Just checking out this Beatle tribute band 'Rain' I have seen then before on 'You Tube' and looking at this concert footage, it seems as though they are lip syncing for the most part, or else the sound track is out with the visual ?!
Can't be absutely sure about this, these guys are pretty good musically, all the parts are right, but at the same time, they have made up their own version of some songs, for the sake of being a live show, 'Twist and Shout' was, or seemed lame in the lead vocals, unless by that song, (the John) character may have been a bit out of breath, or saving himself for a later song, besides, we are use to 'The Beatles' version of this song done by John Lennon! but as one commented, most of the John's don't quite get Lennons vocal correct.
If your name is Adam Hastings or Ron from
(TFF) it is going to be very close.
John Lennon didn't always have the goods when doing this song.
Why 'Rain' have it in their set is their business, but there are better songs they could do.
How many songs did the Beatles write almost 300, but then there are all the other covers that they did.
    Why not 'Ain't She Sweet'?
    'Slow Down'
    'Don't Bring Me Down'
    'Chains'
    'Rain'
    'Mr Moonlight'
    'I'm A Loser'
'Don't Want To Spoil The Party'
    and the list goes on!
    'Should Have Known Better'
    'A Hard Days Night'
    'Help'
    'She Said'
    'SIipping And Sliding'
There are a lot of old standards that could be done.
I thought that 'Rain' show a lot of energy that radiates from them on stage, it definitely makes for a great live performance, they do it well, but none of them look like the Beatles, if it weren't for the costume changes, and hair do changes, their look wouldn't help.
Apart from that, they are a good band, better than some of the other less energetic version's, and they put it over well.
I'm somewhat impressed with their show.
Great musicianship by all of them. Well done.

Meh... Was my reaction. They were more busy trying to energize the audience more than trying to sound like the Beatles.
The Fab Four is my go to tribute band. I saw them live and they sounded just like if it was a live juke box playing all Beatles hits. They sound EXACTLY like them. Some of the players almost look like them and have their mannerism down pat. These guys...sounded like a local band that had enough money in the budget to dress like them.

Yeah! Most of them do, they get by, but at the same time all the other 'Beatle' tribute bands are doing their best to sound like 'The Beatles'.
I saw 'The Beatles' in person back in June 1964, ofcourse there were a lot of kids screaming, so hearing them was an issue.
I was 13 years old going on 14yrs, they were youngish looking guy's, with what seemed like a sense of humour, and when I see a lot of their press conference's and interview's from back then, I realise they were being a bit cheeky (as it were) for those times.
But they made light of the question's and were quite witty (off the cuff) and were quote intelligent enough to pull it off in those situation's.
Shame in the place where I lived at the time, Ringo Starr was getting over a tonsilitis operation he had back in the UK, so the Beatles had
Jimmy Nichole playing drums, and he was in the interview's with the press.
He does look out of place, but by this time everyone was use to Ringo being their drummer!.
Jimmy got away with what he had to do, but in my opinion he wasn't as good as Ringo, he could have been better if he had some rehersal with 'The Beatles' but there was no time for that.
At the time Ringo came down with tonsilitis,
'The Beatles' were already in the middle of a gruelling world tour, so it was suggested to take some time off by 'The Beatles', so Ringo could do those show's, but due to the added pressure, Brian Epstein went ahead with the added shows, and Jimmy Nichole got the job
I don't think.'The Beatles' knew Jimmy Nichole personally, he would have been suggested by industry people as a suitable replacement, who would pull it off.
He sounded a bit straight, in other words he played is safe and played (straight beats) for the songs.
      As I say, he wasn't Ringo !
He didn't play the songs as if he knew them, so what we saw lacked 'The Beatles' usual standard.
As you say, (TFF) are one of the best 'Beatle' tribute bands around.
The other's try their best to be as good, but because they all seem to copy the (TFF) style show, incorporating each stage of 'The Beatles'.
I notice when (TFF) have the right lineup, yes they get the look right, but as there are several (Fab Four) bands in the mix! due to popular demand of 'The Fab Four' they are trying to do several shows at once (simultaneously) so not to dissapoint fans, and honour bookings.
This in my (humble) view presents the issue of who are available to come and play with (TFF).
Each time I have seen them, they have a different lineup, and that means the players they use, aren't the same guys playing as (TFF) so to me, they too sound very ordinary and not as good as they could (should) be.
Adam Hasting's and Gavin Pringle, who both live in the UK can't always be available, and both take time off from the band.
During these times there is a parade of player's from other 'Beatle' tribute bands, that need to be available to take their place.
Ardy (Paul) and Ron (John) aren't always available, they run (TFF) and need as many people on their books to come and fill in at a times.
Same with the other 'Beatle' tribute bands, they all need replacement's and filler's to come in their bands.
      It dies go to.show, that
'The Beatles' left a huge legacy and industry for those willing and able to keep their memory alive.
A lot of these tributes are making huge amounts of money out of personating
'The Beatles'. Most of these guys have been doing it longer than the Beatles did!
and are making more money and playing to bigger crowds than the Beatles ever did.
I guess the accual Beatle's company that allows this to keep going on, are making millions in royalties, from each time these tribute acts play a Beatle song, or dress like them, guitars and amps and drums, Royalties are being paid.
We're in the wrong business, people like us! Cheers.

@@nevillede-hoedt6520 ... Lol. Very true! Lots of dedication and talent to keep it going. I don't think Beatle tribute bands will ever die. Heck, I'm waiting for the Fab Four to come around again and expose my next generation kin to the music of my time.

They were great times, I remember it like it was yesterday (today)
As long as there are tribute acts, the memories of the original artist's never dies.
But it goes to show that there are a lot of younger fans who love the music, and the era, you had to be there!
Yes, your offspring folks will love the very essence of people their age, playing this music, they listen to the people of their generation, not us older folks, who never lived! (or so they think) !
      Cheers.

hi. I can assure you that nobody's ever lip-syncing. As for performances. yes, they have days when some can't perform to 100% capacity. and, they also have stand-ins. BUT, I do agree that every Beatles tribute group could stand to play more obscure songs. Of the big two, (Rain and The Fab Four), I believe The Fab Four sometimes does those lesser known songs.

What's wrong with the singer playing John Lennon?.has he got a cold or something because he definitely didn't belt it out on Twist and Shout,he was definitely holding back,I'm a musician and colds and sore throats happen sometimes, just curious. Bob

I've seen a lot of Beatles tribute bands, and I can say that it's challenging to get that kind of vocal off. Most John Lennons can't do it.

Try The Fab Four tribute band. They ALL sing just like the Beatles. Even the harmony between them sounds amazingly exact. The bass player even looks like Paul. And they all copied their mannerisms to a T. I've seen them live and it was like the Beatles were really there.

(Not really his range), as a muso (I too am one). songs that are out of our range, we usually try to change the key to suit, but failing that, because it doesn't sound right, we shelve the song, and move on with another song.
Changing keys quite often changes other elements and dimensions of how the arrangement sounds, so rather than spoil it, drop it, and find other songs to play.
How many songs did the Beatles record (cover wise !)
and write? 300 there abouts more?!
      Plenty to choose from.

That John Lennon vocal affectation that most tribute band 'Johns' use is so annoying and this guy is a prime offender. And he just about whispered Twist and Shout.
As then there's 'Paul's' vocal performance on Get Back. Might as well call it 'Laid Back'......no Rock and Rollers here.
