- We Teach About Filigree For Stained Glass. Together, on this video, We Teach About Filigree For Stained Glass. Jeanne shows how she cuts glass for a project. We show brass, acrylic and wire embellishments. We also glimpse a Tiffaney lamp shade with filigree.
We film with eye shields and safety guards removed.
You should have all safety attachments in place and

Thank you for the butterfly tip!!
Patricia
It's fun to use if you can find it!
Hello Guys! Nice video! I have used real butterfly wings (ethically sourced of course from butterfly farms, after the butterfly has died naturally). I take and laminate the wings (so they are like the hard plastic ones you used here in this video). Then plate them between glass. They turn out really pretty!
i kind of done same thing with lace goldfish cut it around and placed it between thin clear thin glass that cut a shape of bowl, and a cat looking down into it.worked well!
@@melekmackey5669 Very Cool. Jeanne just did some pressed flowers in glass that were beautiful.
Thanks for sharing
You bet! I plan to show more 😀😀
I loved your video. I was wondering if you can do a video on making wire curls large and small for attacing some curly q's to different projects. I could really use the help. Thank you. I use 16 snd 14 gauge wire. I appreciate all the help i could get. Jo from Lords Valley, Pa.💜
Thanks, that's a good idea, we'll see what we can do when I do a follow up on this video.
@@GommStainedGlass Great!!
What gauge wire did you use for your graceful looking filigree?
We did some with 18 gauge and some with 22 gauge. Both worked well but the 18 gauge was easier to hold it's shape during the bend.
When I first started doing stained glass they made filigree lamp panels. I would cut my glass panels and add the filigree that would cover the cut panels or sometimes it would be scenes. Do they still make these larger panels and do you know where I can get them? I also would use copper sheets and make them myself but it was much nicer when you could just purchase the larger filigree and cut your glass panels.
It is much harder to find good filigree these days. I may do a second video about it.
How do you know the metal isn't coated or it will take solder?
I try it. Wire is often coated so it's hit and miss, punched out metals are usually plain metal so we can solder them
Love your videos💕🤗
Thanks, we love doing them!!!😀😍😀
Beautiful
Thanks, filigree used to be more common and you could get it from many sources. Now, it's more difficult to find.. but it's worth the effort! 😀😀😀
Thank you for all these creative ideas and the way you share them with us
Thanks for your kind comment. I plan to do a second video that will show this subject in a more clear light!
Such good work! Thank you :)
Thanks Nancy!
