To put it simply I want to know how to calculate the odds of winning when you have to pick combination of two 2 digit numbers (from 0 to 99) like 01 78, 88 76, 13 13 etc..here repetition is allowed...im not good at math so im having grasping this "order" thing .
Here the order matters cuz 88 76 and 76 88 are two distinct (say winning number combinations) but the order won't matter for number combination with same digits such as 00 00, 66 66 etc.. so how do I remove the combinations of numbers like that and calculate the exact odds and probability of winning??

A factorial is just a symbol used in mathematics. It is the ! or exclamation mark. If I had 4!, then I would multiply 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 or if I had 6! I would multiply 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1

divide the probability of the first 6 numbers (total) by the possibility of the 7th number.
so if you only picked 6 numbers and it was 15,000,000/1. then divide that by the possibility of a 7th number on its own. eg. 1/43. so its actually much better odds. (I'm drunk... please double check what I've said)

kind of, but not for you.... instead of 1 in eg. 20,000,000, its 2 in 20,000,000. this is not the same as 1 in 10, 000,000

Hi. Can someone please help. Let's say you chose 2 numbers from 6 balls. When I use your formula for e.g. P (3,2), I get 1:15, when I write out all the possible combinations I get 1:36.

i know some guy who asked this.. why are the chances of winning the lottery in the millions. when really if you only had to choose 1 number from a set of 49 numbers your chances of getting that number right are 1 in 49, so after that seeing that numbers don't show up twice your chances of getting that second number is 1 in 48, then 1 in 47 for the 3rd then 1 in 46 for the fourth. so technically the chances of winning the lottery should be one in 49+48+47+46+45+44 which is 279...

But I have one doubt, I tried to look the problem in a more practical way, and I believe that we need to use the permutation formula to solve this problem, because lets say that the winner number is: 123456, but if you have the ticket 654321, you are not the winner, but with combinations both numbers are the same. If I'm not mistaken a lottery machine would read 654321 as 123456.
In lottery combination is enough to win, if you got same arrangement (permutation) then it has same value of winning on a ramble combination of the result.
Odds of winning doesn't help. You need software and statistical filters to reduce the amount of combinations! Without a powerful hard and software not much chances. Think about nowadays machines doing calculus/mining for bitcoins from blockchains..
