Jonesy's wife said ,call him ! The rest is history ! JPJ said when they figured out a tune to play ,train kept rolling ,the room just exploded ! It was the greatest thing EVER !

Plant at 19/20. Geez there must be videos/tapes of him at a younger age. When did this voice start? you cannot teach or learn this. I saw him in 2019 almost 70 years old - he did not have the deep voice but the classic ting he always had and with depth. Greatest voice range of all time. And people forget, he wrote a lot of the lyrics in the Zep songs. He always tried to progress, but difficult after the Zep years.
I heard the Buffalo Springfield cover and thought, wow, yeah Robert Plant sure had the voice even before Zeppelin, and Bonham's drumming, although powerful, obviously wasn't recorded as well as in Zep's recordings -- but hearing this track, I'm wondering -- why didn't this band get signed? I mean, I'm glad they didn't, in a way, because Page found Plant and Bonham and music history was made, but where were the A&R people? This is a terrific rendition, and Plant was extraordinary. One would think any A&R person would have heard dollar signs. Oh well. Their loss, the world's gain.
I think you have to be producing your own original and good music to get signed. However good cover versions are they are not seen as the basis for a career, although, in the beginning LZ nearly proved that notion wrong.

That voice is the voice of a God. Many have come to challenge. Chris Cornell, Layne Staley. Many other elite rock vocalists.None could reach that early Robert voice. It is a shame he lost it. Its one of the main reasons zep never reunited....no matter what he says. To be reminded nightly or 3 times a week what you can no longer do is depressing. No one could compete with Plants voice up to 72....including an older Robert Plant. The power, the tone, the passion reaches into your soul. There will never be another. I can just imagine Jimmy listening to him for the first time and understand why he thought something had to be wrong with his personality.

Absolutely right. Robert Plant was undoubtedly extremely insecure around the time 1972-1973 where his voice just started going out and he couldn’t sing the same stuff anymore. Probably a major reason he aged so fast lol. It must’ve been hard to go on stage and perform when people were still expecting to hear the guy from Led Zeppelin II or Led Zeppelin IV.
I am very glad that I lived at the same time as Roger Anthony Plant and plunged headlong into his creative talent (people who lived at the same time as Bach and Vivaldi were unlucky; only a few knew them, then there were no cassettes, discs, or DVDs)!!!! !!
I give thanks that i have memories of those times and those wonderful musical exponents. Music like this has a beautiful resonance and authentic gravitas. in short it's just far out-thank you.

True to an extent, it there is still great talent out there these days, however the notion of how society viewed music in the heady 60’s was quite different than today....the accessibility to music has created so much more opportunity for musicians today if not though diffusing the pure quality of genius or virtuosity.......fabuloscious version of this track.
