I like your videos a lot but this one is the best video on this channel. These little things make the game much more enjoyable for everybody. Thank you!
Also, if you queue as tank, slot a taunt and use it. Everyone has access to Inner Fire. Many base game dungeons can be done without a full tank spec, but having the boss stay in one place makes so many things so much easier. And that's your responsibility in the tank role.
Great vid. If we all could play by these rules it would make the experience so much better. Pugs are hit and miss for sure. Ive found that its the ones who want to be meta but arent are the ones who break these common courtesy rules. Good luck out there.
Been grinding Arx Corinium as tank for DPS gear. Seen all kinds of groups. Some real nice, some assholes. Some fast, some where the DPS have no idea what they're doing. I learned some things from this video. Thanks.
I'd also add: for the love of god, please DON'T use certain abilities such as knockbacks (such as destructive clench) or troll ones such as frozen gate (especially putting icy escape on the tank) if you are a DD or a healer. DDs, don't run around like headless chickens, stay together on the boss's ass. DDs, it's your job to res, not the healer's. DDs and healer, when the tank pulls trashpacks, he may run ahead and pull several of them; don't stop at the first one and attack it because you will get the aggro, simply follow the tank until he stops and everything is nicely stacked, then go full ham. Don't just stand and watch while the boss channels something, everyone can (and should) interrupt. Better several people trying to interrupt than nobody.
Easily the best and funniest video I’ve seen lol. Mostly bcuz, as a tank, I agree with ALL your points lmao…so true. I let ppl die when they pull lmao 😂
Nothing will ever beat the time when I queued in for Veteran White Gold Tower and the healer decided that he had to run ahead of everything instead of healing and buffing the group. He died 5 times throughout the entire thing and he had to ask someone for soul gems because he didn’t have any on him. He was level CP 1000+, mind you, so idk why he came into a vet dungeon unprepared. I ended up leaving during the fight with Molag Kena because he was only healing himself and an hour had already passed. I regret staying in there for as long as I did.
if you run ahead and agro the boss, I'm not going to taunt it and you are going to die. best statement ever, I spend a decent amout of time watching turbo speed dps feeding the mobs with their corpse.
Well said. It's insane how many people do not seems to understand the fact that this is an MMO. There are tons of single player games, if this doesn't work for you.
omg the god damn PTSD of VoM quest...I was clearing it on a new tank and the one DPS was speedrunning it leaving us in the dust and our group leader had DCed and the leadership was passed to him....it was awful we barely made it to the final boss at 1% hp to get our quest clear. I think it'd be easier at this point if ZOS just made a quick pass at these dungeon quests to make them more bearable on repeats. edit: Yeah I feel that "play content that matches your skill level". I was afraid for a long time to go into vet DLC dungeons as a tank, not just for myself but from how I am terribly unlucky in general with who I get paired with from 10 years of Monster Hunter. I actually am not that unlucky in ESO it turns out. But sometimes I get a group like that one vet Banished Cells 1 with 13k DPS......for the group (I was setup purely to provide buffs, not deal support damage).
I came across a tank (900 cp) in a normal dlc dungeon that taunted well and didn't die, but nothing else. Claimed light attacking was boring as it was too low dps to make a difference. I asked if they have a destruction staff on their back bar and they got upset at me. Am I expecting too much, or is it reasonable to expect some group utility from higher cp tanks?
I think you absolutely should expect more utility from tanks above like 300 CP and up. Tanking in ESO is so much more than taunting and surviving - they are the bare minimum IMO.
CP says nothing about your experience. I know a lot high CP players that barely do any group content. Especially in normal dungeon, you shouldnt expect anything in my opinion.
Its a normal dungeon.. I dont think group utility even matters in normal dungeons. If this was vet hm I would see your point more. Also 900 cp is not high cp. Its actually rather low.
Unless it's different in newer dungeons or something, you definitely get more than 2 chests per dungeon. That said, everyone can loot them, not just the opener, so definitely call them out.
You would think these would be common sense, but common sense is a rare thing these days. At least slot a taunt (Inner Fire) so you're capable of keeping things a little organised at least. It's incredibly disrespectful against other damage dealers that you queue instantly while they need to wait.

I personally don't see anything wrong with dds running ahead of a slow ass tank that decides to take a stroll and never ever press sprint button in a vanilla dungeon, and playing both roles about equally, I know it's now that resource demanding for a tank to keep up with the most Sanic dds. Nor is there any problem with dds starting a fight ahead of tank if they're well able to see it through, since about 3/4 of vet content in this game can get soloed if you're skilled enough (it's cringe when they pull and die though). As for waiting for tank so that he could do some crowd control magic and make things faster in the long run: that's only true if he does know how to crowd control and isn't a fake one to begin with, so no point in waiting for a guy whose only contribution is wearing 7 pieces of heavy armor, pressing taunt and standing there blocking rest of the time
@@corruptparagon now imagine the taunt costing 1350 stamina and total damage mitigation this patch being so damn high you only really need to block vet dlc bosses, oh my, wherever could one hope to find enough resources to sprint indeed? *Also, Igneous shield still exists and still restores 1k stam upon use. If it's a "fake tank", they will 99% of the time not be wearing heavy armour. If they're wearing heavy armour and a shield and all that stuff and still not group adds and stand there permablocking, chances are that they're new to the role. You don't help anyone by sprinting ahead in that case either. First complaining about tanks that only taunt and block, and then literally saying that the tank only needs the stam for the taunt and nothing else (not even block), seems quite hypocritical to me, tbh. It's also not just the tank. If the group doesn't sprint through the dungeon, don't do it either. If you sprint ahead, slot a taunt and tank. It's a group effort. You want your precious 10 crystals, play as a group. That's the trade-off.
@@varana uh-h... I never stated tanks need all their stam to just taunt and permablock, the other guy did and I replied with sarcasm? And of course, as you have said, the group should move at around the same pace, which implies tank not being a slow ass stroller, making the other 3 people wait for him to make it to the next encounter.
It's either everyone's a Sanic or everyone making a stroll for dungeon experience to be polite for everyone
@@Meme_Sage "now imagine the taunt costing 1350 stamina and total damage mitigation this patch being so damn high you only really need to block vet dlc bosses, oh my, wherever could one hope to find enough resources to sprint indeed?"
That was you, I think?
