    Steve was an amazing Erik and an even better Raoul. If it wasn't for him, the show would have had to cancel for about a month while Crawford was in recovery . He has an amazing baritone voice, no one can beat it. Definitely one of my favorite Phantoms.
    Steve, you are greatly misses by Phantom of the Opera Phans across the world. You're one of the most attractive men to ever live. You're singing never ceases to make me cry. You're voice is to deep and gentle for me not to cry when I hear Music Of The Night, All I ask Of You, All I Ask Of You Reprise, Die Unstillbare Gier, and Gott Ist Tot. You are the greatest Baritone of all time. If I could go back in time and stop you from killing yourself I would. I'm so sorry for what you must have went through. I love you Steve Barton, Erik Destler, Raoul Vicomte De Changy.
    Steve, you're the true Vicomte.
    STEVE BARTON
    1954-2001
    RIP
    Fly high in heaven and never stop singing in the clouds❤️🕊

      @@gloriabarberi1292 agreed. I feel awful for everything he must have went through, especially with his European fame, that still brought him to kill himself. It's like the saddest thing ever, if only his life would have been a little different, then maybe he still would be here to share his gift with the world.

    I mean no disrespect to other performers who are brilliant in their own respects, but it's nice to hear a Phantom who can actually phonate through the full two octaves of this song.

    I love the fact that Barton absolutely nails all three of my favorite male musical theater roles: Graf von Krolock, Raoul, and the Phantom! The man is truly unmatched on so many levels! (Note: being unmatched does not in anyway degrade the younger generations, it simply means the performance he delivers is personally my favorite and the uniqueness in his voice cannot be replicated)

      Try Cats Raimund theatre 1984 and see if you can hear him. I discovered almost 20 years later why TOTV sounded so save and familiar.....I was 4 when I heard him the first time and he always had this soft but strong vibrato......turning from velvet to a volcano within a 16 th note.....

    I went to school with Steve at C.O. Wilson Middle School in Nederland, Texas. Even then he was a fabulous talent -- and a very nice boy. He was always kind and generous, and I loved him. My heart was broken to learn of his struggles and his untimely death. I hope he will never be forgotten.

      What a beautiful and heart warming thing to say Jasminne. Steve Barton might be the most manly voice to ever grace this earth. He must have been larger than life in his heart. It is my belief he will touch people once again in the near future.

    He just went from baritone to a tenor. We all have our gifts besides high notes are much rougher on your voice than low ones, bass sounds in themself are also not as damaging to your ears as high pitced treble that blasts through a speaker. The audio quality is not the best either now if this had been digitally remastered that high note would have been more prominent but i heard that high note weaving in and out which suggests that the microphone was not picking up the treble is in his voice. Seriously that last note sounded like what happened to my $30 microphone, it would pick up wonderful note but then at the end it would cut off to where my voice sounded far away and then my voice would come back on louder, creating this cheap wave effect. Gerard Butler couldn't sing all that well and you could tell those high notes were a struggle. They were very strained and since he wasn't a professional singer, you could tell they had looped that last note at the end of the song, so it sounded like he could hold that note for that long. Its funny they simply turned up the orchestra music so as to disguise this cheap trick. I've heard him hit high notes before but he's not a natural tenor like Michael Crawford.
    Micheal has had so much more experience as a opera singer and a stage performer.
    Whats sad is Steve is no longer with us as he passed away in 2001.
    RIP Steve Barton.
    We love you and we will always love you. Goodnight sweet Roaul, Goodnight sweet Eric.

      Listen to Henk Poorts Phantom, he's a baritone as well and blew away those high notes that even Bocelli thought he was a tenor, and when he told him that he is about to play the baritone in Mac Beath, he was shocked.

    • @joaquimcevallosmorales8944
      @joaquimcevallosmorales8944 3 роки тому

      @@blackblossomjojo4599 It's simply not possible to sing a bass-baritone role being a tenor. Maybe a dramatic tenor, but would not be the same. Anyway, musical theatre, with voice amplification, has little to do with lyric singing - very hard to compare. I would not quote Bocelli as a qualified tenor voice expert, though.
      Thanks for the name, will have a check as I never heard of him.

    • @blackblossomjojo4599

      @@joaquimcevallosmorales8944 Henk Poort is an trained opera singer that also did musical theatre and has a very well developed high register for a baritone that is capable of singing resonant bass notes ^^
      He played in like 30 operas all over Europe.
      I didn't mean to quote Bocelli as tenor expert, just wanted to tell this little funny story about Henk Poort meeting Bocelli that was surprised by how well developed his high register is for a baritone.

      @UCIxSDLZZCc60tm2CFybBRdQ I just listened - yes, baritone in colour, no doubt. He has got a bit of a wobble, which can be related to age and some rocky pushing. It's still pleasing to listen to.
      Videos in YT only show the duet, which I think is transposed, at least 1 tone down. He goes nothing above an E, so definitely his notes are well within the baritone range.
      This is why I said I don't trust Bocelli's ear.

    • @blackblossomjojo4599
      @blackblossomjojo4599 3 роки тому

      @@joaquimcevallosmorales8944 You listened to the wrong videos xD
      He's not popular due to that Beste Zangers Show.
      He played the Phantom in the Netherlands in the 90s for 2 years I guess^^
      Listen to his Music of the Night.
      Also saw him live in the German opera. That is were I got to know him.
      And there's also a clip from that show where he sings a version of The Sound of Silence where he sings a very very powerful a' and E in the same song, I think the a' is a m1 mix but anyways, impressive for a 65-year old baritone.
      (Even though that doesn't change anything because it's still baritone range, but I think the highest note in the duet with Floor Jansen is a f')
