I was very sheltered growing up. So, once I turned thirteen, I went through all the VHS tapes we had that were PG13 or R. The one I specifically wanted to watch was, "The Ring." Because of how my sister's told me there reaction to it. Which was throwing there tv in the hallway and sleeping together with the lights on. I wanted to prove it wouldn't effect me. So, home alone I watched it in the dark on my bed. Once it was over, I told myself it wasn't a big deal. I went to grab the remote and accidentally dropped it. As I reached over my bed for it, the remote hit a button on impact. Where it went to the station with static. Like in the movie. I froze with my arm outstretched for the remote. Slow motion, I looked sideways at the TV. Then up at my alarm clock. 10:00 PM. Then a sound outside my window. I stayed in that position a good minute and took a deep breath. Counted to three and grabbed the remote. Turned the TV off and bolted under the blankets. I will say, I didn't get a phone call.

The girl was the daughter of a rape and murder victim that tried to drown her in a fountain, then she was abused by her foster parents, who ended up murdering her, there's few things more fucked up than that.

Had an experience with The Ring as well lmao.
I was sitting on my computer, i was maybe 15 or 16. I wasn't home alone or anything. Lights on, grandparents in the living room.. normal situation.
I decided to watch The Ring.. very legally on my computer and i found it mildly unsettling to say the least. After that, i wanted to "analyze" the video that kills the people in the film, so i looked it up on youtube and watched it all the way through myself. Almost on the second the video ended, my cellphone rang and i almost immediately shat my pants. I grabbed my phone and looked at the display. Blocked Number. I refused to answer and just tossed it on the desk and stared at it ringing until it stopped. I never found out who called me that late and why it was probably around 11 pm. Safe to say, i didn't die seven days later.

Here's mine: I was at home when my parents were at a concert (this happened a few years ago). The homephone (landline) rang at about 21-30 or 22-00. I didn't answer it. Whoever tried to call it left an answerphone message, which was "please help me, please" in a very breathy and perhaps rather hurried tone of voice. When my parents got back, I told them about it, and they listened to the answerphone message. Turned out it was an old man who had called the wrong number (I also did a call on 1471, which here in the UK, allows you to find out the number of the last phone that called your landline)

Help me grandma," or something about the same as that. It was like around 4 am so akdjfh it was pretty scary to see my grandma text my mom "hey, is femboy up?" And ask if my brother's up and mention this. I sometimes wonder what was happening to them and if she was hearing their last words.

    My home alone story:
My family went out for something (I can’t remember what). I closed all the curtains because I was getting naked.
I went to get my phone from my bed, called my friend and went downstairs. We were just talking about our day and stuff.
I heard a loud knock on the door and someone came in. I ended the call and put it under a table.
That person who went inside my house?? Yeah, it was my dad. My dad went into the living room, saw me 100% naked while watching TV.

My father was in his dorm alone, he turned off the lights and went to go sleep... But heard whispers in the corner. At first he thought he was just imagining it, but he kept hearing it...
He turned on the lights, and... Dead. Silence. Nothing was in the corner, just carpet, and an unplugged, turned off, speaker. Nothing that could have made that sound. Apparently he was freaked the fuck out, and went to stay with a friend.
This continued for a whole ass week before he learned from a friend that speakers, if their cords were in the exactly perfect position, could pick up, and display radio interference even if they're off or unplugged.
He tested this by moving the cord slightly, and turning off the lights.
    Nothing.
The only reason it stopped when the lights turned on was because the electricity caused interference with the signal. I honestly felt so bad for my dad when he told me that lol- I mean, imagine that.

One night me and my mom and sisters were at home watching tv and we heard the distinct sound of the side door to the house opening and shutting. This door was large and heavy so it was loud. My dad and brother were upstairs in bed so it couldn’t have been them and just to be sure my mom checked on them just to be sure, and sure enough, they were both asleep in bed. My mom went in to full-on mama bear mode, got her glock out of the gun safe, and basically started clearing the house making sure no one was in there. Eventually the only part of the house left to check was the basement and when she found no one, even after yelling that if anyone was in here who shouldn’t be they’d better come out right now and she has a gun, she called the cops. They sent an officer out and he also cleared the house and found nothing and no one. His theory was that someone decided to try and sneak in but when they heard the tv on they got spooked and ran off. Scary stuff.

One time i was home alone late at night and the rest of my family were on their way home. I was watching tv and most of the rest of the house was pitch black. All of a sudden my tv flips off. (btw the floors upstairs are thin so i could hear peoples weight on the floor when they were walking) i was having trouble finding the remote when i heard very quiet but rythmic thumps coming from upstairs like someone was walking trying to be quiet. Thats when i could faintly hear my family getting home and opening the garage. The thumps stopped. Then they got really loud and sounded like someone was sprinting upstairs. The door opened and my family walked in and i told my dad what happened and he checked the whole house and found nothing. To this day whenever im home alone i leave all the lights in the house on.

In the morning found out plaster from the ceiling fell. Another time my sister was the only one up late at night, and she said she heard whistling. There’s still no explanation for it.

Had my home alone moment about 2 weeks ago. My grandparents were going on a weeklong trip and I was house sitting for them as well as taking care of their cats. First night alone in the house, I'm sleeping in the basement and I have to have had sleep paralysis or something. Because I distinctly remember hearing a loud scraping noise on the ceiling/ground floor floor. My eyes shoot open and I see my door is gently opening. I'm sitting there perfectly still (idk if I was able to move or not bc I was shitting myself) about to have a heart attack and die. Then about 5 seconds later I wake up "again" and my door is closed. Needless to say I got up and locked the fucking door. Didn't go back to sleep for at least an hour after that and I continued to lock my door for the duration of the house sitting.

When I was 14 I heard a weird thumping noise from somwhere in my house and bc I was very much into binge watching reddit scary stories my underdeveloped brain came to the logical conclusion that a serial killer was hiding in my house.
So I grabbed my fenncing foil and held it like it was a bat, while walking around the house trying to figure what and where the noise was coming from.
I felt something on my shoulder and spun around ready to swing when I felt something wet dripp onto my head. Looked up and saw water dripping out of the AC vent. Heard the weird taping noise coming from below me and looked down to see the carpet I'm standing on has as a large wet spot on it.
Turns out the AC unit was leaking and was dripping onto the carpet all day where the spot got sp saturated with water the drops startes making the weird tapping noise.
I felt like an idiot for being so scared, But I had a chill go down my spine at when I realized I was about to swing my foil into my parents VERY EXPENSIVE collection of Tequila and Vodka.

Ok so one time at night my parents went with my little brother and older sister to go do some errands. Me and my other little brother decided to stay home because we're too lazy. Fast forward to like 20-30 min. in, me and my little brother are doing our own stuff; he's downstairs playing his video game (side note: he will NEVER get up from the couch unless he has to go to the bathroom or my parents are home and he turns off the PlayStation.) So my door is closed and I'm basically just chilling (I think i was reading some stuff) then all of a sudden I hear this loud bang on my door like if you threw a ball at it with full force (near the bottom of my door). (Side note again: my bedroom is by the stairs so if anyone is coming up or going down I immediately hear, this including running) but I didn't hear anyone go down the stairs or even go up the stairs. So I'm scared as frick but I built up the courage to open the door and see who it was. Nothing. So I go downstairs and I ask my brother if he had banged on my door. When I looked down his eyes are completely fixed on the TV as if in a trance (he really loves his games). I tell him and he says no (still looking at the game) and I could tell he wasn't lying. So I go back up and continue doing what I was doing (while scared as frick). Sometimes I try to convince myself that it was the wood on the door or something but it couldn't have made a sound that loud. Now when I stay home by myself I never close my door.

Edit: Just a side note my sister had been missing for two years with her druggie boyfriend at the time. i didn't know it was her at that moment but my mum got home a few minutes later and explained it to me fortunately for me she hadn't woken up when i squealed ,apparently she was homeless and had been living in our attic for a month.I still sleep with my light on and doors locked i really never do want to see her again.

I watched this video in the middle of the night, and even though I knew I wasn't home alone, I thought everyone was asleep and had been for hours.
In the middle of the video, I heard a weird noise come from somewhere outside of my room. It sounded like somebody talking, and for a second I thought maybe my siblings had woken up the other and for some reason they were talking (I was really trying to find some reason for the noise), but I hadn't heard anyone get out of bed, or even move around in bed (it's really easy to hear just about any noise from anywhere else in the house in my room), and I realized there was only one voice audible. Nobody in my family has any history of sleep talking so I didn't think it was that. I kept listening, and it definitely sounded like one side of a conversation, and seemed like it was coming through the vents from downstairs.
Again, it's the middle of the night, I've just been watching this video, and I think everyone else is asleep.
Finally, after freaking out for a few minutes, I texted both my brother and sister, hoping one of them would respond, so I would know it was them. No response from either of them.
I continued listening, terrified, until the talking finally stopped.
Then I got a text: "Oh, sorry, I just saw this. I didn't realize you could hear me."
Turns out my brother has a friend who works weird hours, so the two of them were on a zoom (or Skype, or whatever) call, in the middle of the night because my brother is a night owl and his friend had just gotten off of work a little bit earlier, so the timing made sense to them...

It was a warm night with a fresh breeze running through the house (typical Central American home with an open patio within the house) I was taking a nap on the couch in the living room, until suddenly I woke up. I looked at my clock, 8 pm or so… nobody was home with me since my parents and siblings went out before I went to sleep. There, I sat up right looking out the window. I’m listening to the rustle of the leaves from my mango tree, feel the wind embrace me and see the full moon out of the corner of the window. Suddenly, I hear a metal door creak and close. I can’t see anyone out of the window. Suddenly a small pitter patter of feet can be heard running through the corridor. I stand up and head towards the door, peeking out into the corridor. For a split second I feel the hairs of the back of my neck stand and I look down. I see it, I jump back startled. It was my dog, buddy, who I’ve also startled with my sudden jump 😂

Wasn't home alone but me and my bro where watching for a package, (just to make sure it doesn't get stolen, due to the same thing happening to us) So once we got the package I made look-out for the guy and tried to see his car. (nothing as expected) So you know I was about to put our binoculars away before I hear my brother calling me by nickname, but his voice was through a radio. I blamed it on my hearing atm. So I responded quickly. Which my brother came up confused and said "I didn't call you but I heard what you just heard"
Which my bro/parents only know my nickname and my parents weren't home because they were at work. So these past days I've been paranoid of every sound as i'm writing this I'm currently jumping due to normal house noises.

I live in a classified “advertised” normal family, or as normal as you can get. I was at my house, watching a horror movie, when I heard the doorknob jiggle. I thought it was the mail, but it jiggled again. I leave my movie on to be inconspicuous and approached the kitchen to grab a knife. The person then tried knocking, and when I didn’t answer it turned to banging. My parents were away so kind you there was nobody but my one cat home. He was hissing and backing away to my basement. I reached the window to see a person who had a clip board but no paper on there. I decided stupidly stick the knife through the mail slot. I heard footsteps and opened the door to see a highscooler hightailing it away from my house. They were faking being donators for a quick laugh. Nearly had a heart attack.

My story: I was 20, and it was around 5 in the morning. I collect and repair vintage electronics, and I had a record player on my work bench on the other side of the room from my bed. Well, around 5am, in engages, the tonearm lifts up, falls on the platter, and starts playing. Two problems: I didn't have a record on it yet I could clearly hear voices coming out of the speakers, and it wasn't plugged in. I got up and promptly knocked it off my bench.

If your shit gets stolen, call all the surrounding pawnshops and tell them what exactly of your property has gone missing. If a person comes in to sell those items, ask to check them for quality purposes and discreetly look for permanent marks that identify the item as yours. Keep the serial #’s of all your property in an unmarked discreet book, so you can tell them the serials. You will more than likely get all your shit back. This goes for phones.

I was 11 at the time, alone in the house at about 6:00PM in winter. I had no pets other than a lizard at the time.
Drinking tea in my dining room, playing on my tablet, I turned to look at my tablet and heard a crash, like glass... The kitchen was right next to me so I quietly ran in there, grabbing the biggest knife I could find, and using the cover of darkness to sneak downstairs.
I did NOT want whoever was there to know I was there too. So I closed and locked my door, calling my mom, shaking and terrified.
My mom comes home and finds no evidence of entry... I look over at my tea, and see something...
My tea stirring spoon was on the hardwood floor... I knocked my motherfucking spoon out of my cup with my knee.

There have been times when I would both home alone, or the only one awake late at night, and with me was the house dog. Sometimes she would just stare outside the windows and then start to growl or bark. For no applicable reason. And there were other times when the driveway alarm would go off and she would start barking or growling and would scan the outside surroundings through the window. One time, I was the only one awake, and I was about to go into my routine of brushing, showering, and then climbing into bed when the dog walks infront of the backdoor, which is a glass sliding door, and her ears immediately perk up and she starts growling. This was around 11pm, and it was pitch black outside since the majority of those who usually had their lights on during night where out. Freaked out I grab a flashlight and consider getting a firearm from the safe but I just scanned the backyard through the windows with the flashlight and could not spot anything. I did this for the onset of around 10-15 minutes before I was getting too tired and plus I had school the following day with two math tests. So I got into bed, making sure on the way to unload the mag of my 22. and hid it with my up in my bed. [If someone where to break in, and I know surely that if anyone were out there they would've seen my flashlight in my room on, I was damned if I let myself get cornered with my own gun, fully loaded.] Of course after a bit of listening I did here some rustling but otherwise I was just being a little too freaked out. So much so that my state of mind translated those sounds into my already freaked out brain to make it so it was a person moving around.
Got to sleep around 12am. And it turns out it was all nothing.

In the summer, when my mom had to work late, I would sit up and wait for her to get in. On one of these nights, around 1 am, a car pulled up to our gate and sat there for what felt like forever. I could just make out a person getting out of the car and walk around for a bit, before getting back in and driving away. My mom got home not too long after. I realize now it was probably just someone lost on the ridiculous, twisting dirt back roads that made up my "neighborhood" before cellphones were common, but, as a tween with a hyperactive imagination and an anxiety streak a mile wide, I was pretty freaked out.

I am 17 and (obviously) live with my parents. We have 3 vehicles, so at anyone time, there are at least 2 vehicles present. One a 15 Dodge Charger, the other either an 08 Suburban or an 03 Silverado. Always keep the two key fobs on me, and stay near the end of the house were the vehicles are, so if I needed to, I can press the alarm button on both. I live on a private dirt road in semi-rural Florida, where, in the 17 years I've lived here, a car alarm has never gone off, so hearing 2 go off at the same time, and stay going, is gonna draw attention. Especially when one is really, really loud. I also plan escape routes for me and my twin so that we can hop in a car (prefer the Burb or truck) and drive off with the other Alarm going off while blaring the horn on the other because that would be cop calling worthiness where I live. I might be a tad paranoid, but it's good to have these types of plans in place. I think...

the story at 38:11 is eerily similar to mine, but i never mentioned my giant schnauzer.... thats a little creepy
    For Anyone interested:
    Background info...
Several weird things have happened to me and both of my brothers in the house we grew up in that I don't understand or can explain an example of this would be either hearing our parents shout "boys" (to summon us for dinner) or all of us hearing a voice calling out individual names that we would all hear.
I was 14 or 15 at the time and opted to stay in and play World of Warcraft, it was a Saturday in the afternoon. Just a typical nice sunny summers day. I was listening to music and playing my game when I hear a voice calling my name, I take off my headphones and listen if I can hear car doors opening and shutting for me to go out and help bring the shopping in which I don't and go about business as usual but 5 minutes goes by and I hear it again so I go to the window and listen/look to see if my friends are outside goofing off but I don't see anyone (I live in like a lane off the main road and can see everything outside) again I shrug it off and just continue to be a nerd. Maybe half an hour goes by and I forget about it, hearing stuff in the house was common and didn't really bother me it was just something strange that happened occasionally. I feel a heavy thud come from the room above me which happens to be my bedroom and I take off my headphones and think my brother is going through my stuff again but realise no one is home I go to the hall and look down at the spiral stairs we had and just listen I can hear walking so I shout hello? And instantly I hear stomping foot steps across the landing and into my brothers bedroom where the door slams shut, I grabbed one half of a pool que that was by the front door and sprint up the stairs into my brothers room I still remember grabbing the banister and feeling it shake, I search everywhere up stairs under all the beds behind all the curtains there is no way that anyone would have been able to walk past me and sneak out. There were no windows open and even if there were there was no breeze at all and the door to my brothers room was poorly fitted and it was a struggle to shut. I remember how every hair on my body was stood on end and still does whenever I tell anyone about this. This freaked me the fuck out. I still can't explain this and people either look at me like I'm crazy or lying but it's just something that happened and I can't explain it.

Everyone's gangsta till the dog runs away but I have a story of my own.
About 2 or 3 summers ago, I was staying at my aunts house (I just got a call of someone breathing on the other line so I breathed back they hung up first chickens) anyway shed just moved in and didnt have curtains in my room. We'd gotten home and it was pitch black outside they live in the woods. I was removing my makeup in my room the light on and any impossible for me to see outside. I herd a tap tap tap on the window. I looked up with a deadpanned face in my mind saying "stupid John" aunts husband. I go back to removing my makeup. It continued happening about 3 times more and I ignored it thinking that my aunts husband was so stupid to think I was scared.
I got a text from my aunt asking me if I was ok and I asked her to keep her husband away from my window and she said they were on the front porch good thing we moved soon after

it was 2018, and i was barely 16, and i had just moved in with my dad an stepmom. their bedroom is in the basement facing the front of the house, and my bedroom in upstairs in the back of the house. i had my window open (as you do when it's hot asf outside in the midwest) and i had just gotten snacks so i can watch yt in peace. it was probably two or three in the morning. i left my bedroom light on, had my headphones in, and i thought i heard my dad calling me from the hallway. i asked "dad" and then turned off my light and put my headphones back in. i didn't want him to be mad at me for being awake, so i just stayed quiet. i saw a light come in from my window and i freaked out. a man at my window in my backyard asked if i was okay. it was a young officer and he said there were 3 hang up 911 calls from my house. i told him both my parents were asleep and i was by myself upstairs just trying to watch some videos. after he got my name he left (this man had to have hopped our 6ft fences to get in my backyard) and i ran downstairs sobbing. i told my dad wait happened and he marched out to find the guy about to leave in his cruiser. my dads a retired security forces officer and absolutely chewed this poor officers ass about scaring the fuck out of me, his barely 16yr old daughter, at 3am. the officers reasoning was he rang the doorbell (which only works in the basement so my parents would have heard it) and that he knocked several times on the front door (which i was upstairs with my dog and even if i hadn't heard it my dog would have and started barking). my dad was pissed that this young officer wanted to "play hero" and not follow basic procedure. i about pissed myself and couldn't sleep the rest of the night.

It's more of a "everyone was asleep and it was 3am" story but to hell with it I don't have reddit and I don't usually watch these videos so I'm taking my chance to tell this story
(I lived in a rural area at the time and we had just moved there for a short while for a job my dad had. This is important because I hadn't had any experiences with wildlife or anything to do with living in a place with barely any people and a whole lot of nature and darkness. So keep that in mind.)
I was on my phone at 3am drawing and listening to - drumroll please- true crime ✨ and hear something outside my window. It sounds like someone pacing back and forth. I stayed in bed, frozen. My fan is on in my room, and slightly blows my curtains to where I can see outside, so I closed out all the shit on my phone so the "person" outside didn't see me. I just stayed there, in a cold sweat. I stayed, unmoving except for nervous shaking in my bed for a whole ass hour. The walking/pacing was still going on. I couldn't move out of fear at all and I didn't wanna wake up my parents. Eventually the steps stopped and I worked up the nerve to slightly peak out of the window. I didn't see anything. So I went back in my bed, and fell asleep in fear. Next morning, my parents are like ooo there's moose outside, and sure enough, I check outside my window (there like a foot of snow) and there's a BUNCH of moose footprints outside.
    TLDR: I thought a moose outside was a murderer/stalker 💀

    What the F#$K WAS THAT!
I just started watching this video and I heard a loud bang on my window, kinda like a soccer ball hitting a wall. I thought nothing of it for a few seconds. Then I remembered I'm in a new house on the 26th floor. I'm really not joking, this just happened, it could have been from one of my family members and because I have ear plugs in it could have guided me to misjudge where the sound came from, but I asked everyone and they said they hadn't done anything. This is too ironic to seem real or true but I'm really telling the truth from the information I have.
