy life ❤❤❤
Hope so too, if God ever asks a question, pretty silent dude isn't he?
@@MilaOfTheSwamplove your pfp btw
Surgeons and surgery departments get NHS grants to exist based upon the number of operations, if the surgery team does not do enough operations to meet the numbers, they either lose grants (loss of personnel/jobs) or even the surgery team shut down completely, this is why you hear constantly about pressure to operate this includes cancer diagnosis as a lot of operations are done when later biopsis done on the parts cut out/off are found not to be cancerous. This person was caught up in this type of pressure.
it's a bit late now.
No one pushed you !!
You weren’t there you don’t know !!
Them doctors didn't chase you
You was seeking it out you slander anyone who didn't cheer you on if they didn't cheer you on you would of got on the Internet and slander them calling them transphobic
To be fair Richie name some names ? In my opinion it takes a pretty messed up surgeon to actually carry out this operation
