    A culture of excellence, established early, allows the leader to use minimal “force” to enforce the culture. THIS is exactly what we must do when leading in a volunteer organization. Great convo, gents!
    The most effective leader creates more effective leaders. That is the objective.
    Become the leader that YOU’D be honoured to follow, that’s the plan.

    5:53 Totally possible. Once I was grabbing a cup of coffee with a new hire and they were discussing staffing changes in an organization. At the next table was a dude I'd worked with for years. So, I just look over at him and say. "Carson ..." Right away they came back with. "Oh yeah, we did back in..."
    They were following along the same line of thinking without explicit words being spoken.
    What you're saying is possible.

    Decentralized command is a good idea in theory.
    However, what do you do about the members who don’t have their facts straight? What do you do about the ones who are heavy-handed with no authority? What do you do about the ones who are too insane/ignorant to know when to stop? What do you do about the gleeful participants when the target is intelligent enough to be dealt with in a reasonable manner? What do you do when the gangs timing is way off?

      That isn’t where you start. When you encounter a culture it usually will not be right. So you need to set an example, and support the example set by others, until a culture develops that you’re happy to work with. If other people don’t understand, or they don’t trust, that can be dealt with in time. You work with them, and you build something together. The problem comes when others don’t want to - they're opposed to what you’re trying to do - or they don’t have the skills. That won’t be many people, but the few who are real problems need to go.

    I can't stay away so what Ole jocks is saying is that the other operators in his team don't need his advice skills or leadership

    • @EchelonFront
      @EchelonFront  3 місяці тому +1

      We absolutely still need his advice and leadership. Here at Echelon Front, we are constantly listening and learning from Jocko's leadership. However, since he sets a strong example and built a strong culture, we don't need to ask him every question or need constant validation. We can figure out what to do, because we know what is important to him and the team.
