Such a beautiful machine. Goes to show they want their customers happy. Easy upgrade is ALWAYS a must. I'm aiming to get this soon. I'll be gaming on this thing for minimum 5 years probably 10.
@@mrmotofy The 13980HX does so well with 4090 cpu Z benchmark around 13700 points plugged in 6700 points unplugged the very bad thing is the high temps it need cooling i have undervolted it and getting good gaming performance too (even tho i dont really play that much nowadays) with 85~ degree celcius if the framerwork had even GPU that are not AMD i would have bought it
Can use an old credit card as a pry tool. Just be very gentle starting from the side with just the USB ports and work backwards always stopping and moving past the plastic pillars so as to not break them. Once at the back, start on the rear plastic shroud. It must be removed prior to continuing to removing the the cover. Once it's off, start on the other side and front. Lift from the front as the cover actually hinges from the rear and you dont want to break all the rear hinge plastic pillars that keep the case snug at the rear.
Yea the hinge cover on the front back needs to be carefully removed. You will not be able to open this laptop without that blue pick! Otherwise, great video! Just installed a samsung 980 pcix 3.0 1tb drive in there, works like a charm!
I don't see why not - they always say max 64 but the processor can handle 128...I've just never seen 64 GB SODIMM modules available yet - maybe in the future
@@imoldgregg8 What I'm saying is max capacity is not always max capacity. Asus specifically lists max as "what they have tested", not what it is technically capable of. My last laptop was max 24 GB. I ran 40 GB with no issues. Don't assume I'm just stupid and wasn't listening ..
Video: Doesn't show where to pry the case open

Better to get a Framework. This is actually much slower than I expected.

You also need to remove the hinge cover on the other side of the laptop and just pry off from there, much easier and it just basically peels off.
Im glad I saw this
This helped so much. Bro in the video didn't even mention this. This is really the first step. Thank you!
You mean like when he says remove the back plastic shroud at 23sec, after removing screws
It would be helpful to know where to pry it from. A side angle view would be really beneficial
which ssd slot is gen 5 compatible?
I'm wondering as well
My guess would be the unused slot
Its the one closest to the fan. Just installed twice and checked with Crystal
Can anyone share the link of ssd you can put in this laptop?
I put in a Crucial t700 4tb works fine 11,000 read 9,000 write for random. Slot for Gen 5 is closest to the fans

Is possible for this laptop to upgrade screen panel with better display(HDR support)?
Thanks for the helpful teardown!!!
Very nice!
Short, sweet, and straight to the point.
Is it possible to add a second SSD without removing the existing one?
Yes
I just got this looking to upgrade to 64gb ram can anyone tell me what brand will work out the box?
Use MrMemory, they scan your computer and it shows compatible options
Thanks. It was Really helpful. I did not break anything.
Where’s the 13th screw

64 only

If you listen to his voice in the video instead of blindly asking people you'd hear him say it's only capable of 64gb

Not a good video...need to see the side. This was unhelpful.
Old credit card etc. Otherwise there's body panel plastic removal tools
Way harder to get the lid on the off

Not if he at least mentioned where to order that "plastic tool"
It is a nice laptop, but damn noisy with fans going hard!
