I have several fixed blades and I carry the differently. I like that “static cord’ method a lot and nobody ever brings it up... probably the most versatile way to carry a fixed blade is to tie the sheath to a piece of string that you can adjust the length and tie it to a belt loop. As you deploy the knife the sheath is stopped by the string for one handed deployment and the sheath is left tethered where it’s easy to get to as you return the blade. But this also allows you to comfortably carry small fixed blades in your pocket or inside your waist fairly comfortably. Another cool way to carry Bowie knives is to just tuck the sheath inside your waist to where the tip it just below your right back pocket... sounds crazy but it’s a lot mor comfortably than having it outside the the waist and you can get to it pretty fast and the sheath without a static cord is just fine. I haven’t seen anyone rock a shoulder holster style sheath. That could be cool.
Another advantage to a static cord is that when I’m sitting in a car I often set my knife in sheath on my lap where it is incredibly easy to get to and it’s tied to me so It won’t swim around and I still get one handed open. That guy in the Salmon shirt should consider that his knife is also a shield and when you choose the reverse grip you lose all of your reach and with that being his non dominant hand he’s likely to lose that knife in a fight. Just like I would set down my pistol to pick up my rifle I think a knife comes first. It is faster to draw than a firearm and more effective within 10ft than a firearm. If they are further than 10ft then you have time to draw your pistol. I would say it takes me two or three seconds to draw my pistol and aim. And less than a second to draw my knife... one or two extra seconds within ten feet would be a game changer. And you can get a knife anywhere and take it anywhere and discard it if you need to.
I usually carry a folding ones when i think i aint gonna need a fixed blade. But when i do carry a fixed ones. I like it in my 5 o’clock since it’s not visible outside even when I’m wearing a relatively smaller shirts.
As a girl 😆. When camping I use a neck sheath. But every day I sewed a easy access into the inside of my purse. A little wide elastic and a bit of Velcro. On my get home/ EDC bag it’s strapped and fixed next to my outside water bottle pouch.
In my get home/EDC bag I have a Mora Garberg. And in my purse I have a Mora with the fire steel. I think it’s the bushcraft one. It’s been awhile since I bought it. I also have a bench made folding knife
I carry mine on my left side similar to the first gentleman but with the handle going the opposite direction so that it draws ready to use. Without switching hands or it being backwards. In a defensive situation, if I drew that knife it is because I cannot reach my gun for some reason. This means that more than likely my right hand is inoperable or tied up doing something else to keep me alive.
Mr Matt and I carry the same style for the same reason . knife on the left and side arm on the right. I agree with everything he said. Great video guys keepum going.....
All 3 ways have their benefits and drawbacks. Left side, back up weapon mentality. Right side, primary weapon mentality. Appendix, utility/tool mentality.
Scout carry is my choice, because I carry my gun OWB at my 3 o'clock. But I carry mine with the handle angled upward a little. That's most comfortable and practical for me.
my daily carry is a small necker, ( Folts Minimalist) because if I need it, it is fast and easy to get. when I am in the woods, I carry a 4-6" belt knife, and I carry it just forward of center on my right hip. where I lie, it is legal to carry any length of fixed blade, as long as it is not concealed. so I make sure when I have one on my belt to have it where it can be seen.
I'd be interested to know what the attachment system is for horizontal carry. Looks like a simple leather loop.... with a snap or what? Wish you could have shown that.
they look like they are using an Armatus carry architect sheath with the elastic band that comes with, I could be wrong but thats what it seems like it is.
Typically, I’ll carry IWB in the back, right of center (at a 30 degree angle +/-) I edc either a TOPS Brakimo, or Prather War Bowie. If I have no jacket, or if my shirt is tucked in, I’ll carry it iwb straight up on the right side, edge forward (the bowie in a Panther Concealment Sheath).
Which carry is best if you have to go hands on? BJJ specifically. Working your "ground game". ? I just bought a S&W M&P dagger. I'm trying to figure out to attach with velcro on the inside of a coat.
I’d like to seen a description of y’all’s blades and why! Came here from Another channel. Appreciate y’all time though and what are thoughts on neck blades? I’m not to sure about them? Thanks
I don't know how to ask this, long story short, my dad wasn't able to raise me and I heritate a big knive he used to use, my mom gave it to me recently (I'm 18 years) but I don't know how to use it, it has a small curve at the beginning and it is a 35cm (14inches) knive, could you make a guide for someone who didn't have a dad? I do not even know what or what cannot be done with it, I know he was in the military but he grew up on a farm, I know it is of high quality as is still super sharped. I've been searching throughout UA-cam and I haven't found anything. Thanks for any help!
Man that is tough! Unfortunately that is the case with too many young men like yourself. My recommendation would be to seek out competent, strong, kind and tough as nails men in your community and learn as much as you can from them. Be humble, grateful and willing to learn and that will go a long way. As far as how to use a knife, nothing beats hands on instruction and practice. Hope this helps!
A question are those knives considered consealed carry because they are covered with the shirt ??? In florida i can open carry any knife, how can i carry without looking like a psycho?? Rite now im limited to carrying a spew neck knife... help!
Haha I grew up in Florida. Just carry what you want to carry. Everyone in Florida is crazy anyway. At least everyone else already thinks that. And yes... Under a shirt would be considered concealed. That goes for anywhere. Because it is. If you cant see it it is literally conceal. Even if you just have your shirt over Tim the only way this is an issue is with larger knives. It's easy to think that because its sticking halfway out from under your shirt, it's not concealed. But it is. In which case you need a permit. This is why a lot of eastern US states allow for larger knife carry without a permit. But you have to make sure it is totally out in the open. Then you have to be concerned about idiot cops who don't know their local laws well enough nor the differences between types of knives. So know you local laws, which is very difficult(unclear) with knives, and carry at your own discretion.
I keep my fixed blade or pocket knife on my left side. That way if someone is trying to take my handgun out of my right hand I can use my left hand to defend with my blade.
People complain about how hard it is to put a fixed blade away or how much of a hassle having to lift a shirt or whatever. It doesn't matter how long it takes to put away, it is more important on how fast and easy it is to get it into your hand for use.
It's not the tusk man. The TUSK is a karambit. Although I did see a knife recently...a straight knife which also had the name TUSK. I couldn't find anything on it, and it definitely seemed to have no relation to the TUSK karambit.

Ehhhhh, i prefer my local smith to cold steel. I can get knives that fit me and my needs a little better. I get a discount because i work on his truck for him, and only charge parts, no matter the job. Otherwise local smiths can be a bit pricey

"Scout" carry is horizontal behind the back. Offhand draw is probably best
the sasuke way
If it’s your general purpose utility knife, what is the problem with just carrying it in a pocket?
Its too big?
What if you wear suspenders?
What knife are you carrying
