I just found this channel and I’m super glad! I live local and I’m trying to get better at growing garlic. Thanks for the info!

Do you water over winter in Texas or wait until spring to start again? Also do you cover with straw? So many say mulch heavy.

Our winters (in North Texas) are fairly wet, so supplemental watering isn't typically needed. However last year we had La Nina (and will have one again this winter), which left us with 7-inches less rainfall than normal. So, some watering is sometimes needed as you don't want the soil & bulbs to dry out. Yes, I do mulch. I use fine shredded hardwood mulch or shredded leaves about 2-inches deep. I'm not a fan of straw because a hard north wind sends it flying. ;-)

Do you have to put the garlic in the refrigerator before planting? If so, for how long?

Plant the biggest cloves, eat the small ones.

I do. I use leaf litter - rake up leaves and shred them with my lawn mower.
