I think it was genius that the storm and the comet happened at the same time because an arrival of a comet has both mythical and scientific references.in myth, the arrival of a comet are believed to bring about catastrophe or natural disasters. In science, though, in this case exagerated, can affect tides. So it was a well thought of decision.
Avatar will always be one of the greatest shows of all time and despite some nitpicks and minor flaws I feel like the adaptation really did it justice, you can tell the love and care they put into it
Earthbender in Last Airbender Movie: It takes 7 guys to do the dance of moving one rock 🪨 Earthbender in Netflix's Avatar: Fights like their Animated Counterpart.👌
I feel like what they were trying to do was to give a little back story of the main characters in the first episode to get new audiences invested in the show you know why is Zuko after the avatar I feel new people to the series would like to know a little if the reason but after having watched the full season I can tell you a lot of what you’re saying gets fleshed out throughout the episodes and I feel the writing get better as it progresses and I can agree the finale is epic
Ive loved the original show since i grew up watching it on Nickelodeon tv, and having seen all the episodes now for this first season, i absolutely loved what I got. 9/10 The cast killed it, and I can't wait to see their take on Books 2 & 3
i really really like the guy. he knows a lot. so he can do a good comparison and point out things. 1st person i found that's so knowledgeable. all the other youtubers seem like they didn't even watch the original. their comments are so basic
@@cupidok2768 haha we have fun! hopefully we won't come off too nitpicky... we had fun with this and look forward to more. honestly going to be very interesting how the 2 versions compare!
I can get behind all of the development changes for this adaptation because it does the series justice in its own way. You can't expect it to be a one for one to the animation, even when it comes to dialogue. All I can say is you'll see it by the time you get to the season finale. Episode two is a standout for me.
I think the 'shouldnts' and 'shoulds' are easier said than done. I grew up with the show and critical of it but I am also very open to any fresh takes. I think why a lot of people werent happy about this is because we expect the emotional pulls from the original. I think they didn't want to imitate it because if they did, people will still compare and complain. I've just finished it and loved it! Mostly because it's different and I see is an alternative take. It doesnt compete with the original which will always be the standard, but I felt like the choices they made for the liveaction were great. People are just a little biased about the negative parts of it but that is also expected if you want to adapt anything that is not 1:1
@@nerdymarriedcouple Thanks so much glad to hear you say that. I'm also glad you guys said some good things about this episode although if I had to nitpick I do wish we say sokka and katara interact more with gran gran.
I like the points you brought up. I really enjoyed the live action, but I also felt that they revealed a lot more than I’d hoped in the first season. Personally, I find it really rewarding when a story is allowed to unfold slowly. It feels like television shows today aren’t given room to breathe. It’s as if the writers were afraid they weren’t going to get the next 2 seasons, so they crammed more story into season 1, in case it had to stand on its own (like the movie).
definitely recommend the original as one of our favorites!! 😊 we'll see how the netflix adaptation lives up to it 🤔🤔 this may be an interesting introduction to the plot as well if you start here!
If anything good comes out of this is that people will want to watch the original. Notice the differences and appreciate it more and one day we will have the 1:1 remake lol
evey time u mentioned the first Avatar video I still remember your voice echoing in my ears when you said you're just getting started with the videos yet Up till now we still four videos for the record, I'm still listening to those four videos whenever I get bored
save your turn comments til the end i binge watched the series and am i true fan but they did a wonderful job i want to see if you can point out a specific change that happened that every other reactionist has failded to catch i will be watching
i disagree with everything you said the dialog was fine , the characters was fine and you know you dont have to write the story 100 percent like the source material almost every adaptation changes stuff doesnt make it worse harry potter, star wars, twilight, lord of the rings and it goes on and on and about the george lucas comment and the prequel series 2 of the prequel series are in my top 4 star wars films ever and i love legend of korra in alot of ways i like it better the avatar the only season i wasnt a fan of was season 2 and they only suspected that the avatar spirit came from the earth and in legend of korra they said where it came from the problem you guys will have is if you keep comparing it the the amine then prepare to not like it because the avatar series is one of the greatest anime ever
I just hope they slow it down just a lil more and add more of the actual lore from the original show into season 2. Definitely better than shamalan movie lol, but i guess that movie left me wanting a 1:1 recreation live action I guess I can respect the remix of it in that they wanted to give us something new yet similar presented differently yet similar.
Im 2 episodes in and think this show is amazing . My only point of reference is the film so i have an outline of the major things thtll happen but nothing else. I think the bending is great and im liking all the characters. I know there will be fans who hate it. Fans have to realise this has to be made for the General public to enjoy so they have to be told who the characters are early on. Its unrealistic to expect them to make an episode by episode remake of the animated version and they shouldnt have to. It would be sooo costly to make 60 odd episodes. Fans will never be happy whatever they did and its dissappointing to see so many negative reviews from 'die hard fans' they r only hurting themselves as they probable wont bother making season 2 and 3
You're forgetting that the original was literally made for children (Of course it had a large teen and adult fanbase, but the original was rated Y7), expecting a general audience to switch off because they aren't immediately given all the important beats in the backstories of our two main characters in the first 30 minutes is kind of bizarre, not only considering that you can watch the entire first season right now (unlike the original which came out week to week) but especially considering Avatar has a pretty limited character roster compared to similar fantasy shows, it's not like we need to get their backstories out of the way to move onto other characters. If a Nickelodeon show could trust their audience to keep watching week after week to find out more about the characters and the world, then Netflix could've (and, in my opinion, should've) done the same
I loved this first episode, and I haven't watched the rest yet but I'm seriously hoping that as it goes on, the acting gets better. They're alright right now, but they're very stiff most of the time, and they have very monotonous voices. I don't think I'm being biased by the animated show since I haven't seen it in such a long time, either
I've only watched this first episode, and questionable child line delivery aside, my only two problems were: Iroh playing his hand about wanting Zuko to find a different path way too early, in the original that came after a long time of Iroh dropping subtle hints, trying to steer Zuko but wanting him to choose that path on his own. Him saying "maybe you should forget about the throne" at this point doesn't feel like something Iroh would do. As for my other problem, how did Katara even block Zukos fireball? You can't really see what she does, does she raise a ball of water that blocks it, or does she create a wave? Because either way, that feels like Katara just did a waterbending move she wouldn't be able to do in the original for quite a while, and if she's already that good, then, where's the journey? I'm only on the first episode, so, I hope some of these kinks will be smoothed out the same way that the original show took a couple of episodes to find itself
I feel like you have to watch the entire season and then comment because your assumption are not based on current material and how they will tackle things over the course of the episodes because you expect them to be presented in the same moment and timing that the original story was introduced
You guys brought up an interesting point that I completely missed when I saw the first episode. They probably should have spread out the exposition out more instead of just getting it out of the way immediately in the pilot.
You have to understand that these live actions cost a lot of money to make compared to the animation… they can’t afford to drag the story like the animation. If you want to watch the exact story, just watch the animation!!!! Worst reaction I’ve seen
Anyone who expects the live action to be as good as Animation is just stupid there is way more you can do it animation that you can’t do with live action
It's horrible to say... but GranGran was a weak point. Overall a very entertaining 1st episode. Already finished it. Y'all have a lot to look forward to. Very good series

Gordon Cormier ( Aang ) to me is the most surprising part and he got better in the later episodes, he's also adorable and cute

Just saw the finale and it was spectacular

This show feels like a revisitation not a remake.
Just as I wanted. I don't want to see the same thing again and again. Slightly tweaking the narrative is giving me a good feeling for this series.

Don't forget that timwise each live-action episode is the equivalence of three animated episodes.

Episode 6 is the Zuko backstory. It's still in the live action series.
