      Growing plants from seedlings are always bit of challenge but once you master it, it opens up lots of options and growing them from seeds are cheaper too . once again thanks for your warm comments. 👍

    I learned so much info on your video! I binge watch seed starting videos and have never heard anyone explain the connection between immediately exposing the seedling to light at germination which can prevent legginess. This is a huge problem for me. I hope to find more on your channel about getting thick stalk s without legginess. Thank you, thank you!

      I am glad you liked my videos. Yes. exposure to sunlight can make the seedlings stocky! and healthy. Happy gardening

      Airflow and strong light, also certain wavelengths of light promote stretching too.

    Hi, great video! Can you advise the next step being how many times to water nutrients per day as we live in a hot climate without risking rotting?

    • @TheGeekgardener
      @TheGeekgardener  Рік тому

      Thanks. Once the seedlings germinate, it is critical we move them to full sunlight. When plants are given full sunlight, they grow well consuming the water and fertilizer we feed them. We water the plants in two ways
      1. For smaller setups, they are top watered using a watering can with a rose head. This works well. You need to thoroughly water all seedlings to a point the water drains from the bottom. Remember the seedlings in the corner lose more water than the ones in the middle. Compensate for that. If required a second watering is done later in the day. This really depends on the size of the tray and the volume of growing. media in it
      2. For larger setups, we use a flood table where the seedlings are bottom watered.
      Hope this helps

    Excellent, thanks.
    What color of plastic (white or black) do you recommend to cover the seed tray during the 2-3 days of germination?
    Thank you again

    • @TheGeekgardener
      @TheGeekgardener  3 роки тому

      You can choose any color as long as the covered tray is not kept under full sun. We keep it in the shade till first sign of germination is seen. Between black and white,I prefer white. It allows us to see without opening.

    How often I should water the plant after just getting germinated? And how long we should expose the plants in sun ? Please help my germinating plants are dying before becoming ready for setting up in nft outdoor hydroponics kit.

    What do you feed the seedlings after 2 leaf stage as cocopeat doesn't have nutrients?

    • @DG-iw3yw
      @DG-iw3yw 10 місяців тому

      Plenty of coco suppliers add nutrients. Plus seedlings shouldnt need fertiliser for the forst couple weeks

  • @srjkpndt

    After how many days after sowing, seeds need nutrients from the growing medium and how do you provide nutrients to the plant?

    • @srjkpndt
      @srjkpndt 2 роки тому

      Because what i have heard is cocopeat do not contain any nutritional value usable by the plants.
