  • In this video I'm upgrading the MicroSD card inside a Kobo Nia.
    This also works for most Kobo devices out there.
    This instructions to clone the device are below (just replace the X with your device, as explained)
    Backup command:
    dd if=/dev/sdX of=backup.img bs=4M && sync
    Restore command:
    dd if=backup.img of=/dev/sdX bs=4M && sync
    After these commands you can use gparted or any other tool to resize the last partition in order to get additional storage

    Thanks for this.
    I side load a lot of books from calibre/guttenberg and annotate a fair bit.
    I’m planning on upgrading my mono to a libra 2E. How can I safely transfer stuff from one kobo to other?
    Thanks

      You're welcome ! Not sure what exactly you want to transfer but as far as I know but the books might be found directly on the internal storage and there is a sqlite database where everything is stored in kobos such as account details, statistics about reading, cache for the books and so on. The database is called KoboReader.sqlite. There are lots of hacks that can be performed on it such as bypassing registration and so on. And is quite easy to access using sqlite3 from cli or tools such as dbeaver
