I was in high school back then living in Lakeside, and my family and friends would make the trip up to the mall since it was indoor and had so many indoor trendy and speciality stores like Bennetton or Sun Diego. My friends and I loved it as a place to meet new girls from other high schools and go on dates or parties. As far as cool stores for my friends and I back then, it was UTC, Fashion Valley, Mission Beach, and some different used levi places around the county. One used levi and jeans place that was really good was across from SDSU by the Jack In The Box.
This mall was such a part of my childhood. Hot summer days spent in the inside air conditioned mall. Visiting Sbarro pizza, Robinsons May, the museum store, the classic Disney store, Sam goody… late 80s bliss so sad that those days are long gone. 😢
Neat video. I was 9 years old when this opened. We lived in PQ and before this, mom would drive to UTC or Mission Valley. Great memories though, got my first real job as teen there. 👍 Thanks for uploading!
Department stores that existed at the North County Fair Mall: - J.W. Robinson's (0:06) (later became Robinsons-May North (Men's/Children's/Home store) in 1993, now H&M, Forever 21, Old Navy, and 24 Hour Fitness) - Sears (1:40) (now closed since September 2020) - The Broadway (1:55) (now Macy's since 1996) - May Company (not pictured) (later became Robinsons-May South (Women's store) in 1993, now Target) - Nordstrom (not pictured) (now closed since June 2020)

I was 17,and living in Temecula,this was the “cool” place to be.👌
In the 90s, it was bustling and full of life, now it’s a graveyard.

@@cripple7 The interior of North County Fair Mall's Broadway store might basically look the same, as it's currently operating as Macy's since 1996.
it still had that lodge look up through 2004 when i was there… those flags dated it quickly !!
