Ah, that's an interesting question. I'm almost tempted to ask what you think is going on. It's not push-pull, as I understand it (i.e some sort of opening and closing of the hand), because I've tried to get the hang of that for years and met with no success. It's definitely not fingers, I don't really use fingers deliberately. And it can't be Moeller, can it? I'm not really whipping. It's a French grip wrist turn sort of thingy using a good deal of bounce. I would say that I am influenced by the three techniques you mention as I have worked on them but not really mastered any of them as such. There's a lot to think about there (infact I think about it a lot) because I am skeptical if any of these techniques are really things at all or just various explorations of mechanics. Never found a teacher or anyone who really understands these things as much as they think they do, TBH. Not that I do either. It's like we're looking but the harder we try to define the thing, the less accurate the definition is?
@@bobc.5698 ah, finding a pair of sticks you feel at home with is great. The whole hand technique thing is a bit of a minefield IMO with so many people proclaiming this or that method is the bee's knees. I think the are fundamental elements of the grip and stroke that can work really well for anyone and that the specific techniques that get parroted by everyone and their dog might be useful refinements to the bigger picture but aren't things you need to worry about by default. I hope that makes some sort of sense.
Thanks for a great lesson. Explained in easy term what I thought as being unplayable !!!!
Thanks Garry, I appreciate the feedback. Let me know how you got on 😁
What would you describe your right hand hi hat technique as?
Moeller? Push pull? Fingers?

Hi Joe. Great lesson. Very easy to follow by the way you explain it. Could I ask how would count those drum fills. 🥁 cheers
